  1. Thank you too Peter. Kareng already answered above. Maybe I'm not the only one with brain fog...
  2. Interesting that you feel fine today (yesterday). I think that it would be worth it to head to the farmer's market and get some fresh off the tree apples to try. That worked for me and was better than having to give up apples completely. If I had given up on every food I reacted to, rather than looking for a source of the food to which I didn't react,...
  3. How I do rotation dieting to determine cc is to keep a really regular diet. Then if I have enough foods, I will eliminate them one at a time, one per week. It can take that long to notice an improvement. If don't have enough foods to want to eliminate anything, then I eat a large amount of one food to see if things get worse. It takes a long time, but...
  4. Thank you Kareng. I must have a worse case of brain fog than I thought. When I looked again I don't see how I could have missed it.
  5. I read that story, and I couldn't see where he had celiac disease. Anyone want to help me with that?
  6. I seem to react to that coating. I reacted to the organic apples I tried as well. I found a local apple farmer who doesn't use any coatings. He has a cold storage facility and sells apples for about 6 months of the year. I buy lots of apples from him and make apple sauce every week to save for the 6 months when his are not available. I do similar things...
  7. Definitely have a work up to see if it is unrelated. If celiac, did you make any changes to your diet recently? You say you prepare your food at home. It is produce and unprocessed meats? If eating products, could processing have changed in any of them to add cc chances? Do you eat gluten-free grains? There have been studies showing that they can have...
  8. That jumped out at me too. Apparently they are getting rid of science and medical journalists and having general journalists report on everything. It would be great if this works, not for people to indulge, but for those who suffer from constant contamination problems.
  9. Definitely have your doc check for anything serious. I know I get stomach pain from gluten contamination so you might want to check for that. Some of us are more sensitive to that than others. It would help you to keep a food/symptom journal to look for connections with cc or other food intolerances. I hope that you feel better soon.
  10. I have found contamination to be a real issue. I have to go to crazy extremes to avoid it, but when I do all is well. I go from a crazy person who can barely see and hardly walk but still has to constantly run to the bathroom, and often doesn't make it in time, to a highly functioning normal person.
  11. I knew about Thailand, but not the Philippines. I guess they do grow some wheat there: Open Original Shared Link I guess hardly any as this source, a USDA report dated 3/2013, Open Original Shared Link says that there is no commercial production of wheat, barley or oats in the Philippines. Thanks
  12. I got the IBS diagnosis about 30 years before the celiac diagnosis. It was an incorrect diagnosis. Being gluten-free cleared up the IBS symptoms.
  13. When I get a big radish harvest I stir fry the greens and roots, cut up and then dehydrate or freeze. They are nice to have in the winter. I've got a big batch in the dehydrator right now along with celeriac, planted last fall overwintered under garden fleece, and chocolate mint. I agree with Irish, it's a lot nicer to garden without pesky glutening...
  14. I've been growing chocolate mint for a couple of years now and it hasn't taken over yet. I think the hybrids might be less invasive? My radishes have started bolting so I'm going to have a big harvest today.
  15. I remember you and am sorry for your loss. My mother died at 47 from what I think could have been due to undiagnosed celiac disease. She had many of the symptoms and it is likely genetically since I am super sensitive. It wasn't from blood clots though. I think that they are linked to smoking.Open Original Shared Link
  16. I had problems with a lot of foods too and people suggested other food intolerances and that cross reacting stuff. What I found was that a certain food item from one source would make me sick, and then if I got it somewhere else, it wouldn't. I figured out that I was reacting to low levels of gluten contamination. My GI told me how some celiacs react to...
  17. I tried to sign but the petition was closed.
  18. I'm sorry that your child is sick. My son vomits from gluten. He doesn't generally vomit right after eating it though. He usually is sick in the morning and then improves thought the day and then would be sick again the next morning. He was diagnosed at age 10.
  19. Yes, I do have problems with gluten-free products. Some of us are sensitive to lower gluten levels than others. Sensitivity levels seem to vary even among those who call themselves super sensitive celiacs. Just because most celiacs can eat something doesn't mean that all celiacs can eat that thing. The food/symptom journal and elimination/challenge...
  20. It depends on how sensitive you are. Pots and pans that aren't scratched up should clean up in the dishwasher. What are you eating? Do you have gluten in the house that could be causing cc? It can take a couple of weeks for me to heal from a glutening with my safe diet. Could you be healing from an earlier mistake?
  21. I actually came on this thread to lament about planting my tomatoes too early. We had a cold snap and the leaves are brown and while some have new growth, I think that some will need to be replaced. Now I won't have my special varieties and I'll have to plant whatever is available at the garden center.
  22. Are you sure it is birds? I read a story about someone who put out lots of bird seed to keep the birds from eating her vegetables and it ended up being rats. I know birds eat strawberries. I have seen them do that, but not vegetables, and especially not vegetable plants. It is good to have birds in the vegetable garden because they will eat the bugs that...
  23. How do you know no cc? I remember reading about someone on this forum finding a piece of wheat in their rice. Anyone remember who it was? Could you be super sensitive? I am super sensitive and I sort and wash my grains or I also have loose poops. I also need to avoid produce grown with wheat straw. Of course, it could be something else, but it could...
  24. She made a difference here and will be missed.
  25. This was a small bar with only one bartender so they didn't have the problem of heavy traffic. I just wish that I had known that it might be a problem before it made me sick.
