  1. Well it sounds like you did a gluten challenge and it was positive. What did you use for the challenge? I wouldn't be so sure it isn't gluten and not just wheat at this point. Exclude gluten in all forms for a bit, to be safe. You could then challenge with a wheat free but not gluten free product AFTER you are healed to confirm the gluten part of the...
  2. Hi, Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. You do sound busy! I hope things continue on the upswing healthwise. Glad to know your doing well. Krista
  3. Yes, it can take some time for your body to heal. The best way to do that quickly is to eat just whole, unprocessed for sure gluten free foods for a bit until your body is healed. Make sure you have checked ALL meds you take, check yourself don't trust your doctor to know. Make sure any supplements you take are gluten free also. Some of us also have an...
  4. I use both Hempmilk and hemp protein. I like the chocolate hempmilk for smoothies, it is nice and thick and creamy and has the highest protein level of any of the milks, if that is what your looking for. The protein is also very easily digested.
  5. There are quite a few of us who have elevated liver enzymes before diagnosis. The autoimmune process can effect any organ and for some the liver is effected. I am glad they found the cause before more damage was done. Once the anitbodies clear your enzyme levels should also go back to normal levels, an effect you have seen for yourself. What the exact...
  6. Susie your not alone, I also get ribbon stools from gluten and for me soy also. I had the 'rabbit turds', my Mom's term, for most of my life until I turned to daily D for 15 years. My poor body tried so hard to draw what it needed from my food, it eventually got so damaged all it could do was run things through. Some of us have abnormal stools for so long...
  7. Hi Sunny, I should have mentioned that I am also eating 1,000 calories over my reccommended amount. I have been aiming at 3,000 calories a day. I don't think I would worry about them causing a weight gain if your eating 'normal' number of calories for your needs. If you have been having issues with constant hunger and having trouble keeping your calorie...
  8. Just add them one at a time please. You want to know what does not agree with you if something doesn't.
  9. Do you live in a dorm? Do you have an 'offical' doctor derived diagnosis? The reason why I ask is because if the answer to both is yes and you have paid to eat at your cafeteria you need to let the powers that be at your school know. My DD was about to go into college when she was diagnosed. Her college put her in senior housing her freshman year (her...
  10. Your body. Challenge it by taking it at least 3 times a day with no other suspect items for a week. If after a week you still feel fine then that particular brand of that item will be something you can add.
  11. Hi, I didn't check back on this post for a bit. Sorry it took so long. I get the Maxi-hair vitamins and the Royal Jelly at my local health food store. The Country Life vitamin is the Maxi Hair, it does contain Iodine and I have severe DH. I wasn't able to take it at first but after all my lesions were totally cleared it seemed okay and I have taken...
  12. Many companies don't know exactly what is in the fragrances and the vehicle or other chemical components for them can be derived from a gluten grain oil or alcohol.
  13. Are you taking any meds or supplements? Have you called the companies that make them to check for gluten statis? Have you tried eliminating dairy? Many of us have problems with casien, milk protein as well as lactose, milk sugar. Did you eliminate gluten from non-food items? Things like shampoos, toiletries, lotions etc.? How about crafting or remodeling...
  14. When I contacted them a while ago they told me the only gluten-free products they have are the unscented lotion for sensitive skin. I didn't ask about the bar soap but if it has a fragrance it most likely is not safe. I usually won't use any products by any company that tells me since I don't eat it, it is safe. I don't feel they will actually give me...
  15. You don't always have other allergies but many of us do. There are times when the system goes into hyperdrive trying to protect us from the gluten and that can make us react to just about everything. Most of us will see this subside after we have been gluten free for a bit. When I refer to a dietary challenge with gluten what I mean is that after someone...
  16. Your talking about being really strict about the diet, which is good. But have you eliminated it from all your personal care products also? A lot of doctors either don't think to mention it or don't think it matters. Even stuff like hair color, shampoos and face makeup can be an issue. Also have you checked all your scripts and supplements for gluten...
  17. How are you feeling today? Gluten reactions are often delayed. When I did my challenge during the elimination diet the doctor told me to be sure to add the suspect item in for a week and that the effects might not show up for a few days after injestion. He was right and it took 4 days for the gluten reaction to hit, when it hit it hit hard though. If...
  18. "I love them so I listen to all their complaints but it is really getting on my nerves" I know this is going to sound mean but I would cut them off every time they start to complain about celiac related issues with, 'I don't want to hear it, that is related to celiac and I can't help you until you decide to help yourself. It hurts me to hear you complain...
  19. As you have seen you are not alone. It is hard to believe that in other countries dentists are often the first to suggest celiac testing, here we just get grief because they think we only brush out teeth right before the visit. It is disgusting. A lot of us would have been diagnosed in childhood because the effects on our mouth in other countries, but...
  20. It sounds like your parents are right on top of this. Good. The smoking issue is a hard one. She really should have respected your right to a smoke free home. Heck I am a smoker and my DS has problems with it also. Even in my own home I curtail the amount I smoke when he is here. It is just polite. I know you will be happy to get out of there. I hope...
  21. My best guess would be the CC issue and or the Cheetos. Leaning strongly toward CC though.
  22. I am glad you made it through everything well. Be aware that the findings he has already had can be celiac related and if they are they will clear up on the diet. If the doctor handed you some scripts make real sure when you take them that they are gluten free. Ask the pharmacist to give you the info sheet when you fill the scripts and then call the phone...
  23. If you are going to go with dairy yogurt and hard cheeses are the best things to leave in. The lactose is partially digested in these in the making and they may be tolerable. I would switch to a for sure gluten-free yogurt but if the discomfort continues even a week off of it may give you some relief and let you know if that is what is getting to you when...
  24. Hi Brian, I am so sorry to hear this. Maybe once they clear this infection things will finally start to improve for you. I don't have any answers but can give ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))
  25. Yes the vomiting could be celiac related. My DD had ulcers and vomitting as a main symptom, she never had much D. I would find her lying on the bathroom floor shaking, pale and afraid to leave the room on a monthly basis. The vomiting was not a constant thing for her. I would stop taking those fish oil capsules and see if things improve.
