  1. I am very sensitive and I have had all sorts of problems with tea. I finally switched to homegrown. Even my daughter, who isn't nearly as sensitive, had problems, but that is because she was drinking 10 cups or so a day. Fortunately she likes lavender tea and we already had a lavender plant in the garden. You only need a tiny bit so the few flowers I...
  2. I don't know what your gluten free diet is like. You may be one who reacts to the allowable amounts. Have you tried a diet of produce and unprocessed meat? If it is DH, the blisters come from gluten antibodies and iodine. It won't flare up from other food intolerances.
  3. That site has all sorts of misinformation on it. I wouldn't trust it either. I don't think that genes responsible for other grain intolerances have been identified. I don't think that it has been shown to be genetic.
  4. Boy, you are a grouch! I think that this answer doesn't refer to things like that.
  5. At the bottom of the poll you can click on "current results" to get the current results. I am surprised by the percentage of whole foods eaters. Maybe it has something to do with Jestgar's comment.
  6. I'll second the only add one thing per week advice. I know it's hard to go without and I don't always follow that rule either. You can eat as much of what you are eating as you like, but who wants to eat 10 bananas? I am crazy sensitive, but I think I have been glutened by chicken broth and even to a lesser extent, by chicken. I had a pasture fed chicken...
  7. My dental enamel was bad too. I had teeth that needed to be filled as soon as they came in. I wasn't diagnosed until well into adulthood and both sets of teeth are bad. My kids were diagnosed after their adult teeth came in, but they only have 1 and 2 cavities as teenagers. I have a whole mouthful as well as a crown. I hope your daughter's adult teeth...
  8. I seemed to keep getting more sensitive for about 3 years. Thankfully I haven't developed any other intolerances that I know of.
  9. I'm in zone 6 and I covered one of my gardens with garden fabric. I used plumbing pipes to make a structure which is standing up to the snow. It has gotten to 2 degrees yet I am still harvesting cole crops, turnips, rutabaga, beets, carrots, parsnips and probably could lettuce but that garden is collapsed under the snow. Maybe it'll melt and I'll be able...
  10. Open Original Shared Link Hope this interests people.
  11. If you are worrying about spices, you can buy them fresh and wash them. That's what I did. You will be surprised about how good natural ingredients can taste once you get the processed food out of your system. I get reflux pretty easily too, though I'm not a singer. You just need to stick to the diet that you know works till you are better. At that...
  12. I thought I had problems with Rancho Gordo, but I have problems with lots of stuff. When you find a brand, please post about it and I'll give it a try. I grew my own black beans last year and they were good. I need to try to grow more this summer.
  13. I just wanted to point out that positive tests that go down to 10 ppm don't show any lack of reliability on the part of the manufacturers when under 20 ppm is the proposed gluten free level. Even if the tests results are true.
  14. Except I had problems finding a sugar I could tolerate. Do you use anything special? I have only been able to find one very expensive honey.
  15. There are lots of references which talk of wallpaper paste containing gluten. Here is one: Open Original Shared Link It is probably responsible for some of your symptoms since you are sensitive to gluten, I'm assuming that since you are posting here. I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully someone else can finish up that job while you get out of there...
  16. I believe that I get different symptoms from low level cc than higher level cc, so that is something to consider. It is now winter so there is vitamin D deficiency to consider. I'm not sure if someone else mentioned it or not. I also don't eat when I'm out. Neither does my son by his own choice. I've gone from 7 a.m. till 6 p.m. without eating and...
  17. I hadn't heard of that before. I just checked it out. Are you O.K. with their flavors?
  18. I don't know that there is much worse than a bad glutening. Those without the problem really can't understand. I don't put it on my facebook though.
  19. Different celiacs react to different levels of gluten contamination. If your celiac is sensitive to higher levels, a shared household should work fine. If your celiac reacts to very low levels, he might continue to show symptoms unless you go to a gluten free household. My son and I are sensitive to very low levels. We tried for a year to make a shared...
  20. I get joint pain as a sign of glutening. You could try to keep a food diary.
  21. I get terrible joint pain from low level gluten contamination. I finally figured out my latest and it is so nice to be able to bend my elbow without pain again!
  22. With my son and I, GERD is a symptom of glutening. We are among the tiny number of celiacs who can react to the tiny amounts of gluten allowed in gluten free foods. Here is an explanation: Open Original Shared Link I hope that helps.
  23. Even if it isn't DH, there are other rashes caused by gluten: Open Original Shared Link
  24. I'm coming to this late. I didn't see this before. As a super sensitive, I do react to sodas. I thought it was the corn syrup. While I don't react to corn on the cob, I do tend to react to processed corn products. I don't react to my store brand soda water so I mix that up with juice to make my own "soda", kind of like what Jestgar recommended.
  25. They sell whole grain sorghum online. Click on express order form: Open Original Shared Link
