  1. Cool beans Mike. Since you are new to message boards, you might like to try clicking the View New Content link on the top right of the main forum screen. That will give you a list of all the new thread postings so you can review what has been going on lately. I use Mozilla Firefox and so I can right click each thread and open it in a new browser tab....
  2. Hi Fourleaf, Some people with celiac have no symptoms and they call that silent celiac. Others have very severe symptoms, and some have nuerological symptoms or skin rashes, or joint pain or dry eyes, or itchy skin or nail ridges or sneezey cats. There are 300 possible symptoms of celiac disease, including the silent no symptoms people. So trying...
  3. Hi KMMO, You mentioned your symptoms not being very severe and thinking that meant you might not really have celiac disease? There are are people who have no symptoms but still have celiac disease. They call it "silent celiac" when that happens. Having silent celiac doesn't mean that damage to the body isn't happening though. Most likely those people...
  4. Hi Rusty, It should also be less expensive to get the endoscopy and colonoscopy done at the same time. Doing both at once saves another trip to the hospital. For the endoscopy they need to take multiple biopsy samples, 5 to 8 is good. Celiac is treated with the gluten-free diet. There are treatments for Crohn's and some people with Crohn's follow the...
  5. Welcome to the forum 4leaf! It is worth trying gluten-free for a while even with negative tests. You can read the link on non-celiac wheat sensitivity below to see why. It talks about research published this year (2012) showing there are other immune system reactions to gluten besides celiac disease. And they can have similar symptoms. Since this is...
  6. Hi GlutenBoy, It's nice to see you back! Sounds like you have a busy life going on there. Are you able to eat dairy now? Some people cant' eat it at first but later on can eat it ok, after their guts have healed some. You can look for jobs at Monster.com and USAjobs.gov also. I put in some tips below that are really for new people on the gluten...
  7. Ravenwood is right, you can have celiac disease without passing a test for it. False negatives do happen, while false positives are rare. It is also possible to have a reaction to wheat that is not celiac disease but can cause similar symptoms. The article linked below talks about this newly identified condition. http://Non-celiac wh...ists/Page1.html...
  8. Hi Mike, Welcome to the forum. Since you are new to forums be sure to watch out for those weird little yellow guys that pop up sometimes. They are always hanging around and smiling at people. Especially newbies! One week is a start on gluten-free eating. But healing can take a while, months or years in some cases. The autoimmune process...
  9. Hi Wenmin, There are some KinickKinick products that are potato free. I think it's the hamburger buns but do verify with them.
  10. Hi LJ, I am fine, that incident was couple years ago. Learned me not to eat carrots anymore tho. I used to buy bags of them and eat them as snacks. No more. Bugs-bunny can keep 'em. A toast sounds good. I went to Christmas dinner last night and had a couple hard ciders. So for New Year's I'll probably try something else besides water. ...

  13. Hi Sean, If you are skinny and losing weight it would be a good idea to see your doctor again. Insomnia and anxiety are symptoms of hyper-thyroid, and other things, including celiac. But it wouldn't hurt to have your thyroid levels checked. Some other symptoms are elevated heart rate and irritability. If you aren't hungry it would make sense to get...
  14. Merry Christmas everyone! Food court Handel's Messiah music video on Youtube
  15. Wheat glue used to be commonly used for many things, like wallpaper paste, Elmer's glue etc.. But most glue is acrylic these days. Checking with maker of the coffee cups is the thing to do. They should know the answer.
  16. Thanks BC, yes, one my few attempts at printmaking. Glad u liked it!
  17. New Year's cards sound great Lisa!. Anything besides a lump of coal sounds good at this point! Crayon...
  18. If you have DH they can take a biopsy sample of the clear skin right next to a lesion to test it for antibodies. Confirmed DH is confirmed celiac, as only celiacs get DH. Sometimes people with DH have fewer intestinal symptoms, sometimes not. You are right, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and celiac are associated, several members have both. For that matter...
  19. Hmm, it would be interesting to know what their thinking is. Sometimes a follow up test every 6 months for antibodies is suggested. To make sure antibodies are going down from the initial diagnosis levels. If you are feeling better I suppose that is a good way to satisfy curiosity. There's quite a bit of info on follow-up testing in this article by Peter...
  20. Yes, that is strange to get one part back. You should return it immediately. They may have accidentally given you someone else's part!
  21. Thanks for the update on Colleen (GFLover) IH. Maybe she will feel better in a few days. Thanks for the "thing" or whatever it is you are sending Crayon!
  22. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
  23. Yep, get tested for celiac disease first, then try the gluten-free diet. The initial testing is just a blood draw to check for antibodies to gliaden, the protein in wheat that causes the auto-immune reaction in celiac disease. There are IgA and IgG antibodies tests, and ttg and Deamidated gliaden also, plus total IgA. Test results can take a couple weeks...
  24. Ah, thanks Patti and Dave, I am glad you liked them! I'm glad the post office us quicker than I am too!
