  1. hubby had a full beard, and he would keep it pretty clean, he recently shaved for summer though, so I don't know. He is pretty good about brushing his teeth after eating anyway, so I haven't had to worry about that.
  2. when I was nursing I had to do the six small meals a day. oh, and I hear eggs are good for you I used to like boiled eggs with chicken, celery, pickles and mayo on crackers.
  3. During the fall to summer season I teach a class, and you wouldn't believe how many parents I get who forget how to spell their kids names, and it's not just the dad's either, lots of mom's forget. I have a kid, I still don't know if his name is D'wayne, Dewayne, or Dawane it's different on his shot record, his enrollment form, his b'day certificate and...
  4. okay, so I was reading because I was curious, I really want to take the girls now!! (okay I really wanted to take them before since I haven't been either, but now I REALLY REALLY want to go) it's going to be magic for them. I know it now. how cool. I am so excited (although we can't go until next year)
  5. I use Hunts, but you have to read it, like 3 of the "flavors" are gluten free but 2 are not, I am pretty sure the plain and mesquite are gluten free.. I would have to go to the fridge to check though. LOL
  6. I have way too many "duh" moments. The most hilarious and most embarassing one I can remember happened when I was about 8. I had a friend that was African American (from Zaire) and we were talking one day while waiting to get into the public pool, I had overheard the people in front of me talking about how hot it was and how they try to wear light colored...
  7. I was lacto-ovo for 5 years then vegan for 6, I felt really good vegan and have recently realized that when I was vegan I was also gluten free (weird how that happened) I started eating meat (and gluten) again when I got pregnant with my first kid and have been sick as a dog most days since. I have been eating gluten free for about a week (give or take...
  8. Jerry- what's the process you had to go through to get your teeth fixed? mine are really bad, I think they are all about rotted out, I assume from nutritional deficiency due to celiac, but my dentist (the last one I saw) said he could do veneers or something and I would have a "new smile" in 2 weeks, of course he wanted about $5K to do it, so I didn't have...
  9. hubby stoped smoking after 20 years, using hypnosis, we bought our tapes, but I recently found out you can check them out of the library for free, he had to listen to them every day for 30 minutes for a week then every other day for a week, then you are supposed to listen to them when you have "stressful" times, but he really hasn't had to use them anymore...
  10. pre-gluten free, I used to like oat bran with rasins and dried cranberrys (you can get a package of them mixed at the store) it was really good.
  11. I recently found out that I know someone who is married to one of the local news anchors (yeah, she kept her maiden name so I didn't connect the dots) I have been talking to her about celiac through email, she thinks her daughter might have it, and I was wondering if the local news might do a story on it.... I think I might be rude if I ask or something....
  12. how exciting I am supposed to try to make my first loaf of bread sometime today.... I think I am being a big chicken about it though, I am so scared it won't turn out. My 3 year old says though "if it doesn't work the first time it's practice, if it doesn't work the second time, it's a mistake, and if it doesn't work the third time, get Daddy to try...
  13. BIGGEST FRUSTRATION: being sick my whole life with seemingly unrelated symptoms, being told over and over that it was "anxiety" or "all in my head" when I knew I had no control over it. Feeling hopeless like I would be sick forever, and nobody cared. Hardest Thing to Give Up: cheese fries at outback steakhouse, they were my comfort food. What Made...
  14. I had a doctor tell me once to not do anything in my bedroom but sleep or have sex, no reading, no TV, nothing, and that instead of laying in bed thinking about not sleeping to get up and do something (exercise, clean house, ect.) and that when I felt tired to go lay back down. (even if I was in the middle of vacuuming the hallway, just lay down as soon as...
  15. I agree. You should go to the doctor, my grandfather had dark urine and didn't go for a while, when he finally did they found out that his UTI had gotten so bad that his kidneys were starting to shut down. Go to the doctor now, you could get out with some antibiotics, or he could tell you that you are fine. It sure beats kidney failure.
  16. that's important to remember. I try to stress that with my girls about their friends and stuff now. If they don't care about you enough to accept you, they aren't worth your time.
  17. they make a medicine you can take orally now, although it takes like 6 months to work, and I am not sure if it's gluten free or not, but I know someone who tried it and was pretty happy with the results.
  18. I think (last time I checked) that KRAFT marshmallows are okay, they say modified food starch but Kraft writes Wheat if it's got wheat and it doesn't say anything after it (or it might say corn, I don't remember.) in any case Jet Puffed are gluten-free
  19. it's all highly processed food, I know a few people who can't handle "non fresh food" that don't have celiac, maybe your body is trying to tell you to eat healthier? or you could go to the doctor, either way. LOL
  20. I know how big the pediatric tube is because I saw it when both of my girls had their endoscopy.... it's not as big as the colonoscopy tube that I saw when they were doing hubby's scope though... I doubt it's anything to worry about, it's probably the perfect size for the job.
  21. well, if we are going to eat vicariously through her, then eat a Kolache for me!!! oh, and I agree that if you are having 2nd thoughts about the diagnosis then you should check it out. It's a huge commitment to make when you aren't sure.
  22. I run 96.9 on a normal day, when I get up to 99.1 I feel like crap. Nobody ever believed me..... when I had my kids I started checking their temps on "normal days" so I would know what their baseline was, they both run low like me. My husband says that 98.6 isn't a set rule but an average meaning people can run higher or lower and still be normal.
  23. hubby had endo about 2 months ago, he said that it wasn't a big deal and I know for a fact he was drugged a lot since he asked me the same question 45 times (yeah, I counted) in the 4 hours after the procedure. If you are very anxious (like I get) ask your doctor to tell you 100% everything they are going to do before the IV starts, then you can wake up and...
  24. things seem worse today, I am itchy all over, achey, I have a headache and I can't think, I seriously can't concentrate on anything, I forgot how to spell Wednesday?! I am sitting here earlier and helping my 4 year old with her math, and I forgot how to explain how to carry when we are adding 2 digit numbers, it's like my brain quit working..... ...
  25. okay so I have been through denial and anger... what happens next? (so, I can forwarn hubby and he doesn't think I lost my mind?!)
