  1. AndreaB - Funds are tight, but I am not eating much, so hypotheically I could save up for the test, I just don't think I have it, not just because of this limited result, but my symptoms don't seem to be the correct ones. My allergist was willing to do the IgG testing for the 10-12 foods that I am eating, but the problem is I am not having the same reactions...
  2. AndreaB & CarlaB - Yes I got a copy of the tests, sadly the Lyme just said "negative" there was nothing more specific than that. Rachel - with the exception of the possibility of a gluten fairy coming in and sprinkling gluten into my mouth while I am dreaming, no. I have everything written down that I ate pre-test and I have gone through it and cannot...
  3. Does it make any sense why my IgA would be HIGHER now than it was 4 months ago? Are these tests that inaccurate or is something else going on?
  4. So I met with the allergist yesterday. 1. I am not allergic to any food 2. I am allergic to dust mites, oak pollen, dogs and cats 3. It looks like I had mono back in June (by comparing blood work from then and now), and that I do not have it now 4. I do not have Lymes disease and I am not pregnant - again 5. My IgE and gliadin antibodies are still...
  5. 1. If they weren't submerged then maybe the gluten protein was too large to be carried in the steam 2. You were very lucky. 3. You were lucky in the sense you did not react, but probably still ingested gluten and may be causing damage to your intestines. Those are my guesses.
  6. If you are new to the gluten-free game you may also still be consuming something that contains gluten. I thought I was gluten free for a month and wondering why things weren't improving and come to find out my multivitamin had wheat as its binding starch. Granted not as much wheat as said cereal, but it takes a while to find all the nooks and crannies...
  7. I am planning on bringing all of my own food. My family "gets it" but they do not have any gluten-free utensils. My mom loves to bake, so I would rather not risk flour getting into/onto my things. You could bring the NYT article about gluten free pizza/restaurants that ran a month or two ago. It has a basic description of celiac disease and is engaging...
  8. Kassandra - I am glad you got down some liver and found my letter comical. I had 7 bms yesterday, and I feel like new human being today. (besides the mild migraine... but apparently not all of my body can be functioning properly all at the same time... yet) I think it is amazing that a person can have daily bms but still be that constipated. Everyone...
  9. You can totally make pate! Big trick is making sure to tightly cover the made pate with plastic wrap. Air (specifically oxygen) will discolor the pate. Again, I have never made it, but its really easy and good way to flavor livers, which can be a little funky. You can also treat them like kidneys and soak them in milk and then water to help clean them...
  10. Yes pate it is an "haute" food, but its also from the school of "using the whole animal" as with other traditions of offal (which where often made from poor/cheap pieces of organ meat). The key with pate is texture. You need a food processor that is powerful so you get a smooth finish to the product. Many include cream, but making yourself, you can omit...

    ARCHIVED Fiber?

Citrucel is labeled as "gluten free" Psyllium husk is its main ingredient (which you can buy as is, at many natural/whole food stores) Flax seeds and/or flax seed meal is another option. You can add them to your gluten-free baking, sprinkle on gluten-free cereals, in yogurt (if you can tolerate dairy), etc. I personally cannot tolerate either and...
  12. Its a shame Martha Stewart has cw on "Living" It would be a much better and more appropriate title
  13. It sounds like the weekly weigh-ins are one tool, and perhaps can be viewed as a suggestion. If you don't want to go into your past history, I think its completely reasonable to say that coming in once a week to step on the scale is not something you can fit into your schedule right now. Give the doc some line about how you know how important it is to...
  14. Dear Gycolax, I forgot how amazing you are. Sure you taste like plastic, and it lingers and lingers long after you go down the hatch. I had lost hope in you and your powers, but then I realized that 24-48 hours is your window, and boy do you work magic. I hope we don't need to be friends for long, but for right now I would hug you if I could. xoxo...
  15. Kassandra - pate might be an option to get liver into your body, its much tastier (although more expensive), not all liver is disgusting and I think eating it mixed in with other things would make it more tolerable Jin - The Glucerna apparently was a 1-time thing, the next day I tried it and regurgitated it I am back to the hypoallergenic baby formula...
  16. Oh, and I am not pregnant, for the 5th time in 3 months they told me that. To which I respond, "yeah, I know, thanks." I also don't have syphilis... HUGE relief.
  17. Thanks, cc is a good point but I think its an absolute impossibility. -I have separate utensils/contains, I use a clean dish towel for the counter and doing my dishes (my roommates stay away and are respectful) -I changed all of my hair/face/beauty stuff a few months ago... even though I think it was not a possibility -I left my job at a bakery back...
  18. Ok ladies and gents... I got a call from a doctor (not mine) that my labs are in and that everything is near perfect. (thyroid, hormones, blood count, lyme negative) The exceptions: It appears that I had mono in the past (which I did, when I was 17) but there is no current infection -My IgG levels are elevated, indicating an allergic reaction -My...
  19. Scratch everything I said. I just reacted to both baby formulas that were "safe." I am running out of patience here.
  20. Dandelion - that is an excellent point! I cannot drink gatorade or any other sports drink, but I found that adding celtic or gray sea salt to my water has helped me a lot. It is hard to stay hydrated, but I found once I worked up to 64oz+ of water a day, I really notice it when I skimp. The author of "Healing Digestive Illness" cites a connection between...
  21. For anyone else who is in a rough spot digesting or absorbing nutrients, here is my review of products I have tried thus far. Note, these are just MY reactions and opinions. I have not included prices, because they vary depending on where you live/shop, but the baby formulas are MUCH more expensive than the protein powders. Dread ratings are my overall...
  22. This is a vegan recipe a friend of mine made up... 1 tbsp coconut oil 1 cup risotto rice* 2 cups water 1 can coconut milk pinch of salt maple syrup to taste (handful of shredded coconut and/or nuts optional) -Bring water and oil to a boil. -Add rice, reduce to a simmer. Stir occasionally till rice is cooked through. -Off the heat add...
  23. I second the "you did a great job responding/explaining" I think it is really telling about our society (I am making a broad-sweeping generalization here) that "thin" is so valuable that sickness and thin is preferable to healthy and fat. (even if there is a misunderstanding about the illness) I cannot tell you how many people have come up to me and...
  24. Jin - it also may take a few days for your eyes to adjust (which can cause headaches) to your new glasses, because they have been working so hard to compensate. So if your headaches don't go away right away the new glasses, don't be discouraged.
  25. kitchen sponge using said sponge to clean out a gluten-containing pot and then using the same sponge to do gluten-free dishes separate cleaning sponges, use a fresh dish towel or paper towel each time
