Maybe you could work in a retail store where you didn't have to actually handle any gluten?

ARCHIVED Kirkland Hickory Smoked Spiral Ham?
cmom replied to Jodie2DQ2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i was so excited today when we walked into Sam's Club. As soon as we walked thru the door, there was a cooler full of Ridge Creek spiral cut honey hams. It said right on the big sign "GLUTEN FREE" and when I checked the glaze packet, it also said GLUTEN FREE right on it! OF course, I had to buy one! -
ARCHIVED Ucsd Celiac Center Video On Youtube
cmom replied to GFinDC's topic in Publications & Publicity
I watched the entire presentation and found two things interesting: 1. The only blood test they recommended or felt necessary was the ttg 2. When they answered an audience member's question regarding lactose intolerance, there was no mention made of the fact that the damaged tips of the villi are what digest the lactose. They just kind of left it up... -
ARCHIVED Fathers Gi - Is He An Idiot?
cmom replied to Ken70's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Idiot...followed closely by the Condescending who pretend to be sympathetic but really just believe you are a hypochondriac. Sorry, I'm a little jaded when it comes to the medical profession. -
It also took me 10+ years to be diagnosed. After multiple trips to multiple doctors, I was sent to a psychiatrist who then sent me to a psychologist who then sent me to some kind of chiropractor. I would tell them to please stay on top of this disease and LISTEN to your patients. Do not write off what they are saying and if they request a celiac screening...

After hearing alot about mascarpone, I finally found some. Anyone have recipes for me to try? TIA

After sitting in a chair for less than an hour, I experience alot of pain upon standing. It doesn't seem to matter what type of chair I have been sitting in or in what position. It lasts a minute or two and then diminishes. Sometimes the pain is pretty severe. I'm only 48 and didn't think this type of problem occurred until later. Anyone experienced...

Good advice about mailing her a letter. I finally (along with his now wife) talked my son into getting tested. All his tests were negative but I truly believe he is gluten intolerant, and so does she. However, he will not eat gluten free since nothing came back positive. and yes, I've told him his body will be damaged once it actually becomes celiac but...

ARCHIVED First Gfcf Christmas -- Gluteny Gifts
cmom replied to zarfkitty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know...it totally stinks and is so frustrating at times. I have had co-workers bring something in to share and say "now, you can have wheat, right?" WHAT?!?!? I've explained it as much as possible without reaching the point of their eyes glazing over, but many of them still just can't comprehend it. -
I'm 5'0. I work as a teaching assistant for 4th thru 6th graders and they are always getting a kick out of the fact that they're taller than me.

ARCHIVED Celestial Seasonings Tea
cmom replied to Joni63's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
All the ones I've bought from Celestial Seasonings is gluten-free. In fact...I just looked in my booklet and I wrote down these are safe: Almost sunset Gingerbread Spice Ginseng Energy Canadian Vanilla Maple Decaf English Toffee Echinacea Sugar Plum Spice Vanilla Hazelnut Detox A.M. Roastaroma But I can't remember where I found that list..... -
I am so very sorry, Paula. The holiday season is an especially difficult time to lose a family member. My grandmother was buried on New Year's Day. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

ARCHIVED Celestial Seasonings Tea
cmom replied to Joni63's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Be careful! I checked out the holiday Celestial Seasonings tea flavors and they all had roasted barley as an ingredient except for the Candy Cane Lane flavor. -
After the previous posts, this question is probably pointless but I have been looking at the Sunbeam stand mixers, 350 watts (due to financial constraints). Any input? Thanks.

ARCHIVED For People With Roommates...help
cmom replied to num1habsfan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I truly feel for you. I know that it has been suggested in the past that maybe you are just too sensitive or misinterpreting your roommates' actions. I, however, disagree. I know I have not witnessed their actions, but I do know women (they seem to be so much worse) who would do the things you mention just for spite to see if you get sick. Unfortunately... -
I hear you...we have been playing catch up for the past 11 months and still aren't there. My son was married in July and we had to be groom AND bride's parents if you know what I mean. We also had an unexpected $1,000 expense back in May. Within the next 2 weeks, we have property taxes due, mortgage payment, and a car payment not to mention the other monthly...

ARCHIVED New Gi -- Is He Missing Something?
cmom replied to sandyg's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, have the bone scan. I had no clue that I had osteopenia until I had one even though I have had several broken bones over the years. -
Since I have been gluten-free for several years now, I decided to buy some Cream Hill Estates oats and give them a try. Does anyone have any good recipes/ideas? Can they be substituted for quick oats as well? THanks.
-
What do you substitute for the french fried onions in your green bean casserole? I tried using "Funyons" and they disintegrated!! THanks.

ARCHIVED Yeah Halloween Rocked This Year!
cmom replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Stef, Yes, there is a new Mint Three Musketeers with dark chocolate. I had one 3 or 4 days ago. I read the ingredients and they appeared to be okay and I have not had any noticeable problems from it. I actually thought it was pretty good and am normallly not a 3M fan!!!! -
I agree with both sides of this discussion. First of all, yes, we should be allowed to vent about WHATEVER we are feeling at the time and it should not be perceived as whining. Most of the time I am satisfied with my gluten-free life and can deal with it. At other times, especially if I am really hungry, tired, or under a lot of stress, I cry easily when...

ARCHIVED Controlling Bodily Functions
cmom replied to LilyCeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have experienced this many times. I am sooooo much better after going totally gluten-free. HOWEVER, I feel that after so many years of uncontrollable diarrhea, my body is somewhat conditioned to this, if that makes any sense. I do not have refractory sprue but still sometimes have issues. My sons are only 15 months apart, and when they were preschool...
