Could this be a nickel allergy? On your belly makes me wonder about closures around the waist. The sore take a long time to completely go away. I put 2 and 2 together when I got button down jeans. The sores were right were the buttons touched. I have gtten more sensitive since going gluten-free.

ARCHIVED Problems Again
Budew replied to Ash82's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
yup, l-glutamine and probiotics really seem to help. I take the l-glut powder. I have been on it 4 months, 20 grams twice a days. I just reduced it to 20 grams. Words of experience I order the powder on line at totalglutamine.com about 1/4 the price. Also probiotics with FOS have helped me the most. Kind of a nasty taste until you get used to it. I like... -
ARCHIVED Trying To Gain Weight...but It's Hard.
Budew replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I always say I look like a chicken. Ribs begin to stick out. I hate that look. This whole thing is so personal but sharing is the only way to find answers. How do I feel about how I look? I varies day to day. Compliments help. Generally I'm okay with my appearance. I do think I look older than I am. Sometimes I feel like I look like a monster and don't... -
Oh yes sinus misery. Trips tothe dentist, root canals. ENT did scans. Antibiotics did not work, neither did cutting out dairy. The I cut the salicylates and no more sinus stuff, even the cough I'd had for 5 years went away. What a relief.

ARCHIVED Very Shakey, Almost Low Blood Sugar Feeling...
Budew replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I seem to relate to so many posts. I have been battling this one the last 2 weeks. Haven't figured it out either. I had all of the vitamin levels checked. All good. I have been monitoring blood sugar, seems fine. I too am afraid to drive. It comes on so quick. I just wilt, sweat, shake, heart races, temp fluctuates rapidly one degree. I also think I... -
They called it eczama for me too. Cutting out white potato helped. I also got an ointment triamcinocline it seems to help the thick skin annoyance. It also got a bit better by only using vasoline as a moisturizer. I had the finger and toe problem several years ago. Actually a cortizone shot helped clear that up. When I think back, way back then I as baking...

ARCHIVED How Super Sensitive Can A Celiac Be?
Budew replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am extremely sensitive to something. I don't think it is gluten. I have the problem with reacting from odors. For me tomato and chili powder make me flush, heart rate picks up. I even had it happen last week after waiting in the doctors office. I went in fine and after 15 minutes in his environment I was feeling like a caged animal. I have cut out all... -
My diet is really resticted and I work hard to maintain 114, I am 5'6". Personally I keep the calories up using butter and sugar. Not very nutritional but it helps. I can use those drinks to gain because of all the stuff they put in them, but I thought about it. I think back to when gaining was the hardest. It was before I was diagnosed. I think it is...

ARCHIVED Trying To Gain Weight...but It's Hard.
Budew replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm with you. I kept a lot of what you expressed to myself for a long time. I am 46. I have always been thin. My husband had an affair and siad it was he desired large women. The whole weight issue came forward like a ton of bricks. After that I was diagnosed celiac and was put on anti anxiety drugs. I gained 70 lbs in 3 months without eating. When I quit... -
You folks have helped so much, that the issues have changed. Untreated celiac 25 years. gluten-free 7 years. For 6 of these things got worse, then I met you folks and connected with a specialist who now cannot answer my questions or refer me to anyone who can. The explaination I got was that stripped of the gluten barrier I became sensitive to other things...

ARCHIVED Mystery Med Ingredients?! Grr...
Budew replied to relepvd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Welcome to the board. I get great info here. Even great questions. You all have created one what are CYA statements. I never used over the counter. I have just requested my thyroid meds compounded. I did not ask the price, and feel lucky it is not a concern for me. I have suspected meds to be contributing to my problems for aout a year. I quit the anxiety... -
ARCHIVED Christmas Dinner
Budew replied to Mike44's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I see you have had no responses. I am vegetarian but my mom is celiac 50 years now and noticed this year turkey comes with an ingredient list, a new development. She's going with the fresh from a butcher. -
This is about your teeth. I spent a lot going to the dentist. My dental problems have improved since I stopped using toothpaste. I use baking soda. For years I have had dental pain. When ever I had a real problem it was related to infection. When I lowered my salicylates the sinuses cleared and when I stopped using toothpaste my dental concerns evaporated...

ARCHIVED Help Night Sweats
Budew replied to Rebecca47's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had this problem and it has stopped. I got advice from Ursula. All at once I eliminated all grain and legumes, and reduced my salicylate exposure and intake. Now the only time it occurs I can link it to salicylates. Hope you find what is happening to you. When I was diagnosed celiac and went gluten-free, I think not only the villi were damages but... -
Looks like most of your questions were answered by others, but as far as make up. I use bobbi brown. I is expensive but works for me. I will try clinique next, it is not as pricey and the clerk will call and check every product before you buy. I got it for my mom and she is completely sold. Crest is gluten-free, but I had an aversion to it. When I found...

ARCHIVED Headaches Persisting After Going Gluten-free
Budew replied to jebus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ruthie- Sorry about the headaches but thanks for asking the question. Migraines are my biggest fear right now. I am on the elimination diet. Everytime I tried a grain I had migraines that lasted 3-5 days. Same for tapioca. I don't eat the nightshades. I cut them out a year ago and I must say that potato and tomato are the two foods I wish I could get... -
ARCHIVED Need To Vent
Budew replied to WalksonWater's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I understand Walmart is all there is for some folks. That's because they drive others out of business. I hope you Walmart Shoppers take the time to read about the way they treat their employees (especially women). Their cheap prices are due to low wages and government subsides. I personally wll NEVER shop there. This company has become nothing but cut... -
Everyone is right on target. It takes time to heal and until you do you may find yourself sensitive to more and more things. You also may need help with enzymes and suppliments in order to heal. At least that is where I am. 7 years gluten-free and I got more sick everyday. Things have been improving since Sept. I got digestive enzymes, cut out all grain,...

ARCHIVED Neurological Disorders Associated With Celiac?
Budew replied to cyan1117's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I absolutely believe there is a link. I also think it is more than gluten because of personal experiences. I have been diagnosed bi-polar, psychotic, depressed, anxiety disorder, dyslexia. I have felt rage since childhood not to mention terrible dreams and fears. Since I have been eating a very restrictive diet I am excited to find that I no longer have any... -
Okay I am out of the closet. I too got hooked on the topic. Mostly I feel the need to help others as you folks have helped me get my life back. Before the forum I was so sick, and now I am in awe that I am healthy again.

I had the same reactions all of the time. I found that it was not a certain food but my salicylate level. Once I have too much I get the sweats fever and migrane headaches. I'm sure that's what is is for me. We are all different.
-
Great thread. I have been vegetarian 35 years. Celiac was diagnosed 7 years ago. Because I was undiagnosed so long I developed many other sensetivities. Protiens seem to link them all. I eat no grain, or legumes. I found that high fat dairy works for me. Salicylates limit many choices so I depend on raw cahew and high fat dairy. I am able to handle yellow...

I have had a nickel allergy since I was a kid. I have become more sensitive over the years. I just found concepts jewelry online. It would be nice to wear earrings again. I plan to buy some next week and dress up for the holidays.
