  1. i always just call my doctor's receptionist- and ask her over the phone to mail me my results and they always do. good luck to you-
  2. hey there- i thought i'd share the thread from last night about this very same post-
  3. hey- im attaching a link of a search concerning wheat & gluten linked to schizophrenia ( i LOVE these guys at Greenmed info): Open Original Shared Link
  4. also- i HIGHLY recommend- that you request your own paper copies of the results from your Celiac panel- you would be surprised to know how difficult it can be to see a positive or a negative to them-> there's many antibodies they can check for. many times they miss the positive, or dont test for enough. my doctors are ALWAYS missing something in my results...
  5. i AGREE. i did not like betty crockers gluten-free cake mix at all. the brownies were do-able. from my understanding- i think people use Pamela's pancake flour for everything including cake- but i could be wrong. i made her vanilla cake once- DELISH, i made her choco cake 2x... 1x it was SUPERB, and the 2nd time i messed it up- dont know why? also...
  6. yep. always a good 20-30lbs lighter when gluten free
  7. i agree with above poster- especially if you have Celiac or Gluten Intolerance-> thyroid problems are common. get your antibodies tested, and also a full thyroid panel- and get copies of the results yourself. a lot of doctors are relying on the OLD range- which is not accurate. ie: you could have Hashimoto's with a TSH of 4.5, be within range- but really...
  8. im sorry- but u know what- this guy needs to be reported. somehow- this has to be in the open. just like if a doctor did something grossly negligent-
  9. wowwwwwwww... i am going to sound unchristian big time in a sec... but his post was so reckless and evil, that i almost hope he has silent celiac that was really really mean, i know, Lord forgive me... but i am so ENRAGED
  10. before i ever knew about gluten and went 100% gluten free, i first experienced this when i first went on the Atkins Diet 12 years ago. i went hardcore- NO grains or starches, no sugar, even no fruit for months. i was starved & tired for about 3 days... then it went away and i started to feel fantastic. off and on over the years, i went back and forth...
  11. of course they dont always have to be linked- but it is SO so so common for one to have both celiac and Hashimoto's- really really common... and it sounds like your sil finally has a good doctor- to connect the dots and want to test for celiac. she absolutely should- the doc could be wrong OR he could be right, and then maybe your sil can get better instead...
  12. still trying to figure it all out myself-> sometimes the iceberg & romaine can have too many fructans if you have a fructose "malabsorption" thing like i do. or you could have a fructose/fructan issue- where u can handle a small quantity, but a big salad with all the culprits- and then it just goes over the edge. idk if that made sense, im tired...
  13. no- you are absolutely correct-> many many docs will NOT diagnose u without the biopsy! for sure. but there's no reason why you cant have the celiac blood panel. i dont think they should be allowed to deny u that. this is a free country. maybe you're afraid of an endoscopic procedure and just want to get an idea via blood test, u know?? my Pcp did my...
  14. good luck to u! i think it's ridiculous- especially since u said u were only bringing in the gluten free cake (or cupcakes?). yes- i know its totally commonplace for a restaurant to not allow u to bring in your own food- but ive always experienced them being ok with bringing in your own cake- and this is YEARS before i followed a special diet. i cant even...
  15. i would ASSUME that 200 is not enough. now- im only ASSUMING, cause my doc didnt tell me a damn thing... ive had to go about this on my own for now. ive been reading advice from members on here, and the D3 supplement i bought from the doctor i whole heartedly respect comes in servings of 2000 iu per capsule. i think the bottle said take 1 or 2 per day. i...
  16. i tried redbridge- and it was AWFUL... i wanted to spit it out. so far, ive only liked gluten free cider.
  17. what did the previous doc do to put your Grave's into remission?? im very curious. i have both right now and am nervous as to how i get better. they're medicating me now for the Hashi's. looking at the antibodies-> im Hashi dominant, but i do have some hyper symptoms too. sometimes it's worse since starting meds. my hyper symptoms got really bad when i...
  18. yes i read that Soy especially aggravates Grave's antibodies. so i realized that i need to avoid it- but it's almost impossible :/ seriously- soy & corn are in EVERYTHING ok, for the most part i can totally avoid soy- but it still sneaks in - and my gluten free chipotle they use soybean oil oh, and i wanted to tell u- i recently bought "Enjoy...
  19. i understand that many docs will not diagnose without a biopsy- BUT- there is no reason that a doc should withhold your freedom to a simple blood test- you most definitely can get a blood test before a biopsy- that's just ridiculous. and if they cant help u- find a doc who will. both me and my father have had the panel without the biopsy. and also make...
  20. oh i am DEFINITELY gonna have to try these- THANKU!
  21. i can relate BIG TIME. i have more energy now that im on meds for my thyroid.. but its still not quite there- between the fatigue & anxiety, and then the intestinal pain from additional food intolerances: i spend way too much time confined to my home or bathroom... the remaining energy i have is totally spent at my crappy job (im a massage therapist-...
  22. i had it in my teens, and thruout my 20s. it just looked like i had a sunburn from cheek across the nose to the other cheek. my GP noticed it when i was 14? and she told my mom that it looked like the rash those with lupus get- so then i wound up going to a Rheumatologist & Dermatologist for 2 years. just got the same stupid blood tests & biopsies...
  23. ya, i suffer from this- it's a REAL PAIN IN THE A... exactly! shouldn't gluten be enough :/ what's tricky with this is that it's kind of trial and error with each food item- and like mack the knife said- with quantity as well. also- if you research online- you're gonna see a different list of foods everytime.. tho every list has the biggest culprits...
  24. ya, in my honest opinion- with the positive DGP, DQ2, symptoms, and relief on diet-> i would presume she is a celiac, and that you're catching it before it's bad enough to score positive on all the tests. the EMA test is a difficult one to do in the lab- it is subject to human error and could easily be a false negative.
  25. i would advise to ALWAYS request copies of all results- in my experience-> 90% of the time- they neglect to tell me something important, or they dont examine the results to fully understand or diagnose.
