  1. Have you been ingesting gluten regularly? One day of gluten loading won't effect your blood work. The tests measure antibodies created in response to gluten - this reaction doesn't happen in one day.
  2. Our bird is still giving - had one night off to give my men red meat to prevent a major revolt - tonight will be Turkey and Waffles for these California Kids - turkey soup encore for me.
  3. Your son got his celiac genes from either you or his father. Since you have serious Celiac Disease symptoms that improve when gluten-free - my guess is they came from you. Your intestine has most likely healed from your efforts which is very good news. That the brief gluten challenge was hell together with inflammation in the digestive track and a...
  4. Welcome Jackibar and Dot! Dot -- thank you for sharing your story - what a gift that you have found a path to a healthy life and that you are willing to share it Jacki -- you should be specific that you would like a full celiac panel consisting of: Total Serum IgA tTG (Tissue Transglutaminase) - IgA and IgG DGP (Deamidated Gliadin Peptide...
  5. The problem is she was not dismissed by CBS. She has not been released from her contract to the show. She has stated both in print and in spoken word - she understands if they need to replace her, but release her from the contract so she can look for alternative work.
  6. Not my choice of parting words for the best thread ever -- and no promises of lack of holiday hangy-overs here. Hey Peter -- you there? It seems we need another edit...we need a link to this thread at the end of the ORIGINAL Silly Pages.
  7. Hi Aly- If you don't get a response....maybe re-post with title "Help - Need Corn Free All Purpose Flour". There are a few corn free specialists that may notice the post.
  8. Rib Eye Steaks, Brussel Sprouts and Butternut Squash Fries
  9. If you can link a reaction to eggs - remove them. Same with any food that you know bothers you. If you haven't noted a specific reaction - stick with gluten and dairy free for a month or two before you consider removing other foods. Give your body a chance to see if that is enough.
  10. Hang in there Adam! It can take time -- if you don't improve after a few more weeks - do think about removing dairy -- the damage caused by Celiac Disease often makes it hard to digest dairy until you have healed. If you do end up removing dairy, you will likely get it back -- make sure to trial it every six months. I have very little appetite when...
  11. Hi Dave- How did your fermenting go? I tried gaps diet awhile back and couldn't tolerate the fermented vegies required. Wondering if you were able to eat them. Also wanted to add my Chocolate Mousse Like Substance to this thread - I've been fiddling with it for at least a month - last night was the best - yummy: 1/2 cup melted coconut oil 1/3 cup...
  12. I can do agave or honey -- others avoid agave. I make a yummy chocolate mousse regularly - it is my go to sweet fix Cocoa, Coconut Oil, Almond Milk, Almond Butter, Agave and a touch of vanilla in the blender. I've been playing with the measurements for about a month - the almond milk is a recent addition and really made it creamy. For those...
  13. Hold that Victrola..... Vinyl is back! My 19 year old is collecting now -- bought him a turn table last Christmas with USB connection so they can transfer their vinyl to digital...yep...stay tuned we are not as old as we thought - well that may be going a bit too far The current vinyl comes in a wide variety of colors, transparent, opaque, etc...
  14. Thank you for sharing this - I copied it to my FB with the following: Finally...an accurate portrayal of Celiac Disease in the media rather than the more common commentary that repeatedly calls a very serious autoimmune disease "trendy" or a "fad weight loss diet" or that "gluten free is a dietary choice" -- I have never said these words before - Thank...
  15. Exactly what Rosetapper said. There is no safe amount of gluten for someone with Celiac Disease. I've selected two key thoughts from your post. Your symptoms have gotten worse as time passes. The symptoms you list as minor will get worse as well until the fatigue is debilitating and the bloating is severe -- it is possible you will develop even more...
  16. We are still in turkey mode -- a 24 pound bird's carcass takes nearly as much fridge space as he did before Turkey Day. So tonight is turkey soup -- only have to leave out the tomato and wide noodles for my share --- and loads of leftover to freeze Rare crusty gluten filled bread for hubby - Schar's french bread for kids. I'll smell hubby's and live...
  17. I went the strict route myself. I am not suggesting you do this strict of an elimination -- just letting you know what I did - there is a lot of info online about elimination diets - it is best to read as much as you can and then make your plan. I think it took almost a month for me to map out what I was going to do. For me this was the best route as I...
  18. Do PPIs work for you? Many of us have too little stomach acid, rather than too much. PPIs reduce acid even further which can work against proper digestion. Both probiotics and digestive enzymes can be very helpful when healing.
  19. Yes, my own digestive problems were much less severe for years. I had many "stomach flus" that I finally realised never brought a fever. As the years passed these flares became more frequent until they didn't get better or go away - the symptoms were Celiac and they contined to worsen untiil I was finally diagnosed at 43.
  20. Hi Amber- With low Total IgA it is tough to have a positive/abnormal tTG-IgA -- this information together equals a strong positive for Celiac Disease. The positive/abnormal EMA means there is measurable damage to the endomysial layer of the small intestine. You have Celiac Disease. I'm not clear which IgG based tests were run, so check that...
  21. Welcome! You are not alone - many of us have gone through years of test after test being normal. This often means that doctors haven't ordered the correct tests. Had you removed gluten partially or completely before the tTG-IgA and EMA-IgA? You'll need to be consuming gluten for the best possible opportunity for antibodies to be detected on blood...
  22. That does seem fast. I can only add that my liver function tests were elevated at diagnosis and were in normal range at three months gluten-free. And I'd add complete resolution of the Big D so quickly is great and a solid reason to remain gluten-free. Hope your first gluten-free Thanksgiving went well
  23. Everything Mushroom said. One other question - what celiac antibody tests were done? If you don't have them request written or electronic copies of all tests including endoscopy report. There is often more information on the report than the doctor's office imparts verbally. Often doctors will only run the tTG-IgA -- this without a Total IgA...
