ARCHIVED Tests, Tests, And More Tests
ravenwoodglass replied to kujhawkrulz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You know I had the same thing happen when I had a heart stress test. I have allergies to some adhesives and you may also. If you go to have another colonoscopy done make sure the doctor knows that happened. Who knows you may be healing enough so you don't need another scope and can cancel or postpone. Glad to hear that you are having some success with the... -
ARCHIVED Tests, Tests, And More Tests
ravenwoodglass replied to kujhawkrulz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My gosh do you have the same doctors I did! Your results from the lower scope sound just like mine as do many of your symptoms so I know how much you are suffering. I have been on this board for almost 13 years and I am going to say something I have never said before.... IMHO you should simply go gluten free. Going gluten free is not going to impact testing... -

Perhaps this will also lead to better and less barbaric ways of getting us diagnosed. -
ARCHIVED Our Eloise In Uk For Organ Transplant This Pm
ravenwoodglass replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Eloise got out of surgery at about 6am Ireland time. They did the double lung and pancreas transplant. She did well and her color has returned to normal which is a good sign. She is of course still critical so do keep those prayers coming. Please also do not forget to add prayers for the family of the little boy or girl who, even in their grief, thought... -
ARCHIVED Multivitamin Recommendation
ravenwoodglass replied to Nikki2777's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
BB11 I would not take it. I also wouldn't take any vitamin with wheat or barley grass. It is important to read the whole ingredient list on any supplements we take as labeling laws are different for drugs and supplements. I should note that if you are not celiac you might tolerate them but personally I would choose something else. -
ARCHIVED Our Eloise In Uk For Organ Transplant This Pm
ravenwoodglass replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I don't know. I am thinking they will go for the lung and pancreas both as both are badly needed. The poor child has been through so much and is in very serious condition. This family has had so much sadness to deal with I pray God gives her the strength to pull though and heal. -
ARCHIVED Our Eloise In Uk For Organ Transplant This Pm
ravenwoodglass posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The moderation team and admin would like to let everyone know that this thread is an elaborate hoax and the person who started it has been banned. "Miss Eloise" was posing as multiple family members of someone with serious medical issues. Miss Eloise was not being genuine and stole information and pictures from other websites. We have learned that Miss... -
ARCHIVED Multivitamin Recommendation
ravenwoodglass replied to Nikki2777's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take a women's One Daily put out by Wegmans if you have a store near you. Reasonable price and have had no problems with it. Do ask your doctor if you should drop your D supplement when you start a multi. The doc may want to recheck your levels. -

ARCHIVED When Will Growth Go Back To Normal? Do All Kids Have Catch Up Growth?
ravenwoodglass replied to albauer94's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
3/4 of an inch in a couple of months when he only grew 1.5 inches in a year sounds like not a bad spurt. He hasn't been gluten free for very long and chances are good that he will catch up in time. Try not to worry too much as you caught celiac early but it will take some time for him to heal. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free For Lyme Cure
ravenwoodglass replied to Embers's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Celiac many times will become active after the body goes through some stressor either mental or physical. If you have celiac it may have been triggered by you becoming ill with Lyme Disease. If you want to know whether you are celiac or not you need to do a gluten challenge and get a celiac panel and an endoscopy done. Any MD can order a celiac panel for... -
ARCHIVED Tests, Tests, And More Tests
ravenwoodglass replied to kujhawkrulz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I second the (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Many of us know how hard it is when we are so very sick and doctors keep telling us that we are just a 'nut case'. Many a time I left a doctors office only to sit and cry in my car. I hope you have good luck at your appointment today and are able to finish... -
ARCHIVED Tests, Tests, And More Tests
ravenwoodglass replied to kujhawkrulz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Everyone heals at a different rate and some symptoms may resolve long before other ones do. It took a long time for us to become so sick and it takes some time for the antibody reaction to resolve. Your symptoms are very similiar to mine. As for that MRI look up UBOs or Unidentified Bright Objects on a site like PubMed or something similiar. They are... -
ARCHIVED Dh Suffering In My Own Skin
ravenwoodglass replied to Cowboyjake24's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Welcome to the board. How strict are you being with the diet? Unfortunately when we have celiac we have to be very careful not only with what we eat but how it is prepared. If you are eating in restaurants it would be a good idea to stop for a bit. You also should drop iodine from your diet for a while until your lesions heal. If your salt baths are using... -
ARCHIVED Medication And Wheat/gluten
ravenwoodglass replied to Kaukaukka's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Exactly! In addition there are meds that can be absorbed through the skin and that should not be handled by anyone other than the person for whom they were prescribed. In handling meds with your bare hands you are endangering not only the person for whom they were prescribed but also yourself. -
ARCHIVED Medication And Wheat/gluten
ravenwoodglass replied to Kaukaukka's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Put on gloves please before you handle meds. I am surprised your pharmacey even lets you handle meds without them. That will take care of any possible contamination. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free, But Still Tiny
ravenwoodglass replied to NZions's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome to the board. Have they rechecked his antibody levels to see if they are coming down? If you haven't you should do so. Even a tiny bit of gluten will keep the antibodies active and keep him from healing. Is he the only celiac in the family? If he is are you doing all you need to prevent cross contamination? If you haven't already you should read... -
ARCHIVED Is It Common For Doctors To Think A Young Celiac Adult Has Cancer?
ravenwoodglass replied to shiffy k's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Your doctor may just be a very cautious doctor who wants to make sure that you are lymphoma free. Do make sure that your doctor has prescribed gluten free barium for the test. Not all is gluten free. You may want to ask your doctor if he does this routinely or if he saw something in either your blood work or the first endo that is making him want to do these... -
ARCHIVED Possible Gluten Reaction And Weird Vision Issues?
ravenwoodglass replied to miles wales's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My eyes also changed color. They went from a dark brown, to a startling light brown and then very soon after that to a green hazel. I have no idea if that is related at all to celiac although I was a young celiac at the time. However you should see an eye doctor to be on the safe side. There are times when changes in eye colour can be significant and an indication... -

ARCHIVED In The Middle Of A Possible Diagnosis?
ravenwoodglass replied to kadege's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Instead of doing a challenge to see if you can raise the antibody levels again maybe just have those levels rechecked without the challenge to make sure they really are down. How are you doing symptom wise? If your symptoms have gotten better IMHO that would be a better way to go than making yourself sick again. -
ARCHIVED Possible Lymphoma Cancer Again.
ravenwoodglass replied to Celiac Ninja's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope that the 'may be back' turns into a whoops it wasn't that it was_________ and that soon the symptoms that have you thinking the cancer may be back resolve. Glad you have a doctor you trust. Maybe check into acupuncture to help with some of your symptoms. It may help. -
ARCHIVED Urinary Leakage
ravenwoodglass replied to New Community Member's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think the only way this would be celiac related would be if someone had significant neurological impact from celiac. If that was the case the problem would be present at diagnosis. If someone has been diagnosed for some time and is compliant with the diet IMHO it is unlikely to be celiac related. -
ARCHIVED Sunmaid Golden Raisins
ravenwoodglass replied to bartfull's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Do they need to be refrigerated? Thanks for providing the 'recipe'. Would be great if it works so let us know. I hate gin but if it helps give some relief it is welll worth choking them down.
