  1. I'm looking for polenta? Does anyone use it and what brand? I don't care for the stuff in the tube. The only ground corn product I've found that doesn't make me feel a little funky is Maseca but it's more of a corn flour and not course enough for polenta.
  2. Their actions were certainly deplorable. No question about it. But it is not against the law for a restaurant to refuse to service to a person with food allergies or any special diet (school is a different story). The restaurant was quite rude but they weren't violating a law by refusing to modify a dish. The ADA suggests the request should be accomodated...
  3. Here is another thread with links: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=60735
  4. I love Pioneer Woman! I've been reading her site for several years now and have noticed a few gluten-free recipes on Tasty Kitchen.
  5. I've had good success using the microwave but the time varies and you have to play a little before you get the hang of it. Open Original Shared Link
  6. I second the Zojirushi. Pamela's bread mix works great in it!
  7. I love, love, love my Foodsaver. We use it for everything. I don't recall how much I paid but I think it was about $100. But don't try to save a few bucks on the bags. You have to buy the foodsaver bags. We tried to save $3 by getting the Great Value brand once and half of them didn't seal properly or remain sealed.
  8. I'll add Kirkland spices, frozen Ahi Tuna, Cabot cheese, jasmine rice and Crunchmaster crackers to the list.
  9. Some people just don't tolerate certain gluten-free foods so they might not work for you. There isn't any difference in the No Gluten Ingredients and Gluten-Free labels. I asked them about this a few months ago and here's what they had to say: I can certainly understand your confusion. There is actually no difference. As we reprint our labels, "gluten...
  10. To my knowledge there aren't any dental products that contain gluten so you shouldn't have any issues. My guess is your glutening came from the Olive Garden. I've had a lot of work and fun surgeries and never been glutened (feeling crummy from swallowing stuff is another story). If you call ahead most dentists will check the products for you - many of them...
  11. Since school is starting soon I wanted to pass along a few items: The American Celiac Disease Alliance School Resources has sample documents including a school menu, 504 plan and letter to the teacher: Open Original Shared Link The GIG also has a nice handout for teachers: Open Original Shared Link The Celiac Sprue Association has a section on...
  12. The spice cake mix makes a great carrot cake.
  13. My adventurous soul gets me almost every time too! And why is it that you always get adventurous when you
  14. Here is Kroger's Gluten-Free List. I make a trek to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods every now and then to stock up on the things I can't get at my local groceries! Open Original Shared Link
  15. It does have trace amounts of gluten in it so if you are sensitive you might want to try something else. If you are looking for a calcium supplement Citracal is dairy and gluten free.
  16. I think you are correct - I don't think any of their cereals are gluten-free. There is a question in the FAQ about sprouted grain. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Here are the slightly confusing food labeling fact sheets on meat and poultry: Open Original Shared Link
  18. I love Joan's too. I buy in bulk every few months! I've given them to a few non-celiac friends and they also think they are great. Joan's is a real winner.
  19. They probably have different food service contracts for domestic and international flights and technically LAX to Hawaii is domestic. Regardless I'm a little surprised that they wouldn't offer gluten-free in first class on a flight of that duration. I've noticed that sometimes the airline websites allow you to order gluten-free meals but the telephone reps...
  20. So I am the odd one out because they don't agree with me at all. I've tried them at least 6 times and get the same pesky feeling for about 2 days. I am pretty darn sensitive and most grains don't agree with me - especially when processed to the level of Rice Chex so I'm not necessarily fingering gluten. I've run across a few posters here who don't do well...
  21. There are lot of nasty things stirred up in a remodelling. While it's not all gluten it certainly has the potential to make you ill. There are tons of chemicals and substances floating around a consturction site- especially during the demolotion phase - that can just wreak havock on anyone's systems. This site may point you in the right direction = Open Original...
  22. I'm not so sure Heinz Organic Ketchup is OK in the U.S. Per their Open Original Shared Linkit doesn't sound like it is gluten-free. Are the products offered gluten-free? All Heinz Ketchups, with the exception of Heinz Organic Ketchup, are free of gluten-containing ingredients. Heinz Dijon Mustard also is a product that is free of gluten-containing ingredients...
  23. I love that site! I can always find something useful there. The State Extension Services also have tons of publications on gardening. They have a local Master Gardener program that is a great resource too. It's a volunteer program run at the county or regional level and they can provide excellent information on your local growning environment (soils,...
  24. You may try contacting Pepsico or Frito Lay North America and see if they can clarify the response. I think they are telling you they are gluten-free.
