  2. Soy Sauce: La Choy soy sauce and San-J wheat free Tamari
  3. I'd love your chocolate toffee shortbread recipe. It sounds really good. I'll try it with Pamela's Baking/Pancake mix. I'm waiting for someone to invent frozen gluten free phyllo dough. I'm to lazy to try it from a recipe.
  4. I know some brands of root beer and orange soda are not gluten free. I don't drink diet so not sure about the diet. To be safe always check with the company. What brand name to do drink?
  5. Funny how the government tells us not to order drugs made in a foreign country but will let the local pharmacy hand it to us. Just picked up my Imitrex RX, of course my insurance company now want me to take a generic. I did ask the pharmacist if it was gluten free. She looked toward the drug flyer, tossed it down on the counter saying 'oh yea, no gluten...
  6. He could try a glass of oj, lemon water or a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (not flavored but real apple cider vinegar) before eating. It may help him.
  7. I get migraines a few times a month. I've never thought to track them with my dairy intake. Will do so over the next few months. Interesting becaue when I first when gluten free the mirgraines were gone. For the first 6 months I was also dairy free. Hmmmmm....hauling out the food journal.

    ARCHIVED Hello

So glad you are taking charge of your life!
  9. Remember that lab results that are normal may not be your normal. Lab results are an average: some people are higher, some lower for their normal. My B12 and thyroid lab results were always in the normal range. Not until I found a doctor who told me that yea they were normal but low normal. Since I had symptoms of low B12 and thyroid I should be taking...
  10. Ask your local health food store to order some for you or contact your local celiac group to see if there are a few other people who would like to put in an order. It never hurts to ask.
  11. I love Spam. Thanks, I was always going to look up if it was gluten free! I slice it, fry it in butter, sprinkle it with a little brown sugar and top with pineapple. Think we'll have spam this week.
  12. If you are newly gluten free, sometimes both dairy and soy will bother you until your intestines have had time to heal.
  13. These stuffed chicken wings are wonderful. Just use gluten free soy sauce and gluten-free bread/cracker crumbs. Open Original Shared Link
  14. Forget the cheating. Think of how you baby will feel when you cheat--the same as you. Have you changed to a prenatal vitamin that might not be gluten/dairy free?
  15. "I pretty much live off of CARBS, veggies, fruits, beans, fish. " So now you will live off veggies, fruits, beans and fish. You can do this. It might be hard while on vacation for a newbie buy you sound determined! Check out the restaurants ahead of time to see what you can order. Many places have websites so you could email them. Or once there make...
  16. Perhaps not really Thai but these look good: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...amp;hl=skinless
  17. I live in a small town with two grocery stores. At the smallest store (not Wal-Mart) the deli will slice deli meat and cheese on a clean slicer first thing in the morning. They just ask that I put in my order the night before and let them know the reason (i.e. gluten free). Your store might do this if you ask to talk to the deli manager. Stores should be...
  18. I'll email them and also give this info to my family. I have a brother and sil, both born in Omaha! Thanks
  19. Welcome to the gluten free world! You will feel so much better once you are gluten/dairy free. On the upside your lactose intolerance MAY go away once you are gluten free and your intestines heal. Also (on the down side) you may want to avoid soy for a few months while you heal. It's hard but well worth the trouble. We are here for you to vent.
  20. We get plates of cookies all the time. Of course they are poison cookies so I bless the neighbor with them. Her kids love them. Makes me happy to share. Enjoy the cookie exchange. I make most of my old cookie recipes with Pamela's Baking/Pancake Mix without any problems.
  21. I go with the Hormel Naturals also. One of the grocery stores in town carries gluten free deli meat, Kretschmar products. I haven't tried it because of the cross containation issues. The store's dietitian told me it should be ok if I order it the day before so they can slice it after they clean their equipment. Right now I'm happy with Hormel. You could...
  22. Jason, You sure sound like you are feeling alot better than you were a few weeks ago. I'd be tempted to try the place. It would depend on how sensitive you are to the cross contamination issue.
  23. Meat roll-ups. Lunch meat wrapped around a pickle or a cooked carrot. Slap in a piece of cheese if you eat dairy. Just like a sandwich without the bread. You can put on mayo or mustard if desired. It will hit the spot on your away from home trips.
  24. If you send me the name of this restaurant I will send them an emailing telling them I heard they had fantastic service for celiacs. Also if you post the restaurant's name and the city it's located in under the restaurant section when others visit that area they will know where to go eat. Nice to hear of such a great dinning experience. https://www.celiac...
  25. That's what I thought. At least now we have a baseline so it they go up we can tell there some gluten sneaking into her diet.
