Celiac.com - Celiac Disease & Gluten-Free Diet Support Since 1995

  1. So you didn't eat anything else yesterday? It seems strange that they would add "gluten-free" on their packaging if there is a chance of cross-contamination, but it's possible. Have you called them? That is what I would do. It would be interesting to hear their response.
  2. I've seen this study but am a bit skeptical of it's findings. While I do believe that people with celiac disease are more prone to have additional food intolerance issues, I don't believe that the cause is due to "molecule mimicry" or what this describes as "cross-reactivity." Additional food intolerances are likely separate issues, and they can be temporary...
  3. Does this chili powder have "gluten-free" on the label? Just curious, because I've never had issues with their spices.
  4. Welcome, and it sounds like you're on the right track by getting the blood screening for celiac disease. Please share the results with us when you get them. Your symptoms could definitely be due to undiagnosed celiac disease, among other things. It sounds like your doctor is on the ball, and scheduling the various tests necessary to rule things in or...
  5. Celiac.com 02/16/2021 - We get a lot of questions about various foods and dishes. One question we've seen a lot is about Phở, or Pho, as in the famous Vietnamese soup. More than a few of our readers want to know if Phở is gluten-free and...
  6. I just want to point out that doctors don't recommend taking potassium supplements unless they are prescribed by a doctor: https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/should-i-take-a-potassium-supplement
  7. That's interesting, and I've been taking turmeric for a couple of years now. Perhaps I'll increase how much I'm taking to see if it helps.
  8. Welcome to the forum. I'm not aware of a Zonulin test, but am aware of at least one company targeting a drug that regulates Zonulin levels that may one day help treat celiac disease.
  9. Yes, it can take up to two years to recover. Be sure your diet is 100% gluten-free, and this article might be helpful:
  10. Did you ever find a doctor there?
  11. How is this going?
  12. I've been to Eureka quite a few times, and you are right, it's a challenge to feel safe eating out. I do bring GliadinX whenever I eat out now, which had helped a lot, but when it comes to safety there is no substitute for brining your own food. I love Mexican food and can usually find something safe in a family run place. In Eureka I go to Oaxaca Grill Restaurant...
  13. Nobody replied...but how did the trip go? Perhaps you can share some info that will help others?
  14. There are probably too many GF snacks now to keep track of, which is good news for us!
  15. It looks great, I wish they had this near me in California!
  16. We had a traditional Chinese New Year dinner last night with rice, Taiwanese spinach, and fish (which is traditional for new year).
  17. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
  18. It's interesting how nutrient deficiencies can cause a chain reaction and many other issues. Celiac disease definitely doesn't stop with just a gluten-free diet, and most people need supplementation to fully recover.
  19. For me it was closer to two years, but like all celiacs, especially going back to the time when I was diagnosed (mid 90's), there were errors in my diet that were made along the way, so it might have been only 1 year had I done everything right. This article may be helpful:
  20. Sorry but in your post you say: "prior to seeing the GI i had an ultrasound that showed gallbladder liver and pancreas were all normal and i had a blood test as well which showed all my levels were normal." I guess I don't understand your post, because you said that your gallbladder is normal. Did the doctor find something that you are not sharing in your...
  21. I think this varies greatly from person to person, and depends on how much damage was done to your intestines, but for me I began feeling better immediately. My full recovery took a couple of years, and I also had to temporarily eliminate several other foods in addition to gluten to recover.
  22. What IGG supplement do you mean? I've not heard of this in support of celiac disease, but am interested to find out more. I recently stated using a probiotic called Bifidobacterium Infantis, which does have research that backs it up as something that can help people with celiac disease: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=infantis&type=cms_records...
  23. Many people definitely notice this, as well as a reduced number of trips to the bathroom! I wasn't in the habit of counting my toilet paper usage, but can attest that the before vs. after going gluten-free was a dramatic shift in reduced trips to the bathroom.
