The only way you will know is to add protein to your diet. I crave and dream about protein if I don't eat it on a regular basis. After testing, a nutritionist asked me if I ate red meat. I of course figured she was going to tell me to cut down my red meat intake. Instead she told me my tests indicated I needed to eat more. I feel so much better now. So...

I was eating at a friends house for dinner. It was brats. They were so good I thought I'd have another. I remember thinking I'd have to ask her what brand she was serving because it was do good. As I went to serve myself another one I noticed the BUN I had in my hand. Oh, yea, a poison bun, no wonder they tasted so good!!!! I was so sick. I'd been gluten... -

I am thinking of trying the Shrimp pasta in a Foil Package. Not sure it will work with gluten-free pasta but it sounds good. I have the recipe printed ready to go this weekend. I've wanted to try that cake. Way too many recipes on her site. Love her steak bites. -

My most favorite cookie: Pistachio Macaroons and it's gluten free. Not for the diet minded. Pistachio macaroons Ingredients For the macaroons: 1/3 cup or 3 ounces pistachios 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar 2 large egg whites 1 tbsp sugar For the buttercream: 1/4 cup or 2 ounces pistachios 1 2/3 cups confectioners'... -
ARCHIVED Need To Vent
Ahorsesoul replied to A&Z'S MOM's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Perhaps at the fair you could trade you dh in for a stuffed animal? His support should be with you on their diet in my mind. At the information booth at our fair I discovered they now have handouts for various speciality diets and who has food for each diet. I only laughingly asked for a gluten free sheet and the guy whipped one out. I almost fell over... -

Yep, just hold on for the ride. You body will handle it the best way it knows. Won't be fun but it will pass. Tell dear boyfriend I said he needs to fall in love with some gluten free beans please. -

2 or 3 prunes may help the constipation or increase the amount of beans on the menu to daily (if beans are tolerated) -

Funny, I trust the word of the people posting here more than a nutritionist with a company (who is their meal ticket). Unless they are gluten free they really might not really know. As a nurse I've talked to nutritionists who didn't have a clue. Within the last two years, my dd had an appointment with a nutritionist at Mayo Clinic in the cardiac department... -

I was gluten free when we had our chickens. We had someone who would butcher them for us. We'd do 40 or so at a time. Fruits and veggies will be fine. Meats, veggies and fruits are naturally gluten free so don't worry about what you have stock piled. It's mainly the processed foods that have gluten in them. Turkey and some meats can be injected with broth... -

Replace any coated cooking pans, plastic ware that might hold gluten, plastic or wooden cutting boards, anything with tiny holes or crevices that gluten might not be washed out of. Check personal care products, toothpaste, shampoo, gum, breath mints and supplements (vitamins), anything that might go into his mouth or be on his hands. I've been gluten... -
ARCHIVED Diet Soda
Ahorsesoul replied to KikiUSA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I fully agree with getting rid of the diet soda. My dd drank it when she first moved here. I had her switch to regular soda. She dropped 10 pounds, her shakiness stopped and she was not so irritable. -
ARCHIVED Lightheaded Still

Rocks in your ears can cause you to be dizzy. My dd had this and the treatment was easy (but made her dizzy for a few hours). Our PT therapist said this is very common in people. BPPV explained: Open Original Shared Link -

I have not tried this so I really do not know if it would work using a gluten-free chocolate cake mix. I thought if there were fans they might want to try. I could also see them covered in melted marshmallow and coated with coconut to make snowballs. The author of this recipe does a great write up. Open Original Shared Link

Toxic Toaster, love it! You can always arrange to go away for a week during the time he wants to bake. Have a cleaning service come to clean the kitchen top to bottom before you come home. Other wise he should learn to do his speciality baking with gluten free items. We'd love to have him share his recipes if they are gluten free. It sounds tough but... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other Wants To Say Something

Sounds like she was not doing well. I suggest you go gluten free with her. It will give you a good insight that she's doing this for her health and not just a fad. My dh is now gluten free and found out he feels better. -
ARCHIVED Enjoy Life Cookie Cookbook & Thumbprint Cookie Recipe
Ahorsesoul replied to IAtodd's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I really have not had good luck using actual gluten free recipes either. Now I just use a regular poison recipe. I use Pamela's for the flour. I'm really picky about how things taste so I guess I don't want the taste of a gluten free recipe. I want it as real tasting as possible. -
ARCHIVED How To Clean Gluten Contamination.
Ahorsesoul replied to jackay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Take a deep breath and relax. You will be fine. General cleaning will be fine. You may need to replace a few items, vacuum drawers and cabinets but you don't need to burn down the house. Your house will be rid of the gluten over time not over night. Do not worry about your clothes unless you roll around in a tub of flour. Getting your dh (other family... -
