  1. With my son I'd say 3 - 6 months.
  2. There are identical twins in my local support group who are in their 60's or so. One has it and one doesn't.
  3. My kids were also very picky. Now they are teenagers. What worked for us was to give them choices. I'd give them choices in different food categories. For instance they needed to have a veggie and a fruit and then they could have a cookie. It helps for them to feel in charge of what they eat.
  4. You might want to look into the possibility of being a super sensitive celiac. Some of us react to processed foods. What you would need to do is eat only produce and meat for a few days and see if you notice a difference. Then you could look into the particulars further.
  5. You might want to look into the facility where the tomato paste is made. I found that I couldn't eat store bought tomato sauce while I could eat my own. Again, I am super sensitive. I don't think that tomato sauce is a problem for the mainstream celiacs who frequent this site.
  6. Do you know that it isn't gluten related? Different levels of gluten will lead to different severity of symptoms. Open Original Shared Link I am a super sensitive celiac and I have had problems with certain naturally gluten free foods from some sources while I can eat them without symptoms if I get them from other sources. I think that sometimes they...
  7. Celiac disease can delay puberty. Here are some references. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link My son was diagnosed at age 10. He is now 14. He has had periods of symptom reoccurance including delayed growth which we treated by dietary changes. In those cases his growth returned to normal. He went back...
  8. Yes, I have had problems with those processed foods. I am extremely sensitive and have problems with most processed foods. I would first look at what you changed. Change it back and see if that helps. If not, and you really want him to get better, take out all the processed foods and see if that works. Then add back one food at a time, one per week or...
  9. Me too. So true!
  10. There's been some press lately about how vitamins aren't regulated very well. That might have something to do with it. About an earlier remark you made: I definitely notice a hormonal effect on my gluten reactions. They have always seemed worse when I am having my period. I noticed this even before I had heard of gluten.
  11. I think that without a positive biopsy you can say that you have not been diagnosed with celiac disease. That is the gold standard for the diagnosis. They say that there can be other reasons for a positive test. The fact that a follow up test was negative could be considered confirmation that you don't have celiac disease and the previous positive test...
  12. I made a health breakthrough when I dropped all vitamins and supplements. Counter intuitive, isn't it? I MENTION THIS REACTION AS A SUPER SENSITIVE CELIAC. SORRY TO BE IN THE REGULAR SECTION, BUT I WAS SPECIFICALLY ASKED A QUESTION. PLEASE DISREGARD IF YOU AREN'T A SUPER SENSITIVE CELIAC. I try hard to eat a balanced diet and get everything I need...
  13. Thank you. (I think LOL) I'm sorry, but no. I'm trialing almonds from Anderson Almonds currently, but don't have a definitive answer yet. They are shelled and I really hope they work. I do know someone else who is very sensitive who recommended them, which I why I am trying them. In general nuts work better when you shell them yourself. That...
  14. They sell dried veggies and fruit too. They look interesting. I don't see any gluten grains on their site.
  15. I think that it was towards the beginning. The whole thing is a good read anyway. It is only 46 or so pages of text. The rest is references, tables and stuff.
  16. That has been my experience. Symptoms from higher level contaminations are different from symptoms from lower level contaminations. That was also the finding of the recent FDA analysis of gluten challenge studies. Open Original Shared Link
  17. I used to cry in the grocery store looking at all the food I couldn't have. It gets better. Now I really enjoy many foods I didn't eat before diagnosis. I hope that you all improve more fast.
  18. That's when I get my worst GI symptoms too. Sometimes very early in the morning. For me it can be anything I had the day before. I would eliminate almost everything to figure it out. For a few days you can go without toothpaste, soap, laundry detergent etc. If that doesn't help, then you know it's your food. Start using that stuff again and start eliminating...
  19. What a good job of looking on the bright side! I remember when my mother's hair fell out by the handful. She didn't mention the legs. She liked going around bald best. She didn't like the feel of hats. She didn't like the looks she got though. Scarves were a good compromise.
  20. I was going to suggest that you take it out of your diet to find out as we all have our own individual level of sensitivity. What bothers me might not bother you and what doesn't bother someone else might. It looks like you already did that. It is frustrating, but at least you figured it out.
  21. This was about wild rice harvested by canoe. I can't remember the name of the one I got. I did a google search and a bunch come up. Edited to add: I forgot that I have the name written down somewhere. It was Fanci Food. It was much better priced than a lot of the others too.
  22. I make a nice chip from 1 c. cooked potato, 1 c. cooked greens, 3/4 c + 1T water, 2 T oil, 1 T vinegar and a little less than 1/2 t salt. Blend together and that does one pan of my dehydrator, but you need inserts like for fruit leather.
  23. I got a kind of wild rice that was grown traditionally and harvested by native Americans in canoes. You should look for those kinds.
  24. I do make my own juice, and while it is easy, it is very time consuming. It's not for everyone.
