  1. Anyone reccomend a good walnut butter? Peanuts are off the list, and I don't like soy nut or sun butter. Thanks
  2. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm from NC too but, when I googled the gluten-free info. I cam up blank for Chapel Hill.
  3. I can't find anything other than Carraba's and Outback in this area. My son is attending a class at UNC-Chapel Hill next week and I would like to try something new! Anyone? Thanks-
  4. Trader Joe's is your best bet for Fage but, I have seen it at Loew's foods and Harris Teeter. (in NC) I think it is branching out a bit since, I had never seen it in a carried in a "regular" grocery store before yesterday. I think your family will like greek yogurt, it is thicker and creamier than say, Yoplait. I have tried a few other greek yogurt brands...
  5. A great deal of my symptoms cleared up around month 6. I also was at the leaky gut stage. Although you never know-with all of your core concentration, I'm sure you have more muscle control in that area then most of us, maybe that will help mask the bloating a little. I think everyone is different but, if you give your body a chance to heal, I think you will...
  6. The Soy Joy people were giving out free samples of their bars this year at the Taste. I was given two bars; one strawberry and the other choc. chip/peanut butter. I liked the strawberry better-they use fruit as a base in the "cookie/bar" and I liked the strawberry texture. The bars have a big gluten-free label on them but, I haven't found them in any stores...
  7. I am in Charlotte, NC but, my local healthfood store-Earthfare-gives classes once a month. I would check our some of your local health food stores.
  8. I am currently visiting my parents in the Chicago area and I went to church with them. Their church is a very traditional Episcopal church in the Arlington Heights suburb of Chicago. I viewed the bulletin and saw that gluten-free wafers were available upon request! Haven't tried them yet, I will next Sunday-I'll let everyone know! What a great step forward...
  9. I think the 1st 3 months are the hardest. You are getting used to what you can and can't have. My experienced was feeling less tired at about 6 months.
  10. I look like I have fake nails! All ten! I think my body is starting to absorb some of the nutrients it was lacking all of these years! It is a miracle! My son even noticed how nice my nails look. I know it is a superficial thing but, I grasp all the positives I can. I guess I'll have to go get a fancy manicure now! Anyone else having the positive side...
  11. Yep-my HP med went from 10 mg to 5 mg and I'm going friday to be re-tested again. Maybe they'll take me off of it altogether!
  12. I also go to five guys and have not had a problem but, could they at least give you a paper plate! I can't stand trying to cut up my burger on tin foil, it gives me a urpy feeling of getting tin foil in my food. I always think abut bitting down on the foil with my fillings-like nails on a blackboard! I wrote the company and they will not offer plates....
  13. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I have not been gluten-free as long as you-I'm at 1 1/2 yrs. but I too have recently had a similar experience. I was using my own stand-by's and not reading all of the labels yet again, and as luck would have it-some of the formula's had changed. I also have found I need to do an elimination diet for nuts. I never had...
  14. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they have a gluten-free Mac N'Cheese that is $1.88 a box. It has a thinner sauce than Annie's but, I alway add my own cheese, meat, and veggies anyway. It is nice to have an easy box meal at your fingertips. Have you tried the frozen Mac N' Cheese by Amy. I like it but, look on the back at the fat content! I can't make...
  15. Thanks-I printed it out and put it in my gluten-free notebook I keep in my trunk. I know that's an anal thing to do-but it has saved me more than once!
  16. I was in Earthfare today and this great retired pharmacist and I were talking about celiac and he asked if I was taking a probiotic, and of course I am. He then suggested, since I'm still having issues that I might want to look into a suppliment for adrenal support. He suggested Holy Basil by Nature Made, it is gluten free. He didn't seem like the saleman...
  17. Yes, the biopsy. I hope my dr. says that I don't need it. I really am feeling good after 1 1/2 years and don't want to have it now. I wish I had done it right away, at the beginning. I honestly thought, as many of us do, that positive results through a diet change are enough to confirm intolerance. If you go 6 weeks-did he tell you the minimum you have...
  18. Please, let us all know how it went. I went to the dr. today, I've been off gluten for 1 1/2 yrs. and now since I have other familial complications, she wants to get the confirmation via the endoscopy. How long did you have to put gluten back into your diet to do the test? How much do you have to have each day? I really don't want to eat gluten again and...
  19. My mom just sent me info. on the Publix on Longboat Key. Sounds awesome. Maybe all he Publix are headed to a more gluten-free inventory?! Thanks for posting it-it will definately help others traveling in the south. Unfortunely, NC is not far south enough to have one.
  20. Where have I been?! I have missed out on the risotto revolution, it seems! Thanks for all of your wonderful ideas!
  21. Go to meal is chicken and salsa rice. I get the "cheater chicken" from Costco and have it for dinner one night and this is what I do with the leftovers; Cook 1 c. rice with 2 cups chicken stock, cover low for 20. min. Add one cup salsa, let absorb into rice. (as best as it will) Tear up chicken pieces, put in pot and heat thru, & stir This...
  22. I was just at a restaurant and the waiter suggested the risotto since I couldn't have the pasta, etc. I didn't get it but, it started me thinking. Do any of you make it? Recipes? What brands do you use?
  23. Thai Kitchen is often on sale at CVS down here-thy Walgreens too. I survived on Ramon noodles in college and this is as close to the gluten-free equivilent that I've found. Good luck-it does get easier!
  24. Welcome! It sure is hard to navigate your symptoms when so many of ours are sometimes similar but, different for each of us. Do you get a gurgling in your stomach immediately after eating? That is how I know I have ingested something that won't agree with me later. What are you eating in the a.m.? Maybe that will tell you something since you do not...
  25. Richard-has the pronamel helped you at all? I am interested in trying to save the few teeth I have left!
