  1. We all do react differently. All we can do is share our experiences and hope they help out someone else. (My joint pain is aggravated by members of the nightshade family )
  2. You have been diagnosed relatively early. Many posters on here are not diagnosed until their 50's or 60's I do not see or hear cancer knocking at your door - that is for those who ignore the diagnosis and continue on their errant way. Please do not be scared of cancer. Now that you are diagnosed any additional risk (and it is not that high in the first...
  3. Perhaps the step forward you should take is to prepare all your own food from fresh, with no "gluten free" products, take it easy on the spices and hot stuff, and give your stomach a chance to calm down and start healing. Give it stuff that is easy to digest, take some probiotics and digestive enzymes to give it a helping hand. You will have less chance...
  4. You might find this PubMed abstract interesting: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20042872
  5. Grey stool can often be a sign that you are not making enough bile and/or digestive enzymes, and therefore fat is not being properly digested. You should get this checked out with your doctor.
  6. I share your frustration that they ran only this one test They did not even run the total serum IgA which would tell us if you make normal quantities of IgA and that therefore IgA testing can be relied upon. Doctors are in love with the tTG but it can be negative in people who will test positive on other celiac blood tests like the DGP (a newer test,...
  7. I react to corn pretty much the same way I react to gluten. I can handle some corn starch, but not anything that has any part of the kernel covering in it.
  8. There is currently no test that they can give you which will prove or disprove that you are non-celiac gluten sensitive. If you are sensitive to gluten and negative to celiac testing, that is your diagnosis - I'm afraid for now you will probably just have to live with it. They haven't developed any testing for NCGS yet and I am extremely doubtful that it...
  9. Is she listless? Appear to have a fever? Off her food? If none of the foregoing you can maybe wait and see if she shakes it. Poor baby And poor mama
  10. Sometimes just eating a clean, whole foods diet is not enough to promote healing as fast as we would like. Sometimes we have to be more pro-active and give nature a helping hand. The three primary means of doing this that are mentioned on here are firstly, taking probiotics to repopulate the gut with healthy flora; secondly, taking digestive enzymes to...
  11. Five years..... and I never promised you it wasn't a PITA I merely said that with time, money, and ingenuity, it can be done
  12. And I developed a new love of American and British food after I found I could no longer eat Mexican, Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, most Mediterranean (or probably even Inuit) food Although polar bear and seal meat sounds pretty good, with a side of whale .. oh, wait, that's politcally incorrect.
  13. I believe you, Darissa, I believe you!!
  14. Now psillies, this is something really psilly, but I suppose it was just a mattter of time.... Great for all Texans and Oklahomans and Tennesseeans digging out from your second blizzard in a row: http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/fashion/8358098/Dark-times-at-Milan-Fashion-Week Yes, you've got it, admit it, you want it, ...
  15. Yes, it could be non-celiac gluten intolerance, which is about six times more prevalent than actual celiac disease (supposedly it is not an autoimmune response - and I say supposedly, because they don't know much about it yet). Or it could be a false negative, or you may not yet be making sufficient antibodies to measure yet. Or it is most likely that after...
  16. It has been scientifically proven that after a period of not eating gluten, the gluten-intolerant body mounts a stronger response to gluten when it is reintroduced. This is why it is recommended that people get tested before they stop eating gluten, because you need to be still eating gluten to be tested, and it is usually too painful for people to go back...
  17. The answers are maybe, maybe, and yes It sounds like you do have a problem with gluten and it may be celiac or it may be non-celiac gluten intolerance. Hopefully the testing will give you a clear answer. Accutane, like other antibiotics, kills off the good flora in the gut along with killing off the bad guys in your skin, and has been shown to cause...
  18. Here is what Dr. Scott Lewey has to say: Endoscopy in celiac: What are the typical findings? The characteristic appearance of the surface of the small intestine in celiac disease include superficial ulcerations that are commonly linear, flattening of the folds, notching or scalloping of the folds and a mosaic like pattern. However, the surface may...
  19. You can read up a bit here about the meanings of test results: MEANINGS OF TESTS Open Original Shared Link
  20. Low Vit. D is common in both RA and celiac disease, and celiac and RA (or RA-type symptoms) often go together. I am not diagnosed celiac (never tested) but do have psoriatic arthritis which first started with very stiff hands in the mornings, pain in the elbows, fingers, neck and shoulders, toes, and in the balls of my feet (in that deep joint!). I always...
  21. You don't give the ranges on your results but I'm assuming that everything over 30 on your tTG IgG was a positive, and I'm assuming that your IgA total serum fell within the normal range. Doctors prefer to have the IgA result be positive if you make normal quantities of IgA, but you can certainly be celiac with a high IgG too. It sounds like your doctor...
  22. Most definitely. Or it could be gluten intolerance. The symptoms are pretty much the same, but celiac is an autoimmune reaction and at this time they don't believe that NCGI is. For anyone who feels better not eating wheat and feels worse when eating it, it is most likely celiac or NCGI that is causing it.
  23. Hello, and welcome to the board. It does sound like gluten could be a problem for you. Most doctors don't know that gluten can make you overweight and automatically dismiss the idea of celiac in someone who isn't skinny. It actually can make you skinny or overweight. Sorry you found one of these doctors. It's no wonder we don't get diagnosed So...
