  1. I would take fruits and veggies on picnics.
  2. I agree with Heather about that last point. My Mother and brother weren't diagnosed until over a year after I was. My Mom would always try and say things but I was a senior in High School and would get so annoyed by it. I tried to talk to her about me dealing with my Celiacs but she'd only be hurt and not understand. Now that she does have it I always...
  3. If I remember I will. When is it, again?
  4. You should bring that up to Markee and at the next meeting people will have to step up and volunteer and it could be good. I don't ever eat out much in Atlanta but I'd like to have places to eat out.
  5. Most of the places in NY do gluten and gluten-free cooking. I enjoy going there so much because of the gluten-free menus. The only things we have here are the ones in the other threads. I have my Ritters menu somewhere but other than there and PF Changs no where else in Atlanta has a gluten-free menu. If you picked a favourite spot and worked with them...
  6. It does suck that people, even family, are like this. They just don't understand. The only thing your son can do is deal with it and not get embarassed. It is hard at first but then it gets easier. Maybe he should talk to his Uncle about being this and how he feels foolish and sad that his own Uncle doesn't care about his health. That way he won't say...
  7. I bet she only said that because she knew it was different. When I give people brownies or cookies I make they usually can't tell the difference and even ask for more. Once I had a batch of cookies I messed up a bit and thought were gross but my non-Celiac friend thought they were great and ate most of them. I think when kids aren't open minded it sucks...

  9. You need to talk to each school specifically. If there is a meal plan they need to provide gluten-free food or allow him the ability to make his own food. It is really just school to school on policies. At my University we do not ave meal plans nor dorms but apartments so the food thing is not an issue.
  10. Depending on the type of school you go to (private or public) they may have to offer you gluten-free food.
  11. Moving a topic does not change the links within it.
  12. Hello Bonnie! My name is Kristina and I am 20. The message board is a bit hard at first but once you play around it gets easier!
  13. I like Utz too much for my own good!
  14. Some people have allergic reactions to gluten as well as Celiac ones.
  15. I still need to get it on mine.
  16. Please stick to the question at hand and leave the controversial parts for PMs or e-mails, thank you. There is no harm i getting your son tested. If he has ADD it is best to know at such a young age because then he can start a learning program fit for him. If he doesn't have ADD then great! I know in my family that a lot of trouble and frustration could...
  17. Highlight the things you want to print. Then when you hit print mark "selection."
  18. I know she is. It is such hard work running that group (and the other). She has lots on her plate!
  19. I only eat out when we have support group meetings at places or am at restaurants that are gluten-free like in NYC.
  20. I haven't gone to the last two meetings. Which group is meeting at the Church?
  21. That is wonderful news about you havig a child!
  22. I personally got rid of everything with gluten in it. I react now to things on my skin and others do, too. Some say that's a wheat allergy but I think it's just my body reacting to something it has been without for years. Shampoo and cosmetics can all wind up getting into your mouth. You can take your time getting rid of them or continue to use them....
