If the rash is DH as the other poster said it will go away in time. How large and deep was the burn? If it was larger than a quarter and blistered it might be a good idea to have your GP look at it. As for the Neosporin Plus can you get plain neosporin instead? I haven't called on it recently but a while back when I called the company they said the Vitamin...

ARCHIVED Mayo Clinic -- Symptoms
ravenwoodglass replied to timothymichael's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are going to get tested do it now before you go gluten free. Whether to test or not is entirely up to you but if you have a diagnosis then in the future if you have children it will be easier to get their doctors to screen them for celiac periodically. It will also mean you have a preexisting condition for insurance purposes but it also means that... -
ARCHIVED Hand Sanitizer?
ravenwoodglass replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your best bet is to call or email the company and ask. It likely is safe but it is good to check before use. -
It can help some folks. There have been some studies done if you do a search using celiac and schizophrenia you may be able to find some of them. Doing a search with the words neurological and celiac might have some studies come up also.

Congrats on doing so well at getting those numbers down. It is quite possible that your intestines have healed by now and you are absorbing the way you should be. You could ask that they rerun vitamin and mineral panels to make sure your levels are improving. It isn't too soon to ask your doctor if he wants to rescope. Some will want to but others won't think...

ARCHIVED Allergies Are Rampant....
ravenwoodglass replied to gem75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can't say it is the same for you but for me undiagnosed celiac was linked to a lot of my allergies. When I had testing done, skin prick, I showed as allergic to everything but one item and that was beech trees. After I had been gluten free for a few months only 3 true allergies remained out of the 98 that were positive. My allergist said my immune system... -
Some of us get a blistery itchy rash called DH from gluten. However if your symptoms don't improve soon you may want to call your doctor. You can also get the symptoms you are describing, including the rash, from food poisoning.

ARCHIVED Happy Birthday Raven
ravenwoodglass replied to Piccolo's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm kind of having one as it is. My DD was working a 12 hour night shift yesterday so her phone call will come today so still something to look forward to. My kitty and I shared a great day yesterday. He turned 15 and I turned well... 29 again Thanks so much for the good wishes everyone. -
It does sound like you are going through withdrawl and that should end soon. As for the weight loss, I also lost quite a bit very quickly. I went from a size 14 to 16 to a size 2 to 4 within a month. It had me worried but it leveled off quickly and I stayed stable at that size and weight for years after that. Most of what I lost was bloat and it was nice...

It is so nice to age backwards Great to hear you are feeling better. The gluten free lifestyle does take some getting used to but it is so worth it in the end. Happy Anniversary

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Frustration
ravenwoodglass replied to Iluvaceliac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Are you eating gluten free yourself? If not make sure you are brushing your teeth well before kissing. If you bake with gluten flours the flour can remain airborne for a bit after baking so be careful about that. Also you may want to check and make sure any lip products or other toiletries are gluten-free to make sure you are not CCing him when you are 'close... -
Some of us become much more sensitive to gluten after we have removed it from our diet. Could you be getting cross contamination somewhere? Did you call the maker to be sure that the med you are taking is gluten free? If you had positive blood work it might be a good idea to have the panels run again to see if your numbers are going down.

ARCHIVED Glutened And I Don't Know From What!
ravenwoodglass replied to glutenfreeinminnesota's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since you had multiple episodes of D before you took the Immodium your system may have already gotten rid of most of what it needed to. If this happens again and you don't have to go out of the house you might want to just ride it out and let your body clear itself. Perhaps next time you need to take the Immodium you could try one tablet and see if that does... -
ARCHIVED Cross-Contamination At Home
ravenwoodglass replied to Chama-tan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sounds like you need to keep your cooking stuff in a sealed container in your bedroom. If needed put the stuff in something that locks or put it someplace inconvient to get to. There is also another issue that I do hesitate to bring up but if there is major remodeling going on and that involves drywall work you need to be really careful to be sure the rooms... -
ARCHIVED Glutened And I Don't Know From What!
ravenwoodglass replied to glutenfreeinminnesota's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So sorry this happened to you. It is scarey to find blood as I too well know. While it is not real common for us to have bleeding with a glutening it can happen. It happens with me every time I get glutened. However if you do see more blood do talk to your doctor about it. If it is 'free flowing' or if you should have bleeding seepage go to your doctor ASAP... -
ARCHIVED Help Me Understand My Blood Test.
ravenwoodglass replied to Jinkomedy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did they do a total IGA? If your total IGA is low it can keep any IGA related tests in a false negative range. Your doctor should also have done the IGG tests and the newest the DGP. Since false negatives on celiac tests are common when your done with all celiac related testing do go gluten free to see if it helps. -
ARCHIVED Can I Go Gluten-Free Post-Blood Test And Pre-Endo?
ravenwoodglass replied to Sika's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are feeling worse and worse with going back to gluten your body is giving you the answer as to whether you need to be gluten free or not. Some doctors are skipping the biopsy when blood tests come back clearly positive and it is your choice whether to have one done or not. If your having a lower scope in a couple of months you can ask your doctor to... -

ARCHIVED Bingeing Before Biopsy
ravenwoodglass replied to lucky28's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
3 to 4 slices of bread a day is thought to be enough. You will still have a risk of a false negative on the biopsy so glad to hear you are planning on doing the diet. That really is the best test there is. -
ARCHIVED Missed A Funeral...
ravenwoodglass replied to rgarton's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) I'm sorry for your loss and that you are having to deal with a glutening on top of everything else. You don't need to apologize for venting, you are going through a lot right now. -
Have you eliminated iodine from your supplements and diet? The iodine can keep the antibodies active in skin. Also be sure you have eliminated gluten ingredients from your toiletries and be very careful about CC. It can take a while for lesions to heal but hopefully you will stop getting new ones soon.

ARCHIVED Enterolabs
ravenwoodglass replied to wildapple's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IMHO yes it is. You could also see a derm and get a biopsy done to confirm DH. Just make sure the derm knows that you suspect DH and make sure they do the biopsy properly. It needs to be done on the skin next to the rash. -
ARCHIVED 2011 List Of Safe Alcoholic Drinks
ravenwoodglass replied to lucky97's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Clear Rums are going to be safe, I like Bacardi's. Gin is safe if you like it. Tequila is also safe. Many celiacs do tolerate distilled gluten, I am not one of them so I go with either Rum or Woodchuck cider or wine if I am out. Club soda should be fine as well as Pepsi but use care with mixers. I also try to use a bottled soda rather than the speed bar... -
ARCHIVED Reactivation Or Something Else?
ravenwoodglass replied to momxyz's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It can take a few days for a reaction to show up. In myself it takes about 3 days even in the beginning when I was on an elimination diet. My doctor said that is not uncommon and was the reason he told me to eat the suspect food 3 times a day for a week, or until the reaction. If you suspect the reaction may have come from a particular item you could do a...
