  1. The best thin crust pizza is from Grandma Ferdon's, it's frozen. Even non-celiacs love it. Hopefully you are in one of the midwest states that they service. I enjoy their lefse (seasonal only), lemon bars, pumpkin bars, dumplings and pumpernickel bread (either party size or full size bread). Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  2. No reason to give up your beer or pizza/pasta. Just find the gluten free kind. Yes, you may have to order it and it'll cost more. You did this because it's hard to be gluten free. No need to beat yourself up, the gluten already done that. Looking forward to hearing that you are gluten free and feeling better.
  3. I haven't tried this yet but read the gluten free tip on the right side: Open Original Shared Link
  4. I tried their hot dog buns tonight. Not bad if your warmed them first. My dd and I both scrooped out the middle part because there seemed to be too much bread. I'd buy them again.
  5. Before I went gluten-free I always had undigested food in my stool.
  6. Food diary is the way to go. It will show patterns that you might not think of when looking back over a few days or weeks. Just make sure to record everything including things put on your lips (chap stick), toothpaste change and gum or small breath mints.
  7. Europe is far ahead of the US in providing gluten free food. I'm surprised you are having such problems. Did you research for places to eat before going?
  8. Here is what their website has to say. Open Original Shared Link Does Beano contain gluten? The smallest amount of gluten that can be chemically detected in a product is 0.00016 percent. Results of our testing have shown that Beano contains less than 0.00016 percent gluten. Although the amount of gluten in Beano is less than the limit of detection...
  9. I received this form Nestle's today: October 1, 2009 Thank you for taking the time to contact Nestl
  10. Psoriasis can also look like Mycosis Fungoides. I have a family member (32 yrs old) who was being treated for psoriasis for years. He happened to find a doctor who knew this disease is often (yes often) mistaken for psoriasis. It's another disease ,like celiac, which is still thought to be rare. And don't think you have to be older to have this. Most cases...
  11. Surprisingly your doctor gave you good advice about going dairy free for awhile. I suggest you go dairy and soy free for at least a month to see if there is any improvement. And keep a food diary, you may find another food that bothers you (like corn). You are not crazy, it's the gluten that drives us crazy. No two people have the same symptoms that follow...
  12. 1. Are you really sure your diet is gluten free? As a nurse I thought I was doing ok until I found this site! 2. Is the fiber supplement gluten free? 3. Are you having problems with another food intolerance? If you keep a diary of everything that goes into your mouth you should find our what is bothering you.
  13. Have to know the brand name of the wursts to say for sure. Were the potatoes and broccoli plain or mixed with something else? Plain without seasonings or a sauce they would be fine.
  14. Pasta arrived at 5:07 p.m.! I know the exact time because I was just driving home in the pouring rain when I saw the FedEx truck in my driveway. I was franticly pushing my garage door opener hoping he wouldn't leave with my package. He didn't, he was busy wrapping it in plastic so he could leave it on the porch. Instead he carried into the garage and right...
  15. Raising my hand and heading to look at my Beano bottle. Then I'll email them! Thanks
  16. Email from VS dated Oct 1, 2009, I asked if their makeup was gluten free: Thank you for your e-mail regarding gluten in our makeup. We are pleased to assist you with your inquiry. We can provide you with the ingredient listing for any specific product you are inquiring on; however, we are unable to make any guarantees that it doesn't appear in trace...
  17. Trisha, I'm with you about B12. I was put on it as a treatment for my fibromyalgia. I do weekly shots now. I can really tell if I miss a week or two. It also helps relieve my migraines.
  18. Cyndi, Welcome to the world celiacs! You have just experienced why so many people are suffering. Your pain will not hurt your doctor at all. It's like telling someone you only have a little cancer, come back later when it's spread and is worse. Someday doctors will get the education they need on celiac disease. I pray that doctors start developing the...
  19. Have you tried adding some beans (as in soup type, kidney, navy, lima, etc) and some prunes to her diet? I'd start with 1/4 cup beans and one prune daily. Increase the prunes to two if it doesn't help after the first week. And how do you get prunes into a kid who won't eat them dried? Take a handful of pitted prunes, toss into a pan. Add 1/2 cup water...
  20. Del, My heart goes out to you! Please accept my prayers for strength during this time.
  21. IMO, I don't think it's an issue with food or education of the effects of gluten. It's respect. If a person respects you they respect your views (doesn't mean they agree with you) and your limitations (what you eat, what you believe in and physical limitations). Yes, education can help but if it's they don't respect you it will not matter. The problem...
  22. Kinnikinnick S'moreables, yes I think they are good. I don't eat them plain. S'more Brownies You can break them up and add to a brownie mix. Then frost with melted marshmallows (or marshmallow fluff). This is also good with some candy corns sprinkled on top for Halloween. Toffee Bars Line a 9x13 pan with foil. Then line the bottom with whole graham...
  23. Love Schar too. I'll do a taste test as soon as my pasta arrives. My pasta was in Chicago at midnight. It's only a 7 hour drive from me so where are they? Taking a break while I'm dreaming of pasta dinners?
  24. Oh mushroom, you have made my day! I've been in the same place so many times before I went gluten free!
  25. Sounds like you are heading toward a gluten free kitchen in the near future. You all will feel better. Don't worry, yes a lot of gluten free items are costly. You don't have to buy the special foods there are normal everyday foods that can be eated. Just think meat and veggies instead of packages of prepared food. Yes, it will take more time but the crock...
