  1. Yep, pro-biotics, no sugar, no starch, no dairy, no alcohol, and take some peppermint tea if the gas gets too bad.
  2. @Skylark, I think it will be fine for a lot of people, just not celiacs. I totally agree the Domino's pizza should not be labeled gluten-free, if it is not gluten-free when served to the table. And it's obvious from what Domino's said themselves, it is not gluten-free when it comes out of their kitchens. I would prefer they call i t low gluten or gluten...
  3. Did you see the part about photo therapy in the link to bilirubin testing in the other thread? It said the treatment for babies is a light blanket and it helps change the bilirubin in to a more easily eliminated form. I thought that was very interesting. So maybe if you get out and enjoy the holiday weekend and get some nice sun time you will reduce your...
  4. Nightshades cause me joint pain. And some other people too. Potato, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant are the food nightshades that cause problems. Might be worth a try to eliminate them. Nightshades contain high levels of alkaloids, which may be the cause.
  5. I've been thinking of getting a waffle lron and making waffles to use as bread. My gluten-free pancakes always came out much better than the gluten-free bread. And it seems like waffles would be quicker to make.
  6. @Dani, Sounds good Dani, everyone gets a little worked up sometimes. Even my cat has her bad days. Hmm, well, my aunt used a cast iron frying pan on her husbands head. He was never the same and died young. But he was a drunk and abusive so she had to defend herself. That was quite a few decades ago. She was great though and raised the...
  7. Safeway does have gluten-free choices. But you may have to ask the store manager for a pointer. The stores seem to have different ideas of where to put gluten-free items depending on the manager in charge. If you are going to be near a certain Safeway I'd suggest calling the store and ask them about their gluten-free sections. Some of the Giants have...
  8. One of the members here, Ravenwood glass, was tested several times of a period of years and found to not have celiac disease. Except she did have it and got much better after going gluten-free. The positive tests are ok, the negative tests don't mean a whole lot. Seems like a screwy situation but it is what it is. Some people with Crohn's follow the...
  9. Hah, I suppose it does go with my skin tone at that1 Thanks for the coolibar link, I'll send that to them.
  10. You might want to try Daiya cheese shreds. Pretty good stuff. Almond milk is good sub or hemp milk for regular milk. Open Original Shared Link
  11. You do have an immune system problem, celiac is an autoimmune disease. I was the opposite. I rarely got sick while everyone around me got flu, colds, etc. I also had pretty severe hayfever. I think that was because my immune system was in overdrive, ready to pounce on anything that came around full force, all the time. Due to being on-guard against gluten...
  12. I don't think there are many food intolerance tests around that are reliable. Maybe lactose intolerance hydrogen breath testing and fructose intolerance testing,. Enterolab does some stool testing, but I don't know what heir reliability is on them. An elimination diet is a pretty good way to go though and doesn't cost any money. You are still pretty...
  13. Sorry Dani, us men tend to learn slowly, if at all. Especially when it comes to the obvious and simple things. Make him carry his own dang toothbrush next time. They make them with little plastic carrying cases for travel. Then shove it in his face with a big bottle of listerine and point him towards the washroom right after dinner. Men do better with...
  14. Hi Josie, The endoscopy is a "gold standard" when it is positive, but when it is negative it doesn't mean a hill of beans. It's like the other celiac tests, the positives are darn near always right, the negatives, um, not so much. Celiac is an autoimmune disease. There is a slightly higher chance of people with celiac getting other autoimmune...
  15. I used to wake up sweaty every night. Went to bed ok but would get hot and start sweating during sleep. Doesn't happen anymore unless I am reacting to something in my diet. There are some threads on night sweats. And also low grade fever.

    ARCHIVED Ulcers?

I don't know about ulcers, I never had an endoscopy. But I had bleeding and that stopped.
  17. Oh crap. typo city.! Well, the purple xxxx went over pretty well anyway. Maybe I should wear it more often!
  18. Artomatic is back, this time in Crystal City, VA. If you are near the Washington, DC area and like art, this is the one show not to miss 1300 artists are showing, multitudes of live bands performing on 5 stages simultaneously, live plays dance, film, and free workshops for adults and kids too. Plus free parking after 4 and weekends, and entry is free...
  19. Thanks for the link Marilyn. I'll send that to to the guys wife. They are going through the diagnosis process and testing now. I found my purple shirt and printed out some celiac and lupus labels to stick on it. I am going to wear it to Artomatic tonight Should be interesting.
  20. You can ask you doc to run the celiac antibody panel on your blood. They just take a bit of blood and send it to a lab. You need to keep eating gluten until the testing is completed though. If you stop eating gluten before testing it will screw it up.
  21. I am not a good one about going to the doctor and getting my numbers checked. I do have a couple thyroid nodules and a cyst. Thyroid nodules are not unusual and really are more of the norm than the exception. And most of the time they are benign. I did get an FNA (fine needle aspiration) on one nodule. No problem, didn't really hurt. The doc told me...
  22. I had reactions to wines also. It seemed to me that the chardonays were the worst, but the red wines also bothered me. In making chardonays they add lots of interesting flavors, using interesting ingredients. I forget what they call it, but sometimes they add a few staves from a whiskey barrel to the chardonay to give it some flavor. Anyhow, it turned...
  23. Ok, so stop eating fruit and yogurt! Fruit has sugars in it and yogurt is made from dairy. Stop all sugar and dairy and see if you feel better. Try some pro-biotics also. If you are having problems with gas in your stomach you can try peppermint tea or Altoids peppermints lozenges. Also stretching or bends may help. I know it can be very painful...
  24. IMHO start /I have had that kind of thing happen also. I think it is spasms in the gut or innards if you want to get technical. Your intestines are actually lined with strong muscles. If they get irritated they may let you know that by going into spasms. Basically twitchy irregular contractions. /I had this for several weeks when I first went gluten...
  25. @Hopeonthemove, I think the longer you are off gluten the easier it becomes. There are numerous posts on the forum about gluten withdrawal symptoms and the opiate like affects of gluten peptides on the brain. Some people have headaches and other withdrawal symptoms form stopping gluten. But if you stay off it the cravings should diminish in time. Your...
