  1. I hope the tests have some conclusive results for you, although I always hate to say I hope someone's tests are postive. It sounds like your body is telling you that it doesn't want you to consume gluten. You felt better on the diet and saw symptoms return on gluten. You have a good chance of a false negative on testing since you had been gluten free for...
  2. Sure can relate. Although I don't vomit the pain you describe is quite familiar with a glutening. It comes for me in intesifying waves that are strong enough to break me out in a sweat and make me feel like I am going to faint. When the D hits me it last painfully for hours, usually about 5 to 7, and is accompanied by bleeding that continues for another ...
  3. Yes that does happen but that is the bodies way of protecting us. Celiac or gluten intolerant the body is forming antibodies that can attack any organ including the brain. Even if the biopsy is negative with positive blood tests she need to be strictly gluten free. You should also have all first degree relatives tested whether they seem to have symptoms or...
  4. Milky Way DARK are one of my favorites. The regular are not safe. I got 2 this afternoon, one for today and one for tomorrow. I have to admit I ate them both in one sitting.
  5. Phyllo dough, I really miss apple turnovers, spanakopita and baklava and pita bread with pockets so I can make the meat pies I used to make at the restaurant I worked at for years. (Sigh)
  6. Welcome to the club in the gene dept. I have an oddball gene myself and am soooo very thankful I didn't get gene testing until years after I was diagnosed and healed. You had postive blood tests, you had relief on the diet and that is what is the most important anyway. Glad to hear you are listening to your body. It also sounds like Canada make sit as difficult...
  7. A lite amount of warm olive oil applied to the area might help a bit also. It would help loosen particles and moisturize.
  8. Off Topic but Marz that is the cutest kitten picture I have seen in a long time.
  9. Three weeks on gluten is likely not long enough for a postive biopsy after you have been healed for as long as you have. You would need to continue on gluten for at least 3 months. There is no reason, other than to line the doctors pockets, for you to continue the challenge now that you are clearly reacting. Your in pain, your bleeding. That is a good reason...
  10. You are not the only one who beats yourself up, I spent years going over every misstep I have ever made in my life (and being much older than you there have sure been alot!) and dwelling on them endlessly until I felt I didn't even deserve a life. Then a very smart person who I see regularly, although not as much now, told me to start looking at the good...
  11. Once you get the gluten issue under control a good physical therapist can help a great deal.
  12. Jason you have been beating yourself up for this for a very long time now. Please get the counseling that has been encouraged by so many for so long. We do care and do wish we could help but the one who has to be the person to end these feelings is you. It is not a sign of weakness to seek professional help, it is a sign of strength. I do hope you will do...
  13. If I had not finally been diagnosed 8 years ago there is no doubt I would not be here as I was very close to death by then. My mom passed when only a year older than I am of what was undoubtedly a celiac related cancer and my twin had autoimmune liver destruction that was also likely from celiac and passed in his teens. I am now in my midfifties and healthier...
  14. Crest is fine. Suave makes a kids combo shamoo and body wash that is wonderful, I use it myself. Dove, Suave and Garneir clearly list gluten ingredients in their lines. Do avoid any that might have oats.
  15. Yes it can when it impacts us neurologically. I lost reflexes in both legs in childhood and by the time I had been gluten free 2 years they had returned, over 40 years later. I also walk much more normally now.
  16. Encourage him to study hard and if they have programs in your area that allow high schoolers to go into a local hospital to study that can help give him a good idea of what field he wants to go into. My DD did one here that allowed her to get some college courses out the way in high school She started out in college in the Neuroscience program because of...
  17. Mine didn't either just wanted to give me shots in the joints, send me to a pain clinic to 'learn to live with the pain' and prescribe pill after pill, some of which were later removed from the market. My arthritis has been in remission since a couple months after I started the diet.
  18. Do get a copy of the test results. If they are positive it sounds like your doctor will consider you diagnosed. Since there is a chance of a false negative with the biopsy anyway some doctors are diagnosing without one. After you are done with all the testing you choose to do give the diet a good strict try no matter what the results of testing.
  19. I would ask an internist or your GP to run a full celiac panel. It couldn't hurt and you wouldn't need a referral. Then if you feel that you really need to see a GI for biopsy ask to see one. If your blood tests are positive some doctors now skip the biopsy and just diagnose since the biopsy has a fairly high rate of false negatives. Be aware that the blood...
  20. I am so glad you were able to get your son gluten free early enough for it to do some good. I hope you gave those doctors a good 'I told you so!!'. I couldn't get the doctors to put two and two together either even though my son went from the 65th percentile to the -10. They instead accused me of not feeding him. I even told his ped that all he would eat...
  21. Yep and gluten has the same potential. That is the reason why so many of us go through withdrawl.
  22. It can be tough but it can help if you keep in mind that these doctors are working for you. Do as the other poster suggested and you might find this link helpful Open Original Shared Link When all testing is done go ahead and give the diet a good strict try. False negatives are not uncommon at all so do go by what your body tells you on the diet.
  23. Please cancel your order as those are not safe. Many vitamins that you can pick up in a local store are safe. Country Life and Now are two brands and some store brands may also be safe. Many Wegmans brand vitamins are gluten free for example.
  24. If your feeling better gluten free then it is because you need to be gluten free. Whether you are celiac or gluten intolerant you need to be just as strict. My tests were all negative also and many doctors went by those results as I get sicker and sicker. Because of false negative tests and doctors taking the tests as proof positive my diagnosis was delayed...
  25. Your not the only one who has lived long term off of immodium. Doctors told me the same thing. Try not to worry too much about the cancer issue. Your chances of developing cancer go down each day you are gluten free and in about 5 years it will be the same as someone without celiac. I seem to recall seeing research somewhere that said that a celiac eating...
