  1. My Mom and I just got back from a fabulous dinner at Park 75 in the Atlanta four Seasons. They are having a gluten-free next week and we accidently came a week too early! Anyways, the staff, manager, and chefs were great and VERY accommodating! My Mother is gluten-free and so am I but I am also a vegan. Since we were not there for the planned gluten-free...
  2. There are so many great restaurants in Manhattan and with a few hours to kill you could go anywhere. I'd suggest going down to Risotteria because it is fabulous! Open Original Shared Link Also, here is a New York list of restaurants with gluten-free menus- just look for the NYC ones: Open Original Shared Link Have fun!
  3. I love your Bento Boxes, Missy'sMom!
  4. I went to Amazon France and Canada and searched for "sans gluten' and found these listings: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Good luck and enjoy Africa!
  5. We use Arrowhead Mills: Open Original Shared Link I make this often and my Mother and brother enjoy eating it. Also, my non-Celiac friend is always asking me to make us pizza- he thinks it is great (and I have to agree)!
  6. Happy birthday!
  7. Have you shown her what happens to his insides when he has gluten? Does she know it can stunt his growth and lead to cancer? Maybe she needs to be scared into providing good food or his Dad needs to say something. Or worst case, maybe she shouldn't be allowed to care for him then. He cannot heal if he is getting glutened by her. It is not fair to him...
  8. I would also suggest looking into gluten-free vegan recipes or products. If it is vegan you know it won't have casein. Also, a lot of vegan recipes are already gluten-free. It is easy to find yummy casein-free things and I hope your little girl thrives off of life without gluten and casein! Good luck!
  9. I eat at Cheese Burger In Paradise in Atlanta. I like the Son of a Son of a Sailor salad without wantons, balsamic vinaigrette on the side, and french fries. They should have a gluten-free menu. Have fun!
  10. Wow, that is cool, especially since I am a vegan and our family has a history of arthritis.
  11. You shouldn't feel guilty. My Brother and I have never thought to blame our Mom. I think it makes us all closer anyway. I think if I had children and they didn't have Celiac Disease I would feel weird. I know I would have a gluten-free house and it would just be hard to not have my way of life be passed down to my kids. Though, I have been gluten-free...
  12. Baltimore is great! The surrounding cities have some good gluten-free things to offer, too. CHeck out Sweet Sin's baked goods and the food at Great Sage. Downtown Baltimore has a few restaurants with gluten-free menus, too. Good luck!
  13. A few weeks ago my Mother and I went to an O'Charley's in Gatlinburg, TN. We told the hostess of our problems when she seated us and she preceded to get us a manager. He had a book full of lists and nutritional information on every item. It was great and the food was the best. My Mom ate so well and so did I. Shortly after that, my Mother and Father...
  14. You could just contact them yourself. That way you can keep a steady contact the whole time and feel better prepared when eating there. Plus, salads are always an option!
  15. Sometimes my bread falls, too. I don't know how to fix it, though! Good luck!
  16. Aw, that's great, Kaiti!
  17. That's very cool.
  18. If it is the kind that has the pan and paddle that are dishwasher-safe then maybe.
  19. I had my Medic Alert bracelet customized. I saw a designer I liked and e-mailed her to see if she could take the Medic Alert emblem and incorporate it into her bracelet design. She did it and I LOVE it. It is not only cute but purposeful. You can do anything!
  20. I am a gluten-free vegan and it is not hard being so. Open Original Shared Link is a great resource for vegetarian and vegan Celiacs. When you first start out gluten-free just stick to fresh veggies and fruits and make your way slowly into the gluten-free world. The pasta and bread will be new but at least tofu is still available!
  21. I used to babysit a lot but now not so much. One summer I sat for triplets the whole summer. I washed my hands a lot and they did their. They also were not allowed to play with Play-Doh while I was there. I had no problems and kept things clean clean clean. If you are not comfortable with that then do what others are saying by helping gluten-free kids...
  22. Ih my gosh, I get the same way! It's totally frustrating and heartbreaking.
  23. I have had to deal with this type of thing in the U.S. and on my study abroad in Europe. You could take a cold lunch but there is no need. I always take self-contained snacks and fruit. Make sure you have plenty for both ways and that you eat well during the trip, though.
  24. Gelatin is not necessary. Look at all the gluten-free vegetarian/vegan baked goods without it.
