ARCHIVED Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid
Ahorsesoul replied to Becci's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just called Mrs. Meyers to see if their products were gluten free. They are but do have coconut, corn and soy. I talked to a customer service person first, she put me on hold to ask the chemist, then looked over the product ingredients list and didn't find anything. A few minutes after I had hung up the chemist also called me to reassure me the products... -
ARCHIVED Bread/roll Baking Tips
Ahorsesoul replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm impressed. They look delicious. -
I do not expect people to label their foods. It's hard enough for me to figure out what has gluten or not. I would not trust a whole group of people who are uneducated in celiac disease. Sounds like celiac Russian roulette.

Interesting thought. My gums use to pull back anytime I ate pizza. I always blamed it on the tomatoes and that pizza is best eaten hot (or cold for breakfast). Now that I am gluten free I don't have this problem but still am eating hot pizza and tomatoes.

ARCHIVED Bloating And Constipation
Ahorsesoul replied to pookie91260's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Keeping a food and feeling journal may help you track down what exactly is bothering you. When you went gluten free did you also go dairy and soy free to let your intestines heal? If not, that might help. -

ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Turkey And Stuffing
Ahorsesoul replied to elburn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've always said the best recipes are those that use strange ingredients that you'd never pair together. So waffles for suffing probably would make fantasic dressing. I never toast my bread cubes. Just use fresh bread. -
I started my B12 shots daily for two weeks, now I do weekly shots, at home. Your doctor can write you a prescription for them. A nurse at the clinic can teach you how to do them. Just check with your insurance company to see if they will pay for the shots you do yourself. It actually hurts less if given into the tummy area. I was always doing them into...

ARCHIVED Fight!
Ahorsesoul replied to Alphawave's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
IMO this step-son is just attempting to poke a hornet's nest to see what trouble he can cause. Pretend you never read it. Nothing will come to any good by telling him that you read it and are upset. And if he confronts you about it, just say "you are right about that". No, you don't have to really mean that you agree with whatever he says (it will be something... -
ARCHIVED Soyatoo! Rice Whip
Ahorsesoul replied to Ahorsesoul's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
While living in Germany one of our favorite outings was to go for spaghetti ice cream. It isn't hard to make, I use a potato ricer. I use this recipe but never have used the oj listed. It just makes an ice cream sundae very special. Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED Soyatoo! Rice Whip
Ahorsesoul posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'll be making spaghetti ice cream for a group. One of them does not do dairy or gluten so I'm looking for a whipped topping for her. Anyone ever used the Soyatoo products? I have an email into the company. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pie Crust Mix Tips
Ahorsesoul replied to Evie4's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
After mixing the crust, I pat the bottom of the crust into the pie pan. Then I chill the crust for the top at least half an hour. I roll the top crust between plastic wrap. Flip it onto the pie and I do not worry if it's not perfect. -
ARCHIVED Progresso Soups
Ahorsesoul replied to celiackitcat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm going to make this for tonight. This is of the things my mom made for us when we were kids and the budget was tight, we loved it. We thought it was a treat. Little brother hated mushrooms so my mom convinced him those little squares of mushrooms were hamburger squares. -
ARCHIVED Against The Grain Pizza Crust Review
Ahorsesoul replied to Ahorsesoul's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I picked up the Against the Grain rolls today. I made one into a sandwich, wonderful. These rolls will be used for Thanksgiving. They are best if warmed. I feel all gluten free bread items benefit from a warming. -
I was gluten free shopping today. I picked up Against the Grain's rolls. They are excellent, light and flaky when a little warm from the microwave. I think if heated in the oven they would be more flaky. They will be my rolls for Thanksgiving.

ARCHIVED Happy Birthday Jestgar
Ahorsesoul replied to jerseyangel's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
May your Birthday bring you many happy memories and a gluten free cake. -
I do hate to say this because I know going with your friend is so important. But if you are going to be afraid of getting poisoned the whole time you are there you will not enjoy yourself? And would the recover time be worth it? You have to decide if it's worth being sick should you go with your friend. IMO, I think it's too hard to expect a restricted...

ARCHIVED Scared, Depressed, And Tired
Ahorsesoul replied to Mstanton25's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You can still live on pizza, beer and bread. Udi's bread, either white or whole grain, excellent for gluten free bread. Ask your local organic food store to order some if they don't carry it. ARCHIVED Betty Crocker gluten-free Yellow Cake Mix
Ahorsesoul replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My local regular grocery store use to have these in their gluten free section. Betty Crocker insisted they display them in with the poison cake mixes. I thought they had stopped carrying them until someone told me this. -
At one time I felt the same as you. Now I know there are some good gluten free pizza crusts, bread and pasta. You do get what you pay for and the better tasting cost more than their weight in gold. But worth it. I'd buy them even if I wasn't gluten free.

You could try some potassium pills or eat a banana a day. For leg cramps, a doctor at Mayo told my step-mom to take Benadryl for 4 to 5 days. It's suppose to help the cramps for a few months.
