    ARCHIVED Scared

I had a hard time facing up to being a celiac, but I feel so much better on the diet it is worth going and staying on. My husband was glad when I finally got the dx. The year prior I was much fun to be around. He'd work a 70 hr work week and have to come home to take care of me and the girls . I'd forget to do errands, make important phone calls, he...
  2. I don't think the IUD will do anything for the cysts. I'd also do a lot of research before using the depo shot, that is if you want to have kids (more kids?) My SIL used depo and had to go on fertility drugs to get pregnant. It took 3 1/2 years to get pregnant and she had already been off depo for over a year before trying. Her fertility Dr. told her that...
  3. You just said what I've been thinking. I have consistently been gluten since I started going gluten-free. I just found the source, Malt o Meal cereal that used to be gluten free. I must have read that it was gluten free on an old web site. That just made me mad. Before I got sick I actually found the strength to stick with a healthy diet and was losing...
  4. I do have celiac, but have a high tolerance. Although I have a high tolerance, I still watch cc. Just because I don't get sick doesn't mean it's not damaging my body. At first I thought it was great that I didn't get sick easy, but I just found out I have been regularly eating a food with gluten, and didn't know it. It explains why I have plateaued on...
  5. It may also be a legal thing. He must require a Dr. note from every employee when sick, or he can't really ask for one from any employee. That can lead to a lawsuit if he said OK to you, but later required one from another employee because he suspected faking. Sadly those of us who try and do right pay for those who are always looking for a way to beat...
  6. I agree, and I'm ticked that I stayed up past my bed time for that.

    ARCHIVED Rip Off

I do have to say, I am not ready to hand my health care over to the government, they run everything else so well. I don't know what it is like in Canada and the UK, but in America there are far too many people who's purpose in life is to drain the system. If we had national health care our ERs would be clogged with people who have colds and hang overs and...
  8. Yesterday a lady I go to church with dropped by the house. She and her mom were shopping in the city and found some already made gluten-free brownies and bought them for me. They were really good too (Whole Foods?). It was just so nice to have someone do something so kind concerning the Celiac. Lately I have felt like I'm on the outside looking in and...
  9. I didn't get to watch last night, had to go to a baby shower, but my bf recorded it so this afternoon we will watch it. As much as I like Blake and want to see him win I don't think he will, but I bet he gets a recording contract. Does anyone else think he kinda looks like a good looking Elmer Fud?
  10. I've been sick all week and I just found out my Malt O Meal Coco Dyno Bites now have wheat. Does anyone one know when this happened? I also just heard that Coco Pebbles are no longer safe. Can anyone shed some light on this?

    ARCHIVED Rip Off

That's too funny! I'm just so upset that the doctor bill was so high compared to the hospital bill. The hospital provided the space, the needed supplies, the two great nurses who did most of the work, spent the most time, and was great with my little girl. The doctor checked her eyes and stitched her up, maybe 15 min. By the way gfp, are you accident...

    ARCHIVED Rip Off

We are a family on a budget, but we have a savings for things like this, so it isn't killing us financially. We have insurance, with meeting the deductible and our % we still have to pay most of it. Since we met her deductible this will be a good year to have her tested for Celiac. gfp: if it were me or my husband we would not have gone to the ER. I...
  13. How about the panic over every little twinge in the stomach area: "Have I been glutened, or is it a normal thing?".
  14. My 4 yr old hit her head and had to go to the ER for stitches (inch + long and all the way to the skull). She is fine, a little trooper. Well I got a $400 ER bill. I paid it and thought that was it. I just got a $485 bill from the ER doctor. The doctor is a separate bill. He cost more than the ER! It was the ER nurses that did all the work. In three...

    ARCHIVED Am I Guilty?

You wouldn't feel guilty if you got rid of the gluten in the house for one of your kids health. It's weird how we sacrifice our health and feel guilty when others have to sacrifice for us, and we would sacrifice in a minute and gladly so if it was for our kids or spouse. A healthy parent is a better parent and worth far more in the long run than a few items...
  16. It makes you wonder if his sister isn't better than he is, although she may not have made it as far, without the support of vote for the worst and 13 year old girls.
  17. I think Blake or Jordan should win, Blake because he is unique, knows his stuff, can perform, and is likable. Jordan because she has the whole package, she is pretty, can sing, perform, and is a little sassy without being obnoxious. Although Melinda and Lakisha can sing they are missing something. Lakisha either projects no personality or a negative...
  18. Although I am glad Sanjaya is gone, I have to ask, what will we talk about? And what is with Blake being in the bottom three and Chris in the safe group? That is wrong!
  19. LOL! It's so funny the different takes everyone has on it. I guess I'm the odd one out. I really dislike country music, but I enjoyed last night more than any other. It wasn't as boring. I do agree Phil was in his element and did well, but I thought Blake was great and I enjoyed Melinda. I'm sick of Lakisha, she can sing but there is something in her...
  20. The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins is a great book! It's a classic, and a mystery, written in a unique way.
  21. I eloped, because I saw too many friends stress over the small details, for one it ruined her wedding day. This is hopefully a one time thing, it cost a lot of money, do what you want. Don't worry if it bucks tradition, don't have regrets later because of trying to do it right. What ever is going to make the day fun and happy for you and the groom is what...
  22. You know, with the exception of my mom who is on the MS diet and my mil who I cook with, I don't eat dinner at other homes. I'm blessed, my family is supportive as are my friends. Having said that, I know how much hidden gluten is out there and how many times I have glutened myself out of ignorance. I don't expect to get a gluten free meal without cross...
  23. No one has the right or the forgiveness to test my reaction. It is my body. For someone to intentionally put something in it, that I have said I do not want to have in it, is a violation. It does not matter if it's because of an allergy, or by a health choice. Because Celiac isn't well know it has no respect. When people have peanut, fish, or dairy allergies...
  24. Aren't kids the greatest source of laughter? That is too funny.
