  1. If I eat something with low level contamination for several days, it can take a week or even longer before I notice that it is bothering me. That's why I try to only add one new thing per week.
  2. I am sorry that your family is being difficult. Keep out of the kitchen if it makes you sick. They can clean up their own messes. You can set up your own kitchen somewhere with a dorm fridge, microwave and toaster oven. I stayed sick a long time waiting for my family to get on board. They did eventually, but meanwhile I stayed sick.
  3. Now, that's an idea!
  4. That seemed to be a problem for us too. I bought a bucket of corn to grind myself and found several grains of wheat in it. I was able to tolerate it if I removed that and washed the remaining corn before grinding.
  5. This makes life difficult. I know of people who wear masks when they go out. Maybe that would help you too?
  6. Could there have been flour in the air?
  7. I have also seemed to get sensitive to lower amounts of gluten as time goes on. I've also had problems with some spices. I also can't tell very well if I'm glutened until the day after I eat the contaminated item. You are new to this and it takes awhile to figure it all out. Keeping a food/symptoms journal is very helpful. Good luck.
  8. I got a portable microwave. You can carry it to an outlet in a rest area. I also have a cooler which plugs into the car. They are both handy on trips.
  9. I have had some success with washing, but I only do that when I can't find a safer source of food. Nuts Online has wheat in their facility too. They process their gluten free nuts on different equipment, but the same facility. At least that's what they told me last time I checked. I have also had more success with nuts bought in the shell, but it is time...
  10. Thank you for clearing that up. Too bad, I had problems with organic sweet potatoes and I was hoping I might do O.K. with conventional. I'm growing my own this year and we'll see if it was something used in cultivation or not.
  11. I lost many years due to this condition. I've got a job now, but it isn't optimal and I'm looking for a better one. It is going to be a long road. I'm so glad to have finally been diagnosed.
  12. Yeah! I'm not quite clear. Are you saying that the organic sweet potatoes bothered you and the conventionally grown sweet potatoes didn't? I don't think that I have tried that recently and maybe I should.
  13. Hi! I have been feeling well. You've been helping me out a lot on another forum, and was curious to know more about you. Thanks for all your help!

  14. Could you be a super sensitive? I didn't get fully better until I went on a whole foods diet.
  15. I've come across him too. He's a chiropractor and nutritionist. I couldn't find any actual published studies which supported his claims. It shouts scam to me too. Open Original Shared Link
  16. I don't think that most people continue to have problems. It's just that if you do have problems you seek out places like this to try to figure out what is going on.

I've never tried it. I did try a tequila with poor results. Let me know if you find one.
  18. Oh, I hope I didn't give the impression that I was doubting that you had figured out your problem. I didn't mean to. It was good that you posted about it in case someone else has it and is unaware. I just didn't want to discount low levels of gluten in all cases.
  19. If you decide to try oats, try a small amount the first time. I am sensitive to oats and I found out by having half a bowl the first time. I got very sick and didn't feel right again for 2 months.
  20. In my late 40's my vision went from 20:40 to 20:20 after diagnosis and the gluten free diet. I can't see with my glasses anymore. I stopped needing glasses for reading, though as I age further I need them again, but just regular readers, not prescription readers. My ophthalmologist was unable to explain it. Prior to that she kept giving me all sorts of...
  21. For the few of us that continue to have problems gluten free there are so many possibilities to consider. Let's not forget that low levels of gluten, even below 5 ppm, do cause problems for some of us. At least, that it what has allowed my son and I to recover. Plus, the possibility of low levels bothering you is very easy to check, just eat only produce...
  22. What brand of probiotics was it? Could there be cc problems?
  23. The GFCO certification rules out chances of cc over 10 ppm gluten which is the sensitivity of the test used. Zero chances of cc cannot be obtained because there is not test which has that sensitivity. The most sensitive test that I am aware of has a sensitivity of 3 ppm gluten. I don't know if there are any facilities which use it.
  24. How about trying to cut out the cereal for a week and see what happens? Those items would give me major symptoms.
