  1. My favorite rice breads are Rice Almond or Kinnikinic white bread, however I do eat either one on a regular basis. I can eat them cold but they are better heated. I personally prefer to put sandwich fixings on a rice cake open face style. For a tuna melt (tuna and cheese), I heat in a soft corn tortilla and eat like a taco.
  2. If you are willing to travel to Orange County I found Dr. Albers to be very knoweglable. He accepted my diagnosis of celiac based on my original syptoms 29 years ago, improvment on a gluten free diet and my current reaction to very very small amounts of gluten. My celiac has never been confirmed by biopsy or blood test. He is also aware of the neurological...

  6. I have seen several people worry about cancer. I have been gluten free for 29 years. I am now 50 years old. I have had my share of accidental glutenings. over the years. I just had an colonoscopy and an endoscopy. No sign of any cancer. Athough it may be hard to believe but living gluten free becomes easier overtime. One coping strategy I use is...
  7. I had to drank a large glass of prune juice each morning to combat the "C" problem when I was pregnant.
  8. I only use vitamins that are labled on the bottle "No Gluten". I have used Nature Made without any problems. Please note Nature Made is sold at Costco in large sizes which reduces the cost.
  9. I am sorry to here you are so sick. I am scheduled to have my gallbladder out on Aug. 22. I currently have to stay on a very low fat diet in order to avoid being sick. I also have found that I need to eat frequent small meals. I hope you get better soon.
  10. Your exhaustion may have nothing to do with celiac. I suggest a trip to the doctor. My first thought was mononuclosis(sp??).
  11. I am sorry to hear you and your co-workers are sick. You might want to consider calling the heath department. The restaurant should take this more seriously.
  12. I don't even bother with Campbell's products. I have the following rules in place: The less ingredients in a product the better. If in doubt leave it out. If I can not identify all ingredients as being gluten free I don't eat it until I verify the product is gluten free. If a company makes gluten containing products I assume there is the possibility...
  13. On flights that serve food (very few anymore) I have had fairly good luck getting a gluten free meal. I have never tried to order a meal with multiple restrictions. I always, however carry enough of my own food for the flight just in case.
  14. I had an endoscopy along with a colonscopy done about two weeks ago. I was very tired the next day and had a mild headache. For me, I believe it was the anesthesia. Hope you feel better soon.
  15. Does anyone else use the peanut butter. If so, "Double Dipping" could be the problem. I have always used a different brand of peanut butter than the rest of my household to prevent this.
  16. 76 degrees with sunshine along the Southern California Coast. Humidity 60%. I think I'll stay put.
  17. I did not have to fast. I had my levels checked a month ago just to make sure all was well.
  18. I do not live in the NYC area so I can not help you with specific doctors. When I needed to locate a GI recently I looked at on the websites of the universities that had medical schools and hospitals in the area. Both UCLA and UCI (UC = University of CA) had information of their doctors including their interests. I also, contacted the local support group...
  19. The report said small bowel. The section for stomach and esophagus were empty. So I deduce small bowel means small intestine. So far searching the internet I have come up with possibilities baterical overgrowth and Chron's. I am going to keep looking.
  20. I am sorry to here that you cat is sick. I hope Big Boy gets well soon.
  21. Thanks for the information. It really helps.
  22. My endo results are: "Negative for active celiac" - These are the expected results since I have been gluten free for many years "Some chronic inflammation noted though". My appointment with the GI is not until the beginning of October to further explain this. Any one else had this result? Any information would be helpful. Please note I am...
  23. I am going to give general information since I have no idea OBX is. When I go somewhere new I look for stores by looking at the the specialty gluten free food maker sites. They usually have a link to stores that carry their food. I then call the store and get their hours and ask about the selection of gluten free food. The other avenue I use is to...
