  1. Yep, we have to be on our guard all the time. Of course Coca Cola was also the brilliant company that thought they'd change the formula for coke, the world's number one selling soft drink. Open Original Shared Link
  2. There is plenty of information on the Internet showing the ingredients of how the Brand Name Coca Cola differs from country to country. I guess I just knew it differs since I've lived in other countries. Even between foods made in Canada and the USA differ.
  3. Never assume that a product that is gluten free in one country is gluten free in another. Many items items are not made with the exact same ingredients in another country. Just something else to give us all a headache or worse.
  4. You get 5 stars for researching and Reporting. This helps so much.
  5. Make sure to teach you ds that regular chicken nuggets make him itchy. Your ds will be the one to suffer when "well meaning but not accepting" people think they can feed him items with gluten. Very young children can start learning to avoid gluten if it's related to making them suffer.
  6. Great info, tfs.
  7. Keep a kissing journal along with a food journal. Or just give up kissing to see it that helps.
  8. Would be fun to get everyone to go together to get her 40 gift cards. 40 one dollar bills folded in different origami shapes along with a book on origami. Basket of 40 different teas plus a cup and saucer or tea pot. Basket of 40 different items you need when you turn forty (laxative, aspirin, lubricating jell, denture tabs, hemorrhoid cream,......
  9. Would make an interesting research study.
  10. I had forgotten this symptom! I always felt as if I needed more oxygen before going gluten-free so I did a lot of sighs!
  11. I do eat a mix grain cereal that has Amaranth. I've taken two bags back because of the funny odor.
  12. Yes, it does happen even when being extremely careful. At home, at a friends and in the community. Just know it will happen, do the best you can and enjoy what you eat even if it's just a plain baked potato. My favorite thing to do is to go out to eat. Since it's hard to find a restaurant that is totally gluten free I decided to just make my favorite ...
  13. My sil developed celiac symptoms after the birth of her first child. Of course 40 years ago it was called "new mother's nervous stomach, it's all in your head, relax".
  14. When I first tell people (and only tell them if asked) I say that "gluten makes me very sick and it's worth my health to avoid". Now if someone is really interested in why I'm gluten free, I will tell them about how this disease is on the rise and that many people could be helped by eating gluten free. I give them a quick run down on the symptoms and how...
  15. Be sure to tell the restaurant about your dinning experience with them. Either by email if they have it or by written letter. Not a point my finger letter but about how disappointed you were that some gluten was overlooked and made you sick.
  16. You are another one of my heroes for going gluten free with your spouse!
  17. Red Lobster Case ID:773105Wednesday, October 28, 2009 4:31 PMFrom: "resrlg@darden.com" <resrlg@darden.com> October 28, 2009 Thank you for your interest in Red Lobster; it is always a pleasure to hear from our guests. We appreciate your interest in our menu and the availability of gluten-free items in our restaurants. While we cannot guarantee...
  18. It really depends if you have skin problems related to gluten. I have to use gluten free personal care products because I will get rashes, hives and itching from products with gluten. They probably won't give your intestines problems but that doesn't mean they are safe for celiacs. Each person is different.
  19. I will give them an A+ for their response time, less than half an hour: Kao Brands Company, Reference # 001818993A.Wednesday, October 28, 2009 1:00 PMFrom: "consumer@kaobrands.com" <consumer@kaobrands.com> : Thank you for contacting us! 20. I can't handle McDs fries. I don't even drive in for a drink there. Too many kids working there that do not realise the importance of keeping clean a uncontaminated fryer. I worked in fast foods and so did my ds. Know too much about what goes on when the managers are not looking (or not interested).
  21. My first thought was for you to increase the amount of protein you are eating. It might help. It's easy and no trip to the doctor is required. Remember, real meat and plain veggies are gluten free. Just stay a way from processed foods. Also keep a food journal so you can look over what you've eaten in case you do get sick. There really isn't any reason...
  22. Oh gosh, I'm printing these to hang over my desk.
  23. Interesting. I have fibromyalgia but not on Savella. I noticed my fibromyalgia got better once I was gluten free.
  24. Call or email the company that makes the flour mixes you like to try. Ask for a sample. Most companies are very happy to send a sample for you to try.
  25. Ok, I made patty melts this weekend. I used Udi's Whole Grain Bread and a pound of hamburger. The hamburger made enough patties for 8 sandwiches. I frozen the extra patties after cooking. I didn't use any spice in it, just plain. I used Woliki's idea with the caraways seeds. It was wonderful! I'm having one for lunch today. Thanks for the idea!
