  1. I hate that celiac killed my mother so young. I hate that she lived so many years off toast because it was good for an upset tummy. I hate that celiac destroyed my twins liver. I hate that I am so sensitive to CC that I bleed. I hate that I am so afraid of cancer because of so many years of misdiagnosis. I hate that my hands, always my best feature,...
  2. I am so sorry for your loss. She was the same age my Mom was when she 'went home' to join my twin brother. That thought gave me great comfort at the time. It is always so hard to miss someone you love. I'm so sorry it is always so hard on those left behind.
  3. In addition to the good advice already given have you made sure to get rid of all possible sources of contamination, everything from soaps and shampoos, drywall dust and compound, glues, chalk for chalkboards, meds you take etc. Are you trying to eat out, do you drink distilled alcohols, do you eat alot of mainstream foods? Before I got relief from my...
  4. Thanks everyone for your replies. I have decided I will definately not be undergoing any kind of procedure again any time soon, read for years and years. I wanted to find out what is causing the GI bleeds with glutenings or the one time I have had food poisoning since diagnosis and if it is related to the fact that 'my intestines are in the wrong place...
  5. I used Carnation Instant Breakfast Powder, check and make sure you know which ones are still gluten free as I haven't used it in a while. I know the chocolate malt at the ready to drink were not at the time I used it. I added a one double strength serving a couple times a day for an extra 1000 calories. If you are avoiding milk this would not work for...
  6. This really jumped out at me. Are you still having any of this type symptom, has it returned or have you had other problems with pins and needles sensations in other areas of your body? Do you yourself have any even seemingly unrelated health problems? The reason I ask is for years we thought I had carpal tunnel, it turned out to be related to my bodies...
  7. Welcome to the boards. Yes, I had neurological symptoms for over 20 years before GI problems were severe and not intermittent or thought to be normal - ie. gas and tummy rumbling. You may want your doctor to do a celiac panel, stress a full one, and also a panel to register your B12, folate and iron levels at the very minimum. Ask for a copy of your full...
  8. Your gut will produce copious quantities of mucous to try and protect a toxin from getting through. Have you had any other symptoms of a glutening? How much pain are you in? If you are not showing signs of a glutening and are in pain I would think about contacting the doctor if it continues or is accompanied by blood and cramping.
  9. You got great and complete answers from the other posters, I just want to add in my agreement, it can not be stressed enough that testing for celiac is woefully inadaquate, even my GI said so the other day, of course he would like to feel less blameless for all the years of damage while I lived with the IBS diagnosis that he gave me years before I was finally...
  10. " I'm looking to replace all of my Kinnkinnick products after the horrible discovery I made about PEA PROTEIN being nothing more than MSG. " First off where did you get this info? Do you have a link to it and was it info that you found in more than one source? I eat Kinnikinnick products all the time and would be interested in seeing more about this...
  11. On the Prilosec issue, ask the pharmacist for the leaflet that comes with the drug, there should be a phone number you can call on that. Generics can be risky. St. Joesphs baby asprin is for sure gluten-free, I take it anytime I need an analgesic.
  12. Welcome, you have come to a great place for knowledge and support. I am glad you know to look into this now. My whole family has celiac or gluten intolerance, the precursor (IMHO). My childhood was much like your sons, the enema bag was never put away at our house. But there was nothing wrong with me. Yea right. The one thing I can not stress enough...
  13. I also get severe stomach pain when glutened, I take pepto and that helps a great deal without a lot of side effects other than dark stool. As to the fibro, mine was severe and long standing in addition to having arthritis and ataxia. I was on canes before I was diagnosed. All fibro and arthritis symptoms were gone within a couple months gluten-free, unless...
  14. Ah but they did by using the word Durum, and yes they just assume we all know that is what it is.
  15. They did the procedure in an outpatient surgical facility. I talked to hubby a few minutes ago cause I thought he would remember more than I did. He said the doctor said I had multiple ulcers in my stomach and he did take some biopsies of the duodenum. DH said the doc said that in addition to the swelling that doc said I have a lot of adhesions, that...
  16. I am so disappointed and so angry. I had my endo and colonoscopy done today. They used sedatives and versed. I was quite awake when the procedure started and got to hear my doc saying more versed over and over. I remember quite a bit of pain but then the versed fortunatlely kicked. He had to end up stopping the procedure because of the discomfort of...
  17. "The "war on drugs" costs hundred of millions, if not billions each year. Legalize it, regulate it, and tax it. It'd be 100 times better for our country than fighting it." An added benefit might be that the United States might not be THE country that has the largest proportion of its population in jails or on parole. More of our people are in prisions...
  18. It also makes me wonder if they can make it from wheat do they also make it from barley, they wouldn't even have to disclose that on the label.
  19. Do not eat those, durum is the name for a variety of wheat. They are not safe.
  20. These have a high risk of CC. It is nice that they support the foundation but IMHO the best support they could give would be to not produce these in the same place as gluten ingredients. It's a crap shoot, no pun intended, with items with that disclaimer, sometimes they may be okay, sometimes they won't. If you are early in your healing stages personally...
  21. This is a first for me. I suppose I should have known that it was possible but I have never heard of this. Who knew you could derive glucose from wheat, just another ingredient we have to watch out for.
  22. Yep it did, you need to make sure whenever you have any tests done that you are given gluten free barium, it does exist. I have been poisoned the same way. I will never have any other testing done without having it in writing that what they are giving me is CERTIFIED as gluten free. Unfortunately most times they just don't care if they make you sick,...
  23. "join cristina carlino, brand creator and dara lynn, director of consumer education on QVC April 14th as they present a Today's Special Value kit of new and exciting philosophy products that will change your skin forever! this Today's Special Value kit brings you brand new technology from philosophy" Just a heads up to folks, when ya order a TSV kit you...
  24. And you are free to think so. I used to teach a Drug, Sex and Alcohol education and prevention program for a major youth organization and also taught it to middle and high school kids, until our government cut funding off unless it taught abstinance only. I could not condone that type of regulation so I left the position. Now just a few years after this...
  25. Also google gluten and neurological that will bring up should bring up some good papers. If you search here for 'neurological manifestations' there was a link to a good paper also.
