  1. It is really best to eliminate all traces of a suspect food at first to let your body recover. Later on you can see if things like potato starch in bread cause a problem - it will be a lot clearer then. I have discovered (but only two years later) that I can now tolerate some potato starch in bread, but kick it all out to start with is my advice.
  2. Ditto what karen said - get back on the gluten for testing or it will be invalid. The reason you felt worse when you went off gluten could well be withdrawal - since in some people gluten does have an opioid effect on the body. But to stop eating gluten now would make any testing worthless.
  3. Stoopid fingers!
  4. That's what I always used to buy, but now all I can find is Best Foods with soy bean oil. That's why I say I have to go shopping. I didn't care for the Spectrum stuff either. If it's still out there, one of these days I'll find it
  5. My first county fair, I was greeted at the gate by this ginormous man, "Howdeee neighbor, How's about a ham sammmwitch?" Never was offered no beans. But back in the days when I made (and ate) beans it was always Boston baked beans from Fanny Farmer. They were so soooo good!
  6. 103, 10% humidity, 68 at night.
  7. I had put together basic fixin's for tuna salad (the tuna, onion, mashed hardboiled eggs, pickles) and then decided I wanted something hot. Still haven't been shopping for soybean free mayonnaise so found some ricotta, mixed that in with some grated havarti, spread on toasted Udi's, sprinkled with cheddar and broiled. Mmmm!
  8. Yeah, but he didn't get it, did he? Well, only half and I don't think it was the half he wanted. Pretty funny
  9. 1) Yes 2) Yes and no. Devoured bread and pizza, but had given up pasta and Mexican food (that turned out to be both wheat and corn )

    ARCHIVED Help With Analysis Results

Without knowing the actual numbers on your tests it is hard to tell if you are making any progress. Also, how long ago was your first round of testing. If your numbers are not dropping at all you are not making any progress, although interesting that the IgA was now negative. You could be a low IgA producer - you don't mention if total IgA was run.
  11. Well, of course he does, although you didn't mention his name. As I am told every time I turn around, "We are such a small country" (excuses for why they don't have anything in stock ) that everyone knows absolutely everybody. He would know me by lots of names, but not Shroomie
  12. The other thing you have to watch out for in Oregon is the moldy armpits
  13. Yes, Dr. Wangen is right, you are undoubtedly going through gluten withdawal. Hang in there and you will come out the other side. We always crave the things that are actually harming us.
  14. As a 5 yo., to be cool, smoked dried pine needles rolled in newspaper. Darned near burned down our shelter belt (Had an older male cousin who smoked and was just the coolest dude ) Almost started that again after I quit the real thing.....nah, just kidding! I found the important thing was to keep my hands busy, and to strike a match every now and then...
  15. Them rocks will get ya! I once went hiking in a rocky national park (well, the trail wasn't rocky but there were rocks everywhere except the trail, and those rocks were all third rocks from the relentless SUN which held HEAT and we was gone most of the day. And I had a hat and two bottles of water, both of which I employed, but when I got back to the...
  16. So sorry about the phlu, Patti and Mark. Sending some chicken soup I made yesterday before all the ingredients expired... hope it gets there warm!
  17. You go girl!! I did it by nibbling on carrot and celery sticks, and holding a pencil in my hand (and some valium to sleep at night).
  18. Well, I see it as a win-win situation. All had nice visit with Grandma, power is back on, a work day out of the office, FRESH food instead of what was moldering in fridge, and a generator for next time. Pity about the 1000 miles though, but at least gas has come down
  19. Now I've got a perfectly good sewing machine motor, with a perfectly good sewing machine attached to it, just going begging. The only problem with it - it is in New Zealand (220V) while the motor is 110. Brain out of gear during our rush move 10 years ago. Yeah, I know there are transformers, but nowadays I just contemplate it and think, gosh, I wish Jess...
  20. Your two weeks of gluten-free eating prior to testing undoubtedly had an effect on your test results. See the last sentence of comments. You make normal quantities of IgA. I have no genetic expertise, but it is apparent that you do not have DQ2 or DQ8 which are considered to be the only celiac genes in the U.S. (and are in fact the most common, but there...
  21. I believe most people self-diagnose due to frustration with the medical profession and their inability to do the job. It doesn't take much math to calculate that major symptoms after consumption of gluten which resolve when gluten is withdrawn means you have a problem with gluten (or wheat, etc.). Heck, a lot of people had not in the past even heard of...
  22. I personally approve going straight to biologics. I got really screwed up with DMARDS and anti-inflammatories. I developed pneumonitis and such other terrible side effects from methotrexate I thought I was going to die. Anti-inflammatories taken as prescribed just about did in my kidneys. Plaquenil worked for a while on my arthritis but really flared...
  23. Everyone's symptoms are different, same as with celiac. I got rashes and hives before they progressed to other, worse things when I didn't listen.
  24. We had 88 yesterday, projecting 88 today but them warmin' up a bit. 14% humidity. If I forget and leave a load of clothes in the washer, they dry anyway - I found out! Then you has to wash 'em again. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! And what is this sweat/glow stuff???
  25. I took VSL#3 for about a year - unflavored. Like you, I heard the flavored had gluten.
