  1. I remember feeling like you do. I think that it made things worse when I went to support group meetings and saw all the other celiacs there with their spouses. Both parents were there when it was their children. In our case it was me and our child and still my spouse showed no interest. Despite the diagnosis being direct from the doctor, my husband wouldn...
  2. This is totally anecdotal, but maybe it can put your mind at rest. I remember years ago a friend said that she had her period for 30 days straight as a regular non celiac perimenopause thing. Unexplained bleeding should always be checked out according to my gyno, but maybe it's not that unusual.
  3. If you do a google search you will find discussion of a connection between hormones and celiac disease. There seems to have been more done with male hormones, but maybe you can find enough to convince your doctor that they could be a connection. The food/symptom journal technique lets me know when and why I get cc'ed, but I have some pretty obvious symptoms...
  4. I found out the hard way that when one is sensitive to extremely low levels of gluten cross contamination, eating out can be very challenging. After awhile I decided that it wasn't worth the risk. It is something that we each need to decide for ourselves and it depends on level of sensitivity, severity of symptoms, and desire. I already enjoyed cooking...
  5. The timing didn't work out that way for me so I didn't even think about it, but I don't think that it is relevant, unless you only use pads. Even if it is a problem, you should at least be able to get the endoscopy done so that you can get your results.
  6. I read about your recent glutening in another thread. I get to feeling these same feelings that you are expressing when I am glutened. Life will seem much more hopeful when you get over it (the glutening). Hang in there.
  7. My goodness you have had it rough. Are the hot flashes still going on?
  8. I got visual aura migraines with no pain regularly for about 30 years before diagnosis. They were as described in this Mayo Clinic site and video: Open Original Shared Link Since diagnosis almost 6 years ago, I've had one and that was after a long period of trace glutening. It took me quite awhile to figure out the source of the gluten with elimination...
  9. I think that it is a good idea to check for other possibilities like you are doing. You might also want to keep a food/symptom journal. It is possible to be this sensitive. There is a subset of celiacs who react to gluten contamination in packaged foods. I am one of them. There has recently been a study published about celiacs who need a special...
  10. I had the same problem. Thank goodness it doesn't happen anymore after nearly 6 years gluten free. Early in the diagnosis when my husband would leave gluteny crumbs lying around, my reaction was not good for our marriage! Maybe knowing it will soon be gone will help you cope a tiny bit. Good luck.
  11. In my case, when my glutening symptoms don't go away it is because I am still eating gluten. Could that be a possibility? Could it be that something in your diet has changed? It could be a change that you made, or a change that one of your food suppliers has made. To figure it out, what I do is eliminate suspect things until I come up with the right one...
  12. You asked me which ones I reacted to, and it's a long list. I have a terrible time with so delicious, coconut oil, Glutino produces, and many supplements. My daughter reacted to Applegate hot dogs so I didn't even try them as she is a lot less sensitive than I am. Eden organic millet I did better with when I washed it well. If I were to pick the most...
  13. This link talks about celiac reactions to airborne gluten: Open Original Shared Link There were 2 farmers who reacted to feeding their cattle grain from the dust particles. It is conceivable the there are dust particles of the bread that you pass around the church. It is also conceivable that it is psychological. Our noses are connected to our stomachs...
  14. Thanks for the description of a hot flash. I guess I haven't gotten one yet. What do you mean you didn't get them until the end? Does that mean after you haven't had a period for one year? How long did they continue?
  15. Hi. I experienced ongoing glutening symptoms despite a gluten free diet at first as well, despite an initial significant improvement. Then my GI doctor told me that some celiacs are more sensitive to trace contamination than others and can even have problems with foods labelled as gluten free. Since then there has been a study published of this fraction...
  16. I am going through perimenopause right now and I'm not sure that I am having any symptoms. I'm maybe getting hot flashes when I drink coffee, but it's been hot here and when the house is 82 and your drinking coffee, I would think it normal to get a bit hot, so I'm not sure. Some of the symptoms you mention sound like ones I get from trace gluten exposure...
  17. I also don't see how eating unprocessed foods is depriving yourself. Do you ever watch master cooking shows on T.V.? Are they going on about opening cans and frozen boxes of food? No, they go on about cooking with the freshest ingredients available. Edited to say: I looked back and can't even see the post I was replying to. I'm just agreeing with...
  18. We have enough problems being taken seriously without uneducated people thinking that they know more about our medical condition than our doctors and writing about it. Why did Slate give this guy a platform?
  19. I've also had problems with farm raised seafood which I attributed to the wheat in their feed. I do well with wild caught. I am in the super sensitive category.
  20. In my opinion, that site does not provide scientifically accurate information. I have done some reading on it. I looked up and read references that were given to support certain points, such as corn containing gluten, and the references did not support the point that they were being used for. For example, corn was used as the control, like when you give...
  21. One of my glutening symptoms is uncontrollable diarrhea. It is what it is named. By the time you know it is coming there is no time to get to the toilet, even if it is close by. Could that be it?
  22. I do get this problem associated with accidental gluten intake. I don't see it as a reliable indicator though.
  23. The studies I saw: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link were for Bifidobacterium infantis 35624 I suggest a probiotic containing that which include Align and Natren life start.
  24. It sounds like your pharmacist is really on top of things. Good for you for having explained it so carefully to him. Thank you for the warning. My son will be having to take some medication for surgery soon and this information should help me to keep him safer. He is extremely sensitive.
  25. I wonder if that was why they gave you such a hard time about letting you. My daughter found an apartment a lot cheaper than the dorms too.
