  1. Actually, my lightheadedness has dissappeared since getting pregnant. I think the extra blood supply is helping me too. Since you asked for updates and confessed to being nosey, and since I'm a big mouth, I'll share today's updates. Jr. passed the ultrasound 1/2 of the nuchal test. The blood test portion will be available in a week. I was worried about...
  2. Thank you for asking. We had our 12 week ultrasound today. I got to see it's little fingers waving at me while it flipped all around while the ultrasound tech tried to get good images for the nuchal test. I've had very little morning sickness but some pretty strong migraines that without my Imitrex, have had throwing up and miserable for several days at a...
  3. I don't know what to tell your for the GI issues, mine are the opposite of yours. For the pain, I take Tylenol and/or Tylenol PM. The benadryl in the Tylenol PM helps me sleep through the worst of it. Warn the people you live/work/travel with that you will be more irratable because of the pain. Get some sleep and force feed the hydration. The reality is that...
  4. I've had the symptoms of costocondritis for several years before being diagnosed Celiac. The pain was lower on the list of bothersome symptoms and because I knew the docs felt I was a hypochondriac I never said anything about it. The pain left within the first 6 months or so after starting the diet, but will come back after a glutening at times.
  5. Varibar is gluten free as well. I would ask to speak to the radiology techs and get the manufacturer of the items that will be used and call the company directly. Be aware that if the area is used for modified barium swallows or video flouroscopies by a speech pathologist, there may be cookie crumbs cross contaminating the area. I'm a speech pathologist,...
  6. It sounds like you have a healthy plan worked out for yourself. My symptoms are neuro not digestive, so my strategy is a little different. I think some of it is based on hunches vs. science. I lose all appetite when I'm glutened, so I eat high nutrient items like sweet potatoes and spinach. I take double doses of my vitamins. I eat flax seed. This is the...
  7. My neuro symptoms got better very slowly and very gradually. At 2 years post diagnosis, they are not gone and I'm not sure they will ever be all gone. Every glutening sets me back, but the reaction is weaker every time and the recovery is quicker every time. Things that helped were keeping my low blood pressure up with lots of hydration and salt, taking my...
  8. I've glutened myself a few times by touchng something and forgetting to wash my hands. I found that the first 6+ months of diagnosis, I needed to be extremely careful and a bit paranoid in order to cut out my cross contamination. Then when I had a reaction to something, I could say, "I know it wasn't the hand washing, and it wasn't the iffy glass from the...

    ARCHIVED Dentist Visit

I call two weeks in advance for a list of all products and then make the calls myself. I've run into the problem of arriving and being placed in a booth that is stocked with different items for some reason, and making them hunt down the safe items from other booths and back room storage.
  10. If you know the club you are going to, could you try to get them to special order or pick up from the convenience mart redbridge. Maybe you could talk the bartender into picking up some for an extra tip if you call ahead and talk to him/her. Regarding food: I've never had a problem with bringing in my own food. I try to keep it to a single container like...
  11. 7 low speed fender benders that were my fault prior to diagnosis. 0 since. I get ADD like symptoms with gluten and prior to diagnosis was on ADD meds (accident free during those years as well). Now I'm free of ADD meds and gluten and accidents. Bottom line is with or without meds or gluten, the accidents were my fault and would have been avoided if I was...
  12. I had neuro only symptoms for years then in one horrible horrible weekend, the undiagnosed celiac took over my life. Vertigo, Migraine, confusion, sensory hyperstimulation, and pain all hit me in the first days. Then the GI symptoms started, but they were nothing big. With the exception of recognisable food in my stool, the GI symtoms went away for the next...
  13. I hope you've got a little bun in there. After being told I would need an egg donor at 31, we gave up trying. At 33 I was diagnosed celiac, and now at 35, I'm pregnant for the first time. My body reversed the liver and kidney damage the celiac caused. Apparently, it reversed at least some of the hormonal damage as well. Even though it is not the optimal timing...
  14. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. :)

  15. Congrats on going gluten free and figuring out how to become healthy again. I'm all for the coffee theory, but I would like to add that as a newbie to the gluten-free world, it is also likely that you are inadvertently getting some CC somewhere. For me it was the BBQ grill, the vegetable steamer, and pineapple juice. Think about every kitchen item that touches...
  16. OK, I'll drop the soy. How long? Does that mean legumes too?
  17. Thanks all for the quick responses. Milk and egg are on my allergies list. In the past 6 months with the advice of an allergist, I've been adding cooked varieties of these back to my diet. Eggs seem to go over well with good cooking. Milk products do not. I tried going beanless/soyless for 3 months a year ago and felt no better. As soon as I added the soy...
  18. I'm 2 years strictly on the gluten free diet. (TMI of the digestive kind to follow). Since diagnosis, I've had undigested recognizable foods in my stool. I just figured I was still healing from stage Marsh stage 3c damage. Well, my body decided it wasn't infertile anymore and I'm pregnant (Yippie), but the undigested food in my stool has me worried about...
  19. congratulations! My mother had the same attitude when we started trying 10 years ago. For her, the reaction was worry about our financial stability at the time. You are fortunate to have this baby now and that the two kids will be close together in age. Remind yourself that yes your mom loves you even though she can say stupid things sometimes. Take good...
  20. I'm still in SHOCK. I was told 4 years ago that I would need an egg donor. Hubby has severe problems too. Due to financial and health problems, we never pursued it. Today, my period was 3 days late and I took a test to get the hope of pregnancy out of my mind. I'm pregnant. I have not been taking vitamin supplements and have been living off peanuts, oranges...
  21. May I suggest asking an old HS buddy to put you up. At least the odds are no worse for you getting glutened there and hubby might have a good time hanging with an old friend.
  22. I'm so sorry you are now sick on top of scared and ticked off. OK, I have a tendancy to be passive aggressive. If direct discussions are not working, let her see how much getting sick affects your life (and thus hers). I hope she wouldn't be so cruel, but this site has had reports of relatives making people sick intentionally to "test" the diagnosis. Make...
  23. Oh, I'm so embarassed. Protien shake tea tea yogurt home made spagetti with pepperoni and olives tea and cookies personal watermellon chips yogurt
  24. OK, your Aveeno is made with oats & is definately not gluten free. some of your other products may be fine. I don't know, but someone else will. In case they are not, look at burt's bees for lipcolor, Cover Girl clearly lables wheat, rye, barley and oats on the back if it is present in the product. Dove and other Unilever products clearly list gluten...
