  1. Google schozophrenia and gluten! There have been tons of studies where gluten was taken away from whole wings of hospitals or whole units of prisons with remarkable results. And read "To Good to be True, Nutrients Quiet the unquiet Brain".
  2. RRRRR typed it all up and then lost it. OK so I'm going to Traverse City for three days on a business trip. I emailed the celiacs support group from that area and they sent me a list of 20 restaurants that are celiacs aware and most had gluten free menus. We also contacted The Great Wolf Lodge and Bowers Harbor Inn who both gracously agreed to cook for me...
  3. Loved the unsweetened almond milk but it had enough soy lethicin (sp?) to upset my digestion. I really like making my own almond milk when I can find unsalted almonds. Westsoy rice milk is cheap and easy to find. I just don't like that rice milk on cereal is just carbs on carbs, bad for my sugar. But when everyone else around here is eating ice cream, I have...
  4. Darn, I have to work on Saturday. Maybe I can send an envoy of teen agers!
  5. Good Morning Bloatus, About the muscle pain.... the damage to your intestine prevents you from absorbing nutrients and minerals like magnesium and iron. Low mag causes cramping. Low iron causes restless leg. I would try supplements. And forget the dirt nap, celiacs aren't quitters. Welcome to our world, the lastest figures say that we constitute 1/3 of...
  6. Are you just tired or are you really concerned that what you are learning won't apply to your future? If you really have an interest in horticulture you could take a few classes in that area. Agri-tourism is one of the few growing fields here in Michigan. People will drive from three states away to pick fruit to haul back home. And then there are the...
  7. Sounds like you're doing the homework! Keep up the good work. I looked up tylenol products a few days ago. I took an off brand at three in the morning for lower back pain and a head cold and woke up with a rash..... but the back pain and headache were gone..... so I'll have to stock up on the tylenol for my next middle of the night pain in the ....
  8. I bought coconut oil at the health food store once. Used it in baking and even to fry eggs. Between olive oil, coconut oil or lard I couldn't decide which one was worse on eggs . I finally got use to the taste of olive oil and don't even notice it anymore. I'm wandering, so back to the point ....We found that keeping coconut milk in the fridge so...
  9. I love the 90 second yummy bread made in the microwave in those little plastic containers that are shaped like bread. You know the ones with Dora the Explorer on them, I found them at the dollar store. It's so easy to mess around with the recipe to get something that you like. We've been making "cinnimon toast" by making the bread with apple sauce and...
  10. Our doctors were willing to DX on positive response to a gluten free diet (and negative response to screw ups ) My Dr. wrote the dx down on a prescription pad. I keep this in my purse and have pulled it out to show relatives and co-workers who joked about my illness being all in my head. You may want something like this for in-laws, out-laws,...
  11. scoops browned burger tomato lettuce avocado salsa sour cream shredded cheese everthing in separate bowls on the table to accomodate everyone's allergies or tastes ice cream or popcorn and juice before bed The trick is to get the kids involved. Give each one a task. And the guy who doesn't help prepare dinner does the dishes.
  12. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  13. Why not go gluten free for a bit and see if it goes away? You know how.
  14. Todays lunch sandwich........ 90 second yummy bread (made with rice flour, flax, walnuts, garlic) Ahi tuna canola mayo yellow low acid tomato from my BF's garden avocado sea salt pepper Yuuuuuummmm
  15. Hey Kaki, You are not alone, you have us. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know. There are a lot of great guys out there who are also celiac or are just caring enough to want to understand. It isn't even an issue in our house, all shared meals are gluten, soy, dairy free period and my BF who has no allergies does most of the cooking...
  16. I just feel safer buying foods that don't come with a label like bananas or with simple ingredients like Natural Peanut Butter, ingredients: peanuts, salt or Rice Cakes, ingredients: brown rice. Maybe I'm being silly but all my parts are working and feel great for the first time in awhile.
  17. benedryl - hot water, cherry juice, maple syrup, Miralax tonic - allergy cream on my spots and in the creases around my nose if they itch or burn I promise never to do that again, ever ever....
  18. I would be furious! What if you hadn't found out and he licked his fingers or ate a peice of cookie dough? I know you don't want to cause lasting hard feelings in your work place but it's time for this teacher to learn something herself.
  19. Different foods have different amounts of gluten in them. As an example, I've read that whole wheat bread has more gluten than white bread. The amount of gluten it takes to cause a reaction is different for each of us. For some a bread crumb is a killer, others will take the bun off a hamburger and eat the meat. I'm from the "a crumb is a killer camp" and...
  20. I use to I don't anymore Sometimes I have to learn things the hard way!
  21. Dairy does this to me. For a long time I thought my hip was out. I went to two chiropractors. The back pain went on for several months before I developed obvious dairy intolerance, then dairy protein allergy, soy protein allergy, allergies to many other favorite foods. Looking back it seems the celiacs was causing leaky gut. Since going gluten free I've...
  22. I know it's too late for the original question but for others reading this post...... tapioca beads work well as a thickener in pies, apple crisp et. just sprinkle them into the fruit filling RA
  23. Labbott, Is there a relative on his side of the family who will listen? I've found my ex-mother-in-law who never liked me to be a great asset. When my ex has visitation it is usually in her home. She looked celiacs up (probably with the intention of proving I'm nuts) and has decided that my younger son, the one she is closest to, probably has it. So now...
  24. Thank you, that was very interesting!
  25. I agree with the answers Darn210 gave but want to add that CC from the grill has been a problem for alot of people. And my BF hasn't had a real kiss in ages because of beer.
