i get painful/trapped gas SO freakin easily... before i knew about Gluten Intolerance.... and after i went gluten free... i WISH removing gluten was enough for me- but unfortunately i have SO MANY additional intolerances suffering right now- i think i overdid it with the greens & banana smoothie today (i have fructose/fructans issues)... and then...

ARCHIVED So, You Think You're Gluten Free?
cassP replied to bridgeofsighs's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
a lot of members on here do not like that guy or his site.... now i dont know if what he's saying is true. BUT i DO know that some of us feel better grain free or mostly grain free.... or free from certain grains. i think to some extent- his ideas may be true for some of us.. i for example get gluten symptoms from corn products... but others on here.... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Or Gluten Sensitivity?
cassP replied to anna34's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
if you test yourself again after experiment with the gluten free diet- your results may be innacurate and falsly low & negative. like stated above- the ttg is only one test. my ttg was only a 7... and my antigliadin was solid negative. but my ema was positive. docs kind of left me hanging too.... i went on and off gluten for 2 more years... because like... -
yes- i got "Sovereign Silver" first aid ointment from whole foods... it immediately stopped the itch on my DH. good luck to you

ARCHIVED Should I Go Straight To A Specialist? / Help Me Find One Please.
cassP replied to randomperson's topic in Doctors
my PCP did my 1st Celiac panel. i HAVE had problems with her of course- BUT i had been complaining of stomach issues for years- and when i asked her to be tested for Celiac- she said "ok". (which was nice for a change, not to have to beg like i have for other things). my PCP ran a pretty complete panel too! and she even ran the Endomysial Antibody test... -
ARCHIVED Food Intolerance/cocoa Pulse Testing
cassP replied to joej1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
ooooohhh- this sounds very interesting. i didnt know there was a theory already on "pulse testing".. all i know is that in the past 6 months- ive become aware of my heart rate going crazy after eating. i used to think that it was from overeating- and then my system was working hard.. cause it seems to mildly elevate a lot- after a big meal. the first time... -

ARCHIVED Thryoid Question
cassP replied to nuttmegs17's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
um, i dont know how to break up the quote anyways- YES- i would love for all our docs to read these posts- they have no idea sometimes... and your tests: Lipid Panel= Cholesterol (should be HDL, LDL, and total #) and whatever else your lab includes TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. i forget- either your pituitary or hypothalamus makes this- and... -
that looks YUMMMM.. and you adding cream cheese to the cake is a genius idea! i wonder if it would taste okay if i skipped the gelatin?? i dont like the idea of gelatin at all... ya- im gonna have to make this

hey- i dont have any advice on King Arthur's products... & ive never had SS urine but i have had UTIs & Yeast Infections-> and they were much more common when i was consuming gluten. havent had anything since going gluten-free. also-> Interstitial Cystitis is common in people with Autoimmune Disease in their family- and i swear towards...

ARCHIVED Please Help....
cassP replied to modiddly16's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i dont have any advice- as i did not get the endoscopy- or have the UPPER abdominal rumbling and pain that you have. im assuming its from vomiting, getting an endo, and being sensitive or having muscle spasms. if it makes you feel any better-> i was in discomfort for about 5 days after my colonoscopy. my twilight was fantastic.. and procedure smooth... -
ARCHIVED Help With Lab Results
cassP replied to PennyS's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ok, so your doc ran all but one test really. your Iga serum at 182 shows your immune system is working properly and making enough Iga- so your Antigliadin test and Tissue Transglutamase Iga tests should be accurate (but he only ran your antigliadin- he did not run your TTG) your Endomysial is negative but that test is easy to mess up in the lab. you... -

ARCHIVED Thryoid Question
cassP replied to nuttmegs17's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
you need to be finding a really good openminded Endo. even tho mine is kind of frustrating me right now- she's pretty good- and i asked for my best friend- what she would do with a patient that had a "normal" TSH but a lot of symptoms- she said, she would then test for the antibodies (which u did)- and then consider meds. also- you are not a normal text... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have Ra Or Myositis, Lupus
cassP replied to shayre's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
generally when people say "grain free", i assume that's all the starches including rice. that being said- for me anyways, not all grains are created equal. i seem to be ok with moderate amounts of rice products (and oat actually-but proceed with caution)... but corn kills me, and even potato starch & tapioca starch are crappy. your "identifiable"... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Profile Confusion
cassP replied to rebecca10112's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
your rashes could be Dermatitis Herpetiformis- a skin rash associated with Celiac-> and Allergies are seperate from Intolerance & Autoimmune Disease. so you could get these DH rashes and still have ZERO allergies to wheat -
ARCHIVED Thryoid Question
cassP replied to nuttmegs17's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
WAIT WAIT Wait a second... you've already been dx with Grave's in the past????? does your current doc or Endo know this?? and im sorry- but your Hashimoto's antibodies are a solid positive- you need to find an endo who will treat you even tho your TSH is "normal" AND you need a good endo who understands the complexity of your situation- i also think... -
ARCHIVED Thryoid Question

thanku! its all so confusing- and since our docs dont always do a great job helping us- we often have to learn all of this ourselves -
ARCHIVED What Brand Of gluten-free Oats Do People React To?
cassP replied to shayre's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i personally have been fine with both brands you mentioned (udi's gluten-free oat granola, and glutenfreeda oatmeal). so, i honestly think they're certifiably gluten free-> if they bother you- then your body may be reacting to the oat proteins themselves. i totally react to corn- similar in the way i do to wheat gluten. unfortunately corn is in EVERYTHING... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis
cassP replied to vegan lisa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i just got mine at whole foods... i got the ionized silver (not colloidal) ointment, and it's called: "Sovereign Silver". i THOUGHT since people took Dapsone (antibiotic/antiinflammatory) that silver might do the same thing- it helped in my situation. -
ARCHIVED Doctors & Getting Diagnosed
cassP replied to Kat70R's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hi Kat! please also get your thyroid tested- you're tired, cold, and have thin/dry hair? plus you think you may have celiac- they're so commonly linked. try not to work yourself up and breathe- be confident. YES- we all have similar frustrations with docs... i still sometimes struggle with mine- you just have to stand your ground. i first asked... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have Ra Or Myositis, Lupus
cassP replied to shayre's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
omg- you have my full sympathy & compassion.. most of us only have to deal with 1-3 autoimmune diseases- and yours sound challenging. i DO consider myself very lucky that i dont have Lupus or RA i have Celiac, Hashimoto's, and Grave's. and they're really not bad at all compared to others. but the "push-pull" im getting with both thyroid diseases can... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis
cassP replied to vegan lisa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
sounds EXACTLY like DH. i guess it's up to you how bad you want the diagnosis. i knew mine were DH.. they came 3 weeks after i quit gluten, and they took 4 months to go away. and yes, you're right-> not every dermatologist is gonna even know what they are. i wish i had taken a pic of mine.. for records. i did not need a biopsy to prove it- i know they... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Help With Blood Test Results?
cassP replied to Cara in Boston's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
omg... 1st off-> those December numbers are completely positive- TTG is positive & Antigliadin is positive AND the boy has a whole host of gluten related symptoms. now, between this dec. test, and your G.I.'s test did you take your son off gluten? or go gluten lite??? because the GI came back with a NORMAL ttg, and NEgative EMA... but they did not... -
ARCHIVED Skin- Worse Before Better?
cassP replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
what you're describing sounds exactly like DH... little bumps/blisters with clear liquid coming out when squeezed. i have some bumps on my forearms that come and go... but i had a small patch on my stomach that didnt even show up untill i went gluten free!! they came 3 weeks after i went gluten-free.. and they stayed for about 4 months.
