  1. About a 20% chance of a false negative ; chance of a true negative unknown. Chances she is celiac very high. Chances she is gluten intolerant - almost 100%.
  2. Yes, I have been through methotrexate, sulfasalazine with diclofenac, Plaquenil, before I finally got to Humira. I am lucky to so far have no side effects from it, but I do have to stop taking it if I get an infection which can then allow the symptoms to come back in.
  3. I am glad your neuro is open to the idea of celiac. You may find it is the source of your seizures, too.
  4. Wonder if they increase their production at thanksgiving???
  5. When I was lactose intolerant I was still able to eat yogurt, and cheese, even sour cream. I just could not get anywhere near milk, cream, ice cream or frozen yogurt (not cultured). The other dairy products are made with cultures or enzymes that digest most of the lactose and some lucky people like me can tolerate the small amount of lactose that is left...
  6. Your tests are all squarely in the negative range, and your total IgA is normal. There are other tests for celiac, and the most specific, the DGP, has not been done. This is the newest test and will often pick it up when the others don't. You only need be positive on one of the tests. I would ask for this test to be run and if it, too, is negative, then...
  7. Boy, do you live in Tucson, prickly?? The only time I was ever there it was 103 in May!
  8. Yes, if you are going to go for an endoscopy I echo Sylvia, DO NOT stop eating gluten yet. In the absence of gluten the body starts to heal and your test could well come up negative by then. Use this time to learn what you will have to do once you have had the endoscopy. Start cleaning out your pantry, etc., but keep eating gluten.
  9. Well, in retrospect, the celiac but I didn't know it then. The doctors kept telling me I had IBS Actually, I have never been tested, I had to self-diagnose. Strangely enough, the builder who was building our house had ankylosing spondylitis, and he was on a gluten free diet which at the time I thought was pretty weird for arthritis. But it seemed to...
  10. Hello, and Welcome. Yes, the DGP is a new test and is very specific for celiac. The numbers in your testing score do not necessarily reflect the degree of intestinal damage. Some people with quite low numbers have severe damage, and vice versa. Yes, do keep eating gluten until your biopsy even though it will be painful. And do NOT listen to your family...
  11. Did they ever determine an infectious trigger for your 'reactive arthritis'? I have a sneaking suspicion that this could be a stab in the dark diagnosis, rather like IBS when they can't determine any other cause for your symptoms. If there was indeed a triggering infection, okay, could be. My rheumatoid diagnoses progressed from polymyalgia rheumatica...
  12. Do you have any gastric distress or bloating when you awake like that?
  13. Hello Oof, and welcome to the Board. If you have been reading around the board you will have discovered that there is quite a margin for error on both blood testing and biopsy for celiac disease. You may well fall into that error range. Some test positive for one and not the other, some negative on both, some positive on both. So doctors believe in...
  14. I always keep TJ's frozen mango slices in the freezer for smoothies (instead of adding ice cubes) and often use almond milk for additional flavor.
  15. Hello and welcome to the Board. If you have not been off gluten very long (say less than ten days - and it looks like about four) it is still possible to be tested and you have a reasonable chance of the test being valid. If it has been two weeks or more since eating gluten you will have to go back on it if you want a diagnosis (and it sounds like your...
  16. Well, I've heard of a cast, company, troupe or ensemble of actors (someone even suggested a murder of actors), but I think your collective term is probably more apt than them all - a catastrophe of actors - I love it!!! Did you mention your chicken herding abilities too??
  17. It is perfectly possible to have both.
  18. Another typo and you could have had a glass of pinto gringo
  19. I do not consider a "processed in the same facility as" gluten warning to be an automatic no for me. I consider the company and the product and will most often buy it. I give a lot more consideration to something "processed on the same lines as" gluten, but again I am forewarned and would not blame the company for putting this statement on the package ...
  20. No, my take on it is more like a crispbread, like is made by Orgran perhaps? And I haven't seen anything similar here in the U.S.
  21. So you think you could strut your stuph down the catwalk? Hope you could do a better job than this: Open Original Shared Link
  22. Thank goodness I could never stomach any of the "mites" as a kid - a cheese and marmite sandwich was an automatic trade
  23. It's not possible to please everyone - I order a pizza without tomato sauce
  24. Yes, I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION
  25. Digestive enzymes are indicated if you feel that your food is being poorly digested, loose poorly formed bowel movements, perhaps some gastric distress - bloating, gassiness. If none of this applies to you you probably don't need them.
