  1. Let's see , what is it they say when they don't know the answer? Oh yeah, excellent question BC! Open Original Shared LinkOpen Original Shared Link Lemon Ginger Herb Plus - Case of 6 boxes (108 tea bags total) Bursting with flavor, this caffeine-free herb tea provides a momentary break from the busy day. Best of all, it effectively delivers...
  2. I was at a Christmas dinner at teh pastor's house and they're father-in-law who is gluten-free was there. They had a plate of Christmas cookies out on the table as we were standing there taking. So he crunches one down. Then he told me about being sick for a few days eairlier in the week form eating too much gluten. It was Christmas and you aren't supposed...
  3. I think the soy oil is to carry the flavorings. You know, like infuse the fruit in the oil or something. Because they have soy in so many flavored teas. So I figure it has something do with carrying the flavorings. You can try ginger powder for tea also. When I am out I get plain teas without any added flavorings. What surprised me was a tea I saw...
  4. If you use one of those ancient things called a tea kettle, it is easy to make tea. Just throw water in it and any thing flavorful. Cinnamon, chocolate powder, nutmeg, anything you want to try. Lemon granules etc. There are lots of possibilities. No tea bag required! Probably cheaper than buying tea too.
  5. Yep, lots of flavoerd teas have soy in them.
  6. Hi, Some people post an introduction in the Celiac Meeting Room. But there is no requirement to do that. So here's a cheerful greeting for you anyway! Hi ! http://www.celiac.co...c-meeting-room/
  7. HI Magister Mundi, Welcome to the forum! Going gluten-free seems to have an adjustment period for our guts, as well as our taste buds. Reversing damage to our gut and bodies can take some time, months or more even. It depends a lot on how sick a person was to start with and how much damage they have. But being back on the gluten-free diet means...
  8. Hi Vegetable murderer, (sorry bad joke ) "Silent celiac" is when a person has celiac but has no obvious GI symptoms. It doesn't mean that damage is not happening to the body, either the gut or some other body area. What does mean something is you developed symptoms when you stopped eating gluten. Going gluten-free shoudn't cause any reaction in...
  9. People who smoke certaintly have an odor. Some people smell like cinnamon too. Don't ask me why. Rose water is medicinal right? So maybe we smell like rose water. Otherwise I can't imagine why we would have a particular odor, so there, says FP.
  10. Hi Laura, So if I got this right, your diverticulitits cleared up after going gluten-free? That would be a pretty strong indicator that the gluten-free diet was helping your gut. How about you iron and Vitamin D? Have they improved yet? And welcome back!
  11. There was a story on here recently about Abbot lab thyroid hormones being mis-labeled. They were labeled 150 mcg but were only half that potency. I don't know how long that was going on or if it is totally resolved now. I think it was levothyroxine that was mislabeled.
  12. Hi Micheal, I can't say I have a whole lot of knowledge in the area of celiac and men's hormones. I do believe it can be related though. There have been quite a few posts by females concerning problems with pregnancies and conception etc. So it seems reasonable to assume hormonal issues and celiac and men might have a connection. Ah heck, why not...
  13. Hi LC, You have listed quite a few serious health issues. Not just for yourself but also for your children. You also listed one known serious health condition, celiac disease. The one known health condition has one known treatment, the gluten-free diet. The drug you used to get-by with DH (while still eating gluten) also has serious side affects. ...
  14. I take Rodiola Rosea sometimes. It is a natural herb that helps um, er, things. It makes me feel more like doing things. I took it every day for a while but ended up not being able to sleep well. I recently started taking it again but not every day. Low thyroid can also make people feel tired and depressed. Being sick most of the time can also occasionally...
  15. A lot of people are trying the gluten-free diet these days. They don't all have celiac and they don't all understand it the way celiacs do or have the same medical reactions and concerns celiacs do. Maybe they have diabetes or maybe they have Crohn's disease and think it will help them. Maybe they have NCGI. Maybe they don't know why they are feeling...
  16. Hi Foam, I don't remember if you checked into dermatitis herpetiformis yet? It sounds like your new doctor is going to do some investigating and testing. If nothing turns up positive, at least some things will be eliminated. So that's good. I was kind of surprised you ate out at a restaraunt. When I do go out someplace if I am trying to eat a safer...
  17. Hi, Welcome to the forum! Please decide if you are interested in getting diagnosed. If you are you need to keep eating gluten until the blood draw is done for the antibodie testing. After you stop eating gluten the antibodies in the bloodstream drop and the testing is no good. To get tested later means going back on gluten and that can be difficult...
  18. Hi Rebecca, There is a rash associated with celiac disease called dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). There is section of the forum for DH with more info. So, yes, some people do get a rash from gluten.
  19. Hi, I suggest you keep on the regular gluteney diet for now. Your test results are not completed, perhaps they didn't do them all or they just didn't give you all the information. IF you do need to go gluten-free, don't be too concerned about it. The biggest challenge is usually just getting started and learning how to eat right. People learn new things...
  20. Hi Lumdogs, Welcome to the forum! I don't recall that particular symptom myself but that doesn't mean it isn't related. There is a very wide range of physical symptoms that people get from eating gluten and stopping it too. Sometimes people have withdrawal symptoms, while others don't even notice a change. Some celiacs have villi damage but...
  21. I've got a better question for you. How many of you were on a daily anti-histamine and no longer are? Answer: Me! Me! Me! Me!!!! I used to take anti-histmaines every day and a couple times day for that matter, morning and evening. I had hay-fever symptoms that made it hard to go outside at some times of year. Now I don't take anti-histamines...
  22. Hi Ray, I agree with the posters before also. We all can develop intolerances ourselves, or not, but they aren't all the same for everyone. Coffee is a stimulant, but I don't think it causes D for most people. I doubt there would be very many Starbucks around if it did that. that's a pretty unpopular side affect for a product. So, IMHO, if coffee is...
  23. Hi Nanette, Sometimes the damage to the gut can lead to an overgrowth of bacteria, which produce gas and discomfort. When the gut is already damaged, blowing it up like a balloon can hurt. So why avoid sugar? Because sugar and starches are bacteria fuel and lead to lots of bacterial growth and gut inflation. Starches are just as bad as sugar usually...
  24. The nightshades have alkaloid type chemicals in them. Alkaloids are also used in some medicines. Tobacco is a nightshade. Potatoes, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes are the food nightshades.
  25. I got sick from smelling a woman's perfume once. She must have used a whole bottle of the stuff. OK, so if it is an allergy, you can get tested by an allergist. Pretty sure I saw that neck swelling thing on Vampire Diaries once...
