  1. I do remember seeing some information during one of my many internet searches at the beginning of my quest that indicated wheat should be eliminated as part of treatment of endometriosis. Does make you wonder if the diet will be promoted more as infertility treatment. Thanks for posting
  2. I've only had luck at Whole Foods, too. They also have a coconut milk ice cream that is unbelievable (I can't do soy), even my gluten/dairy/soy eating husband devours it. Hope you find it!
  3. Welcome to the forum, by the way! Getting started with the diet can be tricky, so feel free to ask away!!
  4. I believe that, too. I think that is why the average time it takes to be diagnosed is around 11 years, simply because our bodies are telling us something is wrong loooong before it can actually be detected through the testing available. I believe this was my case, only 2 years of damage, combined with a low IgA, pretty much made it impossible to detect through...
  5. Just a thought, but maybe it's something other than gluten. Soy makes me really nauseous, and dairy gives me headaches. It sounds like you gave the gluten-free part due dilligence. Welcome to the forum
  6. Hi If you were only gluten free for 4 days, that should not affect your endoscopy. It can take months, even up to a year or two to heal once gluten is removed from the diet. A word of warning, though, in case you don't know: There are 22 ft of small intestine, so damage from celiac can be patchy, and still possibly be missed. Make sure your doctor...
  7. Pardon my poor choice of wording, it was getting late. The article is from the BBC with direct quotations from the WHO. I didn't mean to imply that it was directly from the WHO. Sorry for any confusion!
  8. Thanks for stopping by!

  9. I found this article to be very interesting; with info coming from WHO via BBC. Open Original Shared Link
  10. OMG! That pizza looks so good, it's making me hungry. I want to go to there
  11. There's a lot of controversy about those. The website says that they are not intended to be used by people with celiac. If for some other reason you are gluten sensitive or intolerant, as can be caused by some bacterial infections, it may be possible to use them. I've heard of some folks using them as "insurance" if they go out to eat or eat at someone...
  12. Yeah, I'd call them and tell them. They can't fix what they don't know is wrong. BUT, since they have taken the time and made the effort to make gluten-free offerings, please be sure to commend them for their efforts. You don't want this to backfire and they decide it's not worth the hassle if people are just going to fuss.
  13. The mornings still aren't my best. (Not because I'm pregnant either ) Generally, if I have trouble with food, it's in the morning. I am usually hungry when I wake up, but I can't eat a lot or I feel sick. So, I try something really light, like a piece of fruit or something along those lines. Or I eat breakfast really slow, a few bites here and there...
  14. The last time he ate it (unknowingly) he was home sick from work. He gets very nauseous and I believe it gives him the big D. He won't go near it. It doesn't matter if it's breaded, seasoned, plain.. all of it makes him sick. It is very weird that it bothers him, because he can literally eat almost anything.
  15. My husband who can eat anything cannot eat tyson's chicken. It is one of the few foods that make him sick. It's possible it's not a gluten reaction, but rather a reaction to whatever it is that they put in there. Hope you feel better soon!!
  16. Welcome to the forum!!! Hope we can help!!
  17. Me too. Although I do think the media has blown this slightly out of proportion...
  18. My GI symptoms hit the next day; it's usually around 12 hours later. I get a really bad headache within an hour or so, which lasts for hours. Then the rest hits, and usually lingers for around 8-10 days. Every day is a little better, but it takes a good week to week and a half to feel better. Hope it passes quicker for you!!
  19. Let me make sure I have this: You've been gluten-free for 4 months, the first 2 of those you took a D supplement? (Just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly) If it were me, I would have it rechecked. It's possible you were not absorbing the D even in mega doses if you had just been diagnosed/started the diet. D is absorbed in the small intestine...
  20. I feel your pain. My face broke out somewhere around the age of 9/10... I'm 27 now, and it FINALLY is clearing up. I went to a dermatologist once, and they gave me something that I was allergic to and caused me to break out into hives. When I called them, they told me to keep using it... they were the antithesis of helpful needless to say. Recently, I...
  21. It took me a good six months before I could get through a day without a nap. A few more months before I wasn't worn out at the end of the day. If you need to sleep, and you can, do it. Your body is healing itself, which is a huge undertaking. It needs rest. I could push myself through when I needed to, but I always eventually hit the wall. I just stopped...
  22. Your PCP can test you. Ask for the complete celiac panel. I don't have the names of the tests saved, but others do and I'm sure they'll post them for you.
  23. I've tried the margherita pizza. It's not bad, worth trying once. I thought there wasn't a lot of sauce on it, and it had a different texture to it, maybe similar to Uno's? Their restaurant is here in Raleigh, and I really want to go try it from there. Although I hear it is the same exact pizza...
