  2. Good Morning All- What a wonderful night -- first family gathering (yep they are always at our house -- long before food was an issue) this year that I wasn't sick, tired, bloated or in pain for the whole event LOL -- no ski daddy here -- except my hubby -- my Dad is the farthest thing from sporty that you can get -- he is a wonderful musician...

  6. Testing for Celiac Disease should done along side all blood tests for inflammation -- my first Rhuemy didn't believe my Celiac Disease could be responsible for any of my AI symptoms -- our doctors are capable of some great things, but sure need to go back to school to learn the connection between nutrition and autoimmune and gasto disorders!
  7. "Does anyone else here feel like they are desperately trying to get better?" Yes, please read as much as you can. I have spent years learning the keys to my health. I do hope your answers are quicker, but know there have been MANY before you that havve struggled each day to obtain health and there will be many more that follow. You are not alone...
  8. The problem is none of us is exactly the same. It seems you have a good handle on what foods bother you. Start there and adapt to the research you have done. You seem to be on the right track to me.
  9. plan b...soak your feet in a big bowl of hot water.
  10. I'd go with a possible combo of all four. Take a nice long hot bath with epsom salt and bubbles -- or just shampoo or handsoap in a pinch. Try to get a good night's sleep. Keep food simple during finals and if something smells bad...toss it.
  11. YES! When in doubt == Emergency Room - better to error on the side of caution. We are not doctors on this board...simply other folks with Celiac Disease, NCGI or other food intolerances -- if you are experiencing new serious symptoms, please consult a physician.
  12. L2T is right again -- shoulda made a triple batch -- only went for a double today -- might add a touch of bourbon next time too! All my guys are beyond happy with me this evening with just a taste - tomorrow they'll have some with breakfast and be eternally grateful to you
  13. Yes, it is wise to get the bone density -- mine was very bad for early forties when diagnosed -- this is one of the best improvements I've had over the last four years...from what I understand we replace our bones in about 5 years -- good food along with exercise will make a new stronger set I second Gemini's good wishes -- relatives can me more frustrating...
  14. Yes - mine's still bubbling at nearly four hours...think I'll go for a walk before it needs to be finished and jarred.
  15. Yep this is the one I'm using too.
  16. It smells heavenly -- still bubbling in the crock. Got a beautiful fresh Christmas tree this morning - fresh pine and bacon jam wafting together is quite nice Several? More to try I used the one a few pages back -- think it was Tuesday or Wednesday. bacon, onion, garlic, coffee, vinegar, brown sugar and maple syrup
  17. I get a free pound of bacon Yay....just in time too -- making my first double batch of L2T's Bacon Jam today -- realized my secret stash of real maple syrup had been found and used up -- house should smell great today Welcome Home IH! So wonderful to hear that you were kicking up your heals in grand style
  18. Hi Robby- Here is the University of Chicago's complete list of symptoms that are associated with Celiac Disease. The malabsorption of nutrients caused by celiac damage of the small intestine can effect any system in the body -- the human body will compensate when missing nutrients until it can no longer function. This is why those of us that went undiagnosed...
  19. kitty on lap here too...she always hops onboard right when I am about to get up -- great reason to make the men get things for me Did someone say snow -- on my walk yesterday I listened to my go to album when I need motivation for another dozen runs -- must add snow to activity very soon - pleez
  20. There is stuff at the pharmacy called red cross dental - it'll take the pain away until you get to the dentist. Warning - it tastes horrid! But does buy you time.. We take this along when we travel as my husband also has soft teeth that have a knack for breaking away from home.
  21. Welcome Sarah! Udi's is one of the best gluten-free beads. If you aren't specifically looking for a low carb bread I wouldn't start trying gluten-free bread with Julian. Udi's is found in the freezer section of many markets. Google Udi's to find at a store near you. This bread is also better toasted, but is ok without toasting too. Canyon Bakehouse...
  22. Genetic manipulation is - IMO - what has caused the alarming increase in Celiac Disease, NCGI along with all AIs -- I don't want a safe wheat - I want safe foods - period.
  23. Agreed...bagels would be awesome. My husband's jobsite is near their bakery -- will pass the suggestion up the chain. I also kinda double toast...I toast it light and then flip it and toast again...it's not the toaster...the bread kinda curls during first toasting. Again, this is not light, fluffy bread -- it is for those that can't tolerate udi's...
