  1. Dang. I feel your pain and frustration. My husband was recommended to have allergy testing and the doctor's office called the insurance to see what it pays. The receptionist called yesterday and told my husband what his benefits were. I called the insurance company, and low and behold my insurance has changed yet again as of Jan. 1st. It is pretty darn...
  2. I originally had the same thing, $20 copay for any visits including my son's shots(he goes once a week for two shots). The receptionist suggested to me if I was to "self pay" they would give a discount(total charges were $25). Plus it saved them paperwork. I ended up doing that just for the allergy shots and paid $15/week instead of my $20 copay. It saved...
  3. I make a black bean brownie that I found off a low carb site. This is an interesting twist on it, but I personally would leave out the expresso, since I hate coffee and dislike it in anything.
  4. I take it usually anytime between morning and early afternoon. Tuesday is my day I take it. I have not noticed any adverse effects from it at all. About 6 weeks after starting it I noticed a great deal more energy and better moods including pms. I'm suposed to be taking two slowFe iron pills a day, but have not in several months. I have to really make...
  5. I take one Rx vitamin D2 50,0000 iu capsule weekly and have for a little over a year. My endocrinologist prescribed it after my labs showed I was deficient. My gyn doctor is very gung ho on everyone taking vitamin D and suggested I stay on it year round. My last vitamin D test showed it was 54. He wants it no lower than 50 but 70 would be ideal for him...
  6. If I think about it I probably had subtle symptoms of celiac at least as far back as when I was diagnosed with the hashimotos in 2000. The symptoms that started me going to the doctor was when my youngest son was 14 months old (he is 5 now). He had so many food issues when he was a baby that I eliminated so much from my diet to keep him well. After I started...
  7. Heck if you gotta girl that would like to see you again why not? Why shut the door on something that could be. If you don't take the chance you will never know what the potential was. It may not go any further, but at least you won't be sitting alone saying "what if." There was something there that made her want to meet again.
  8. I feel lucky that my insurance picked up the tab for the dietitian. That said, by the time I went to see her I felt I was already armed with more information than what she gave me. I even found a mistake on her pamplets. On the pamplets it said that you could not eat buckwheat, and we all know it is just has a misfortunate name. The dietitian did not...
  9. I knew I was doing better with all the exercise , but today it really hit home. I went for a 45 min. bike ride with my oldest son and I felt great! I was not huffing and puffing to catch my breath and it did not fatigue my legs at all(all of those lunges and squats are starting to pay off) . I even made it up the one hill behind our house without stopping...
  10. Well I managed to work out 4 times this week. Thursday I really stepped it up and went a good 40 minutes. Today I finished the last exercise routine in the 30 day challange (not in 30 days though ) and felt like I did accomplish something. I'm going to take a rest tommorow and set a new 30 day challange on the hard intensity starting Monday. I am going...
  11. If you were wanting to get tested, now would be a good time to do it while still eating gluten. If you have any other children they should be screened to.
  12. My pharmacy just recently changed brands of levothyroxine. I used to take Mylan which is gluten free. The new is from Lannett. Here is a reply I recieved from them: All Lannett products are gluten free. -----Original Message----- Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 9:35 PM To: CustomerService Subject: Website - Info Request Comments: My mail...
  13. Mylan also makes a generic liothyronine. I just got off the phone with a representative and she stated that it was gluten free.
  14. Do you measure body fat with a caliper or some other way? I really don't think I would like what I would see . I'm going to shoot for 4-5 times this week.
  15. I started following the South Beach diet. The first two weeks I lost 13 pounds. I sorta fell off the perverbial wagon, but I have been incorporating exercise 3-5 times a week for about 30 minutes for the past two months. I can really tell that my muscles are toning up and my cardio has improved alot. I'm getting back on the eating plan today. I remember...
  16. I did 30 minutes of exercise split between cardio and upper/lower body. Felt good. I am going to get back on track with the south beach diet tommorow. My muscles are really toning up and now I want to get rid of the "fluff" around them so I can "see" the results.
  17. T3 has a relative short half life. My endocrinologist told me that the dose divided would keep the levels in the blood more stable. It is very fast acting, so if you have symptoms of overmedication, the dose can be tweeked very easily and quickly unlike the t4 meds which can take anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks to level.
  18. I've been taking 5 mcg of cytomel twice a day since around 2007 in addition to my levothyroxine(I'm currently taking 112 mcg/day). I couldn't believe the difference it made for me. There is a generic form made by paddock labs. I checked when my insurance wanted me to switch. I believe both brands are gluten free and I take the generic without any problems...
  19. Here is my pathology report from my small bowel biopsy: DIAGNOSIS Duodenum, 3rd part, biopsy: 1. Duodenal mucosa with acute and chronic inflammation and villi blunting. See comment. 2. Negative for parasites and malignancy. Comment The boipsy demonstrates lamina propria expansion with predominately chronic inflammation consisting of lymphocytes...
  20. Sesmark rice thins. According to their website they don't claim they are gluten free, just that they are made of non gluten ingredients and no gluten is added(found this out after the fact). The package I bought said "gluten free" right on it and I had a reaction to them within 30 minutes. The hearburn started first, but I thought it might be the sesame...
  21. I personally do not like the chebe mixes. I do make a recipe I got off the internet and yes I do boil the milk and oil. After which I pour into the tapicoa flour and mix well. It should have the consistency of play doh. Let it rest 15 min and mix in cheese, eggs, and salt. If your dough is too soft keep adding more tapioca flour until you can form it...
  22. Did upper body and cardio today for around 30 minutes. I've also been good on not snacking today. I made strawberry smoothies from non fat french vanilla yogurt, 1% milk, frozen strawberries, banana and truvia. I added a couple of tablespoons of coconut flour to thicken it up and add flavor and fiber. When I use coconut flour I always stay full longer...
  23. The kids had their final swim class yesterday and parents were invited to swim. It wasn't the most intense exercise, but I did stay in the pool for 45 min. I was swimming back and forth with a 5 year old on my back and then racing the 9 year old. I plan on a workout sometime today with the EA sports active. It will be somewhere between 20-30 min.
  24. All great ideas. I don't lick envelopes. The shared toothpaste tube is one I had not considered. Don't have pool floaties, but do use powdered gloves at work. However, I am constantly washing my hands because of infection control. I'm at a point that I feel that I have managed the loose ends up with the possible cross contamination issue. Of course...
  25. Come on and join the fun! I think it's great and we'll be happy to cheer you on I like this thread. It is helping me in the motiviation aspect and keeping me accountable. I exerciced for 20 min. again this morning. More total body. If I feel up to it this evening I may go for another 20 min. Now that I am getting back into a routine, I am wanting...
