  1. Me too. Doctors should be required to pass continuing education exams to continue to practice. Some of them only know what they learned in medical school and things change.
  2. Being around others eating gluten can be tough on super sensitives. I know that my son got quite sick one time at school. They had extra sandwiches and were handing them out in the lunchroom. They handed some out over his head and probably got some on him somehow. We had worked out a protocol that worked for him in the lunch room under most circumstances...
  3. I hope that it goes well. I do know super sensitives who wear masks when they go into unsafe environments. I would feel so strange, but they report that it isn't that bad. My personal way of dealing with it is to avoid unsafe situations as much as possible. When it isn't possible, I take my chances. It's been a good while now since I have had a mystery...
  4. The admin posted this a little while ago: https://www.celiac.com/articles/23214/1/Can-Bifidobacterium-infantis-Natren-Life-Start-Strain-Help-Active-Celiac-Disease/Page1.html It talks about a study of celiacs who took the organism that is in Align, but in the probiotic Natren LifeStart 2. There were only 22 in the study, and 10 took the placebo. There...
  5. My joints were huge when I was diagnosed. I had given up wearing rings because I was afraid that I would have to cut them off (the rings, not the fingers). It took some time gluten free for them to go down, but now I am wearing rings again. When I get into accidental gluten they go back to being big and painful. It might take you some more time, or...
  6. I'm guessing that the reason you didn't feel all the way better while gluten free was that you were still eating gluten somewhere. There has been a lot of progress there too in the last 10 years. I hope that you get your life back.
  7. Maybe this could be the problem. I looked at the USP food fraud database: Open Original Shared Link They found barley, rye, soybeans, grain, malt, and corn in coffee. I drink coffee, and I am super sensitive. I stick with one brand, and I buy it whole and check through it so that I'm sure I'm getting pure coffee.
  8. I tried it and reacted. From their website, it looks like it is grown and processed there on site, without possibility for exposure to wheat by rail, truck or storage. It might be better than the one that you are using. You may be less sensitive than I and find that you don't react to it. I think that it is the best rice that I have come across so far...
  9. When I come here I click on New Content and I think that many others do the same. If you are asking a question pertaining to super sensitivity, it is a good idea to put it in the body of the post too. Typical celiacs have no problems with the smell of gluten. Many super sensitives have reported issues. It may just be because when you smell it, it is...
  10. Do you react to Tinkyada because you are super sensitive or because you have other food intolerances? If it is super sensitivity, you may not be able to find one. I wasn't. I can't even find a rice. I am extremely sensitive however.
  11. Hippocratic Oath "I will Open Original Shared Link regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and Open Original Shared Link to anyone."
  12. Wegmans, it's a store brand and they aren't very widespread.
  13. Does the tea shop also serve cakes and biscuits? Cross contamination from that is a likely source of your problems.
  14. I found that gluten makes any PMS type symptoms worse. I also had issues with very heavy periods on gluten. Depending on your age, it could be peri menopause. Celiac can cause early menopause. I heard that in a recent webinar you can access here: Open Original Shared Link I'm really sorry that you had to suffer through a gluten challenge. Whatever...
  15. I would keep looking for chocolate. It could easily be some sort of contamination. Chocolate is too good to give up. Just try one at a time next time, and start with just a little bit so you don't get so sick. That being said, I couldn't find one myself, but I am extremely sensitive. I don't think that I react to chocolate, just cc since my reactions...
  16. I'm doing much better. My son and I are both extremely sensitive. We try to do mainly home grown because that eliminates a lot of the uncertainties involved with getting food from elsewhere. I'm not saying that we react to everything. It is just that when we react, we can't tell what it is from without spending months on elimination challenge diets sometimes...
  17. Could be both. If you do a search of this forum you will find that quite a few have reported problems with chex cereal too. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/59857-i-am-also-having-problems-with-gluten-free-chex/page-3?hl=%2Bchex#entry853440
  18. I was mad at him for his 20 ppm recommendation, but maybe I can forgive him now. LOL
  19. Whoops, thank you so much. I must have forgotten to link it. I'm editing the OP to make it easier for others to follow. Sorry if that makes your post look weird. Some of the things in the gluten contamination elimination diet I have found to contain some contamination and I need to carefully source them to not react. I think that with further elimination...
  20. Jane Anderson writes about a new Fasano study. There is a link to the study in the article. Some people with refractory celiac disease responded to a diet designed to limit trace gluten contamination. Open Original Shared Link It is nice to see super sensitive celiacs acknowledged by Fasano. Edited to add article link. Sorry I forgot it.
  21. I think the endoscopy caused some flare up for about a week here too. The pediatrician thought that likely.
  22. Some have to be more gluten free than others. I am one of those who has to be very gluten free. Let me tell you that the problems associated with the diet are nothing compared to the improved health that has resulted from them. Don't be discouraged. The diagnosis was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

    ARCHIVED Honey

Kareng, my comment wasn't a reflection on you at all. I wanted people who didn't notice that this was the super sensitive section to know that they don't have to worry about honey. It is so easy to click on new topics and not notice that you are in the super sensitive section.
  24. A hot water bottle on the stomach can be soothing. It takes me couple of days to feel OK and more like 2 weeks to get back to 100%. I hope he feels better soon.
