  1. Maybe they were there to drop off some bugs..
  2. Hi James, One thing you can do for gas is avoid sugars and starchy foods. Those make lots of food for bacteria which then make gas. Peppermint tea or Altoids peppermints are good for getting gas out of the stomach,.. But don't get in the habit of taking them every day, think of them as a medicine. Solgar and Country Life or Nature Made brands are...
  3. (((((Hugs))))) Colleen. I'll say a prayer for your family too. The passing of the children and staff at the school is very sad.
  4. You can call the restraunt ahead of time if possible and ask about gluten-free options. Sometimes it is safe to eat just vegetable side dishes. Sometimes restraunts will let you bring your own food if you are eating with a group. You could get a drink or something so they have some income from the seat. Bringing some fruit is easy, like bananas, or oranges...
  5. HI GFMO, It could be a week or so before the immune system winds down and stops attacking your gut. Maybe some Pepto Bismol would help with the pain? Can you do aspirin? Drinking lots of water may help too. Some people find the nettle tea helps.
  6. Well cooked crock pot sweet potatoes, onion, and black beans. Stirred in Enjoy life choc chips too and a little Splenda. and salt. Actual;y wasn't too bad.
  7. Prayers and hugs sent. But a few more hugs are not bad right? (((((((hugs))))))). My sister had a I think they called it gamma knife or some such thing. And a co-worker at my old job had some kind of brain surgery. People do recover from such things.
  8. Sending some prayers your way Kristen. ((((Hugs))) too. May the Lord have mercy upon you, in Jesus name, Amen.

  10. I don't have severe food problems anymore, but the foods I used to consider safe are: Sweet potatoes chicken avocado oranges apples
  11. Hi Wendy, You raised a good question about possible undetected damage at lower levels of gluten. I sort of remember one study was done where they tested people for I think it was 20 ppm, but a few people had to drop out due to symptoms at that level. Most were fine though. So there is a difference in what people can tolerate. A repeat endoscopy...
  12. Ahh good, time to get me a gluten-free beer then lil-sis! Where's my ink-well... Thanks NCDave, I got a card from you the other day, very nice! And gluten-free Lover too, thanks so much tis a beyootiful card indeed! Ok, things are rolling along now. I have some addressing to do and mailing but will get my cards out ASAP. Merry Cheistmas...
  13. Hi Maxc, You could try living in Aus or NZ for a year and then having an endoscopy to see if there is damage to your intestine. Or you could do some searching online to see if there are celiacs in those countries who react to the wheat there. That's a lot quicker and cheaper and a better test since it involves a lot more people. My quick search turned...
  14. Shroomie has excellent advice above. She is right, check weverything, even things you think don't matter. It seems like people get more sensitive to gluten after they go gluten-free. That may not be what actually happens, it could just be their symptoms are more noticeable. But it is really good to keep away from even small amounts of gluten. The...
  15. This card exchange is a smell-oiled machine Crayon! Updated list sent out, Yahoo changed their mail client on me and they picked the wrong time to do that. Other conundrums of utmost importance also impinged on the submission of the official, unalterable and most fluid list. Lisa, please check again, you are on the message for surely and purely. ...
  16. Easy-peasy, little round thing they slip on your noggin. You may have to kneel down tho. Did ptaumn abdicate or sumfin? Ifn it was a dental crown, they just take a mold and make it in the lab with all the other cyborg parts. Glue it on and shine a bright light in your mouth to set the glue and fry your tonsils. The glue tastes really good too! ...
  17. There is a high amount cf celiac in your family so the odds of you having it also are fairly good. The thing to do is get tested and see what it shows. If the tests are negative then go ahead and try the gluten-free diet for 2 or 3 months and see if it helps.; Some people do have NCGI which has the same symptoms as celiac but no tests to show it. Nueropathy...
  18. Hi Camanda, Digestive symptoms can be pretty erratic with celiac disease. You may have celiac or some other condition. If you are going to get tested please keep eating gluten as you normally would until the testing is completed. After the testing you can try the gluten-free diet and see if your symptoms improve.
  19. My understanding is the gut makes lots of mucus normally to help with the movement of chyme (food). When you are glutened it makes some sense that more mucus would be produced a a reaction to the damage. Or maybe the gut makes moo-cuss? I ate carrots once and got a nice thin layer of floating transparent tissue and moss-cuss in the returns. I think...
  20. I had dark circles under my eyes and pale complexion, somewhat mottled looking skin, pre-gluten-free
  21. Hi Wheresthebeef, They should be testing you for vitamin and mineral deficiencies, like A, D, K, B, copper, zinc, etc. Those test results will let you know if you need to supplement any of them. In untreated celiac the ability to absorb nutrients is degraded from damage to the gut, resulting in malabsorption. So you can take vitamins but may not really...
  22. 87 Hi James, It is not super unusual for people to have continuing symptoms for quite a while. The trick to stopping them is to make sure you are 100% gluten-free. That means everything including vitamin pills, medicines, pet food, kisses from girlfriends etc. If that doesn't help then you may need to look at other food intolerances. The immune response...

  24. You are welcome! Hopefully it will straighten out in time. Sounds good to me! :)
