  1. Sounds like classic symptoms, other than that I don't know what to tell you.
  2. That is what is so difficult in diagnosing people with celiac, the symptoms are so wide ranged and varied. But to answer your question, yes they can. Many people have no GI symptoms. My GI symptoms did not start showing up until about 7 or 8 years ago, for some reason I just never picked up them. Once I went gluten-free a lot of psychological symptoms...
  3. I have had no issues with it and have confirmed its gluten-free status. Do you have trouble with other fats/oils?
  4. There's a bunch on amazon. Just type in gluten free and then on the left side click "Grocery" and then hit "Beverages."
  5. Sorry I can't be of much help other than to say try calling the company. That is probably the only way to know, especially since it is a relatively new product.
  6. The test that holds the most validity is the one you do yourself. Many people on this forum have had negative blood tests and negative biopsies, but have still responded favorably to the gluten-free diet. Currently, this is known as Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or NCGS. I myself would be considered a NCGS individual. Not only did I have negative blood work...
  7. I'm also curious.. Where are you in NC? I'm currently going to school at Elon University.
  8. Yes, it is gluten-free. Alkalized Cocoa --> https://www.celiac.com/articles/181/1/Safe-...ents/Page1.html
  9. Man are you right.. I wish I would have read this 48 hours ago. I got glutened from Frito Lay's Mixed Nuts it had an allergy warning label on it for peanuts. So I figured what the heck, if they were produced on the same lines as wheat, they would have put that on the label too. Boy did I pay the price, it's ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. Luckily, since...
  10. What is your diet like? Are you consuming dairy or any other of the common allergens (ie soy, corn, egg, etc.)? I used to get bad D whenever I would consume too much fat and not enough (soluble) fiber. Insoluble fiber used to tear up my gut and almost seemed to reverse the healing process. Even though you say you're quite confident you're not consuming any...
  11. I think this should answer your question. Here is a quote from an article my Aunt sent me: People diagnosed with celiac disease are more likely to have either no symptoms or symptoms that are atypical of the classic symptoms of diarrhea, weight loss, and malabsorption. In adults, some of the more common presenting symptoms are constipation, acid-reflux...
  12. It can be overwhelming trying to find food when first going gluten-free. It's best to focus not on what she can't eat but what she can eat. Try to keep meals simple: have a lean protein (fish, chicken, turkey, etc.), a starch (white/brown rice or gluten-free pasta), and a vegetable. Snacks do not have to be complex either, try to give her a lot of fruit and...
  13. Bloody stool is not a common symptom of Celiac disease, but it could be due to a complication from Celiac. Blood in stool can be caused by * Anal Fissure * Colon Cancer * Colon Polyps * Crohn's Disease * Diverticulitis (Diverticulosis) * Hemorrhoids * Peptic Ulcer * Stomach Cancer What exactly were you...
  14. Is it only when she eats that she gets bloated? How long has she been gluten-free? Is she consuming dairy? Is she taking any supplements? Ideally, it would be best if we could locate the cause of the bloating. It could be due to lactose intolerance, fiber (a sudden change in the amount), hidden gluten, poor digestion of fats, or an enzyme deficiency. ...
  15. Some nuts and legumes are also loaded with magnesium like almonds and cashews.
  16. Ravenwood brings up a great point. If you did happen to pick a parasite or bug, that could explain the lactose intolerance. One my friends went to Africa for a month, picked up a bug that settled in his GI tract and became lactose intolerant for quite some time.
  17. I know exactly what you mean. My mom is great, I love her and all, and I know she tries to make me feel better, but she just doesn't seem to get it. Same with the majority of my other family members, but at least they're trying. Yes, I believe they are allowed to market it as gluten-free even if the vinegar is made from wheat or barley. If there...
  18. I can certainly understand your frustration. Are you taking any supplements? Have you recently stopped taking any or added any new ones? Also, if you are having trouble with dairy, probiotics can help with the breakdown of lactose. The Hershey's dark chocolate is surely to blame. I don't know if you are aware of this but not too long ago they changed...
  19. Ravenwood is right, your mom really needs to go back on the diet. Also, explain to your mother that just because she is not experiencing any GI symptoms does not mean that damage is not being done. Many people with Celiac Disease are actually asymptomatic or only have minor annoyances. She may not ever experience any symptoms but she very well could develop...
  20. In an attempt to answer your question "Why does their have to be so much pain in this world?" I believe life is balance, no matter how unbalanced it may seem sometimes. There is so much pain in the world for the same reason there is so much joy. At least that is how I rationalize it in my mind. What's sad is that the news and media only seem to focus on...
  21. I agree with Momma Goose, it's unlikely. Nuts are quite difficult to digest to begin with due to their high fat content and fiber. Do you have issues with other nuts or legumes?
  22. You would have had to have been gluten-free for at least four weeks for it to skew the biopsy in any way. A couple days is not going to make a difference. I am a bit skeptical as whether or not a biopsy can miss damage. I'm sure there are people out there that will disagree with me but if enough samples are taken it is rare for a biopsy to miss damage...
  23. Black stool can be a sign of blood, so you may want to see your doctor. Are you experiencing any pain or constipation? The green stool is most likely caused by the malabsorption/maldigestion of fats. I would not be too worried about the green stool, just cut back on fats for a while and reintroduce them once you have healed. Are you taking any antacids...
  24. That seems like a pretty normal response. Almost the exact same thing happens to me.
  25. I occasionally take these if my digestion seems weak. They're cheap and seem to get the job done --> Now Super Enzymes I also take these if I eat foods really high in fat like a PB&J. Also, pretty cheap --> Jarro-Zymes Plus If fats are your main issue I'd go with the second ones, otherwise if you just want a good all around one, go with the...
