ARCHIVED Anyone Taking A Vitamin B12 Supplement?
mushroom replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I get the shot too after testing really low. Tried the sublingual and broke out in acne all over my face with a bright red rash to boot. Never had acne in my life before........ I needed the B12, but not in that form obviously. -

Colleen, the first time I saw tomato hornworms in the U.S. (I am non-native) I was terrified, panicked, and ripped all of the plants out of the ground and threw them over the fence into a vacant lot. -

mushroom replied to lablover's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello and welcome to the board. Yes, your symptoms do sound like they could emanate from gluten. And not everyone who has celiac tests positive on the tests. And many people have problems with gluten but have non-celiac gluten intolerance, not celiac. So the testing is not very definitive. Which leaves trying the gluten free diet as the only was... -

Lowest possible level of normal is not "normal". You need to really up your electrolytes, keep a 4:1 ratio of potassium to sodium, for the sodium/potassium pump to work properly, and make sure that your magnesium is getting into the cells, not just between them. Can't stress enough how important good levels of K and Mg are. There is a test called the Exatest... -

Yep, that's what I heard too. Give the anti's time to do some serious work, and then send in the good guys with the white hats and horses to the rescue. -
ARCHIVED Heart Complications?

I just last week had an ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation which I trace back directly to food reactions. It has been my major food problem. Used to cause fainting initially. I cannot state with certainty that it is gluten; I believe it to be lectins (a different kind of protein) that I react to. -
I've not heard mention of this before - can you tell me more????

I, too, hope you remain seizure-free now. From my limited experience with my brother, his seizures were petit mal-type, more a just kind of phasing out and not "being there" for a while mostly. No medication ever helped, he was never diagnosed celiac (although I KNOW he was), and they did become more frequent as time passed. Let's hope that whoever made...

When you just simply can't hold your tongue Riding the hospital elevator with a doctor, another doctor gets on and they start discussing first doc's leg and back problems. First doc: "I'm trying to stay away from doctors." Me (blurting): "I don't blame you.!! -

mushroom replied to sorairobara's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Okay, so what you are telling us is you have symptoms of celiac disease (not a wheat allergy), and that your doctor has run some tests which were not very conclusive. It is still important to get copies of those results and post them here so that some of the people on the board here who are expert in interpreting those results can have a look at them. Your... -

Thank you for telling us your story. It is a little confused so let's try to sort through it. You have lots of actual allergies, to dust, cats, other environmentals - Is your allergy to wheat in this same category, i.e., hives, itching, rash, sneezing, anaphylaxis? Or are you referring to celiac disease when you say a wheat allergy? Because celiac disease... -
You need to be referred to a sleep center for a polysomnography study. Yes, I can imagine how scary that would be if you CANNOT breathe in
-
No, you are not imagining it. I do that, breathe really shallow at night and slower and slower until I stop breathing altogether. It has nothing to do with weight. And I wake up with a start, really short of oxygen. They call them hypopneas. The doctors try to tell me I have an obstruction and try to put me on BiPAP, but that's worse because I can't...

My kitteh is so long that she poops in one end of the box, and scoops the litter from the other end, which doesn't come anywhere near the little parcel she just delivered. Has never got the concept of turning around -
You will have to add one more to the party. I just DIE for tiramisu. Luv it even more than the English love their trifle. And if you have ever had tiramisu lovingly made for you by someone living in the Florence Hills, it (I have to say it ) tastes even better. I'd walk through three (international) airports for a tiramisu. And I wear stretch pants

It's kinda hard turning earthquake rubble into a tourist attraction. Come and see our munted cathedral which is half 'deconstructed' already. Come and stay in our deconstructed hotels. Experience the earth move!!! At least you can still visit the Botanic Gardens and go to the Antarctic Center - pet a penguin. -

The inflammatory response is the body's method of healing. Even if you have a skin cut, there will be inflammation surrounding it as it heals. So most injury to the body's tissues starts out with inflammation as a response. You have, apparently, some inflammation. Whether that inflammation has progressed to the point where the gluten has done more than... -

Welcome, Josie. I like Venerdi's bread too, but it does have to be toasted. I really like their toasting Baps with cream cheese. We have the Totally Gluten Free Bakery in ChCh which bakes great bread for sandwiches - soft and yummy. They also bake lots of other gluten free goodies but don't know if they make it out of ChCh. It's kind of a family place... -

ARCHIVED Heart Palpitations/ Tachycardia
mushroom replied to peeptoad's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks! The one bad thing about afib is that it does only get worse, even if the cardiac risk is not high. It can be quite debilitating and you are so young. It has developed to the point now where ablation is being considered as a first line treatment rather than what to do when you have exhausted all other options (like all those meds . ) Do...
