  1. Peppermint oil actually helped me a ton too when I had IBS, but once I went completely off dairy and gluten I didn't need to take them anymore.
  2. I personally have never taken marshmellow root caps.. but I can tell you what I do/have taken that seem to have actually helped a lot. A good multivitamin - definitely need to get one of these. Enteric Coated peppermint oil pills - really only need these if you have bacterial overgrowth, but I actually did find them to be very soothing when I had IBS...
  3. haha I hate to burst your bubble, but this is old news here too..
  4. I actually eat Soy Ice Cream, I was bit skeptical at first but it is awesome. It's called Purely Decadent, Moca Almond and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough are amazing. They're gluten and dairy free. I'm pretty sure they're produced in the same facility as gluten containing products but it says on the label they practice good manufacturing procedures to separate...
  5. I would agree, call the manufacturer. You want to make sure that it is not produced on shared lines with gluten containing products.
  6. Unfortunately not much. The only thing you can really do is minimize your intake of them as much as possible and give yourself time to heal until you can tolerate them again. I, personally have just replaced broccoli and lettuce with carrots and peas. Arguably just as healthy and they contain no insoluble fiber. Potatoes and sweet potatoes without the...
  7. I have the same issue as you. It's seems the "healthier" I eat, the more out of wack my digestive system feels. It's funny how some of the best foods for you seem to be the most difficult to digest. I think it would be better to avoid all the foods that bother you regardless of how "healthy" they are considered to be. I have found many alternatives that are...
  8. I believe your issues with other grains are probably due to the insoluble fiber content - it is very rough on the digestive tract, scraping it clean. Do you have issues with cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and lettuce as well?
  9. I apologize if this has already been posted or if it's old news because it is new to me. I came across it after hearing how amazing Wellshire Farm's Chicken Nuggets were and looked to order them online only to find this very discouraging article: Open Original Shared Link I think it's truly a shame when a company labels something as "Gluten Free" when...
  10. Celiac is something that does get better with time. It just takes patience, that is something I have to keep reminding myself. Some days I will feel so good I will think "Im cured!" but then I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I blow up like a balloon. So yes, you will get better, it just takes time for your body to heal. That feeling of being...
  11. I would say what you are experiencing is pretty common. It has happened to me a couple of times, I still get really bad D if I consume to much fat and not enough soluble fiber. Perhaps yours is caused by the same thing. Now, I tend to stick with peanut butter or nuts and avoid oils. I still have a lot of issues with fats but they just taste so good! I actually...
  12. And still have a lot of issues with fats. They seem to just sit in my stomach for way too long. Is this normal? Should I start looking at other potential issues for why I don't digest fats well? Or do I just need to be more patient? Thanks
  13. In my experience the majority of people who go gluten-free after diagnosis gain weight, but stop once it levels out. So you might gain some, but I would not be concerned about gaining too much.
  14. I would have to advise against eating the same thing everyday. I know it must be difficult if you are allergic to a lot of things but I think that is partly how allergies form, by consuming too much of one thing and not eating a balanced diet. Also, potatoes without the skin are very good for weight gain. They're easy to digest, full of minerals like potassium...
  15. I have been gluten free for almost 5 months and actually just started taking lipase enzymes because fats would sit in my stomach for way too long.. and now I find myself eating more than ever! But I think that might just be because I still wasn't getting all the nutrients I needed even after going gluten free since my digestion of fats was still very week...
  16. It really depends on what your issues with food are. If you just have poor digestion in general, you want to get one that digests carbs, proteins, and fats. Most recovering celiacs really only have issues with fats, so only a lipase enzyme is necessary. However, I have found it difficult to get just a fat digesting enzyme unless you order online. So just...
  17. The human body is an amazing system so I suppose anything is possible, but I would think it to be very unlikely. If you were ingesting gluten it would continue to move through your digest track and eventually be eliminated within a couple of days, depending on fiber intake. But I suppose in the short run, say a couple of days, a small amount of gluten might...
  18. You are welcome. Someone (Momma Goose!) was nice enough to me to answer nearly all my questions. She was/is an expert on everything Celiac. So, I feel I owe something to the community since they have been so great to me. If you have any further questions feel free to PM me.
  19. Just for anyone else, I called them yesterday and they said it was NOT on their gluten free list. I did not ask which ingredients did contain gluten however.
  20. I have never had issues with grains except for those containing insoluble fiber. But I would not be too concerned, it doesn't seem that unlikely and many people do have issues with most grains when initially going gluten free. Just avoid them for a while and slowly reintroduce them back into your diet. I'd recommending starting with white rice. You really...
  21. That's awesome! I love to hear stories about good doctors since you always hear so many stories about how awful doctors are.
  22. Some people after they fully heal can eat a whole wheat sandwich and feel no ill effects. BUT that does not mean that no damage is being done. Many people are in fact asymptomatic. So, you might not get bloated or constipated, but the damage is still occurring. So, I know it's tempting but you have to stay gluten free! Celiac does not go away, it is...

  24. Does anyone know if Wolfgang Puck's Organic Chicken with White and Wild Rice is gluten free? I checked online and it only lists the casein free products. Also, the only questionable ingredients are organic maltodextrin and organic spice.
  25. Not that I know of, but I had negative blood work and a negative biopsy. The real "Gold Standard" is the dietary response. It is the only truly reliable test in my opinion.
