  1. I tried this idea above this morning to make cookies from the cake mix. They were ok after the first 15 mins. or so, but not great. Too hard now to really enjoy. I cooked the first batch 20 mins. The second batch 15, and the third batch 13 minutes. All are now very hard. I feel like I just wasted the almost $5 for the cake mix and the money for the butter...
  2. Hey everybody, I have a $25 gift certificate to a bookstore and was wondering which gluten-free cookbook you like best and actually USE? Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
  3. Wal-mart has it in the gluten-free section. That's where I buy most of my flour.
  4. THANK YOU so much!
  5. Here's the Amazing one... After some experiment, the recipe is perfected. My gluten-eating friends have all requested that I bring these to every gathering, and many of them took the recipe as well! 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup butter (CF-margarine) 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla Cream the above together, then stir in 2.5 cup Kinnikinnick cookie mix Roll between...
  6. Can you use wax-paper instead of parchment?
  7. Karen, here's the one everyone seems to like on this board. I just copied and hopefully it will paste: I use this sugar cookie recipe from Gluten free cookie school. They're really good. The best part is that you can be flexible. I made DH these cookies with m&m's in them. Gluten Free Sugar Cookies 1 c. sugar 1 c. butter (2 sticks) 1 egg...
  8. Hi everyone. I have arthritis in my hands and prefer to make bars in 8x8 or 9x13 pans instead of cookies. Anyone have a good recipe for shortbread bars?
  9. Purple, these sound amazing. How much sorghum, cornstach, and the other? Also, is cornstarch better for cookies than potato starch?

  13. Maybe that's why Whole Foods doesn't carry Millet Flour...could it be too many returns?
  14. Kenlove, hi. I can answer this one. Steer clear of Knorr if you have MSG sensitivity b/c their products are LOADED with MSG.
  15. Hi everyone, I felt my T-giving meal was a success. Our niece even asked for my Caraway Soda Bread recipe. I was so pleased. She said she is going to bake it exactly per the recipe b/c she liked it so much. I use the Bette Hagman recipe in one of my cookbooks. If anyone wants it, let me know. Which of your recipes turned out so amazing that you plan...

  17. My hubs will take care of that for us Thanks! I eat completely gluten free, but am not willing to eat gluten to take the celiac test.
  18. Thanks for sharing positive vibes. We all so need those. I had a positive experience yesterday, too. My niece even asked for my recipe for the Caraway Soda Bread from Bette Hagman's recipe book. I told her she could probably just substitute wheat flour. She said no she liked the rice flour and would go to Whole Foods and buy some and make the rice flour mix...
  19. That sounds exactly like a bug I got two weeks ago. The symptoms went on for about two wks. off and on with the nausea, but didn't throw up. I'm pretty sure I wasn't glutened. Hope you feel better soon.
  20. The Zone way of combining protein, carbs, and small amt. of good fat every time I ate was the only thing that helped me to lose the weight. After going back through my gluten free material from years ago, I found an article by an MD who stated that people with gluten sensitivities do better on a zone type diet, so that confirmed it for me.
  21. Hello everyone. Oddly enough, I who read every label before purchasing, for some reason decided to buy some red licorice for a *holiday treat* without checking the ingredients. Silly me. Looked on the back this morning after having a sick headache for three days in a row and the second ingredient is wheat flour. Whoda thought? Anyone know if wheat can...
  22. It is hard to mess up white chili. We love it!
  23. After reading Bette Hagman's comments in one of her cookbooks and remembering several other things I've read, I've always steered clear of buckwheat flour. What is the real scoop on buckwheat? Anyone know? Is it gluten-free?
  24. Purple, I tried your pumpkin muffins and they were great! Thanks for the link
  25. Isn't all cornmeal gluten-free? I thought it was.
