ARCHIVED Blue Bloods' Jennifer Esposito Tweets about CBS Treatment Relating to her ... - IVCPOST
GottaSki replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
When I read this my thought was her job requires her to work long hours - if she can't she needs to find another job. Might seem harsh, but I couldn't work long hours long after removing gluten and don't believe my employers were responsible for my not being able to work long hours nor should they be responsible to make provisions for my work to be done... -

Go for it...if a safety officer stops by call it a space heater -
When you say sugar free - do you eat fruit, agave, honey? There are many Paleo recipes for muffins made with coconut or almond flour. I use bananas, apples or pumpkin in mine with a small amount of agave. For small snacks I tote along a piece of chicken, hard boiled eggs, banana, apple slices, small container of almond butter, slightly blanched asparagus...

ARCHIVED It's Now Official!
GottaSki replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Fantastic MW! Bottom line is your health - if it improves without gluten - that is all you need to know. That you react strongly will reinforce your diagnosis regularly as accidents will happen. I think it's wonderful that you can improve your health by adjusting food and that you realize it without a doctor granting a blessing - My hope remains... -
ARCHIVED How Do U Handle Cooking For Your Family With Kids?
GottaSki replied to AnnJay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Mcy kids were older - 13, 15 and 25 when I was finally diagnosed. They all went gluten-free by choice as they all had different celiac symptoms with negative blood work. We were a mixed kitchen cooking completely gluten-free dinners for about a year. Kids still ate gluten cerals an had gluten bread in their lunches. Of the two at home - the older... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Questioning My Diagnosis Of Celiac
GottaSki replied to Mrs. M.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I often recommend getting the endoscopy for not only diagnosis, but additionally for follow up care. In this case I see no advantage to introducing gluten for a challenge - you are already living gluten-free and improving your health. You had positive blood test that led to your diagnosis - no reason to dismiss the diagnosis because you have not yet... -

I think you said you can have rice pasta and meatballs, but have lost tomato sauce. I replaced tomato sauce with thick carrot soup...stumbled on it as a sauce by accident. Boil Carrots, Onion, Garlic and salt in Chicken Broth - puree in blender - I was making carrot cream soup for a while before I realized it made a darn good sauce - from then on I... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
GottaSki replied to Oli's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is a good idea - perhaps he'll want to biopsy if it's positive -
ARCHIVED I Guess I Am Joining The Undiagnosed Club
GottaSki replied to maggiesimpson's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That is very frustrating Megan. You may find clarification with more time gluten free. If your symptoms continue to improve with the strict removal of gluten and return with the inevitable accidental glutening - you have your answer. Positive dietary response combined with the inflammation and ulcers of the small intestine would indicate Celiac Disease... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
GottaSki replied to Oli's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
is right Did he happen to explain why your son's tests are accurate enough to dismiss Celiac Disease if he is not producing enough IgA to have IgA based tests be reliable? As I see it, you have two choices: Find another doctor that specializes or has experience with Celiac Disease - a local celiac support group may be able to help find such... -
I happen to agree with both Gemini and Tom! Giving the removal of gluten an opportunity to remedy all symptoms associated with Celiac Disease for several months makes sense and will likely reduce stress in an already stressful time. After several months if symptoms are not improving I believe removing most possible intolerances and then adding them...

ARCHIVED California Proposition 37 - GMOs
GottaSki posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey All- I just received the following email and thought it would be good to post it here to remind folks to vote - hopefully Yes on Calif Prop 37. My intent is not to promote Dr. Mercola - I did think the info regarding Prop 37 in his email was worth sharing - - thanks for reading "From: Dr. Mercola October 22, 2012 ... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Positive, Biopsy Negative. Celiac?
GottaSki replied to chrise's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No problem...unfortunately many of us have been in your position with doctors. It is always good to ask them the same questions - but doing your homework ahead of appointments is important - the more you know the more specific and directed questions you can ask. All Bs - my celiac doc takes a lot of blood. B1, B2, B12 - can't remember but I think B6... -
ARCHIVED 18M Old - With Genetics Against Her
GottaSki replied to Aprilelayne's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Please do not dismiss your symptoms as getting older, stress, overwork, hormones or anything else. I did for far too long, because doctors reinforced that premise regularly Hang in there for testing - for both you and your daughter! Good luck to you both -
ARCHIVED Found Something For Inflammation
GottaSki replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tomorrow will be two weeks of drinking a cup per day, some days two. Positive things that I cannot prove are connected to the tea, but I am hopeful. Accidental glutening symptoms were less severe than in the past. The gluten was from almonds packaged on the same lines as gluten and was obvious within half hour of ingestion. My symptoms are usually... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Positive, Biopsy Negative. Celiac?
GottaSki replied to chrise's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your IgA based tests were likely negative due to your Total IgA being very low in range and that you were gluten-lite for many months before the test. Your IgG was positive and I'd guess that it would have been even higher if you had been eating regular amounts of gluten. Eight months gluten-lite (not avoiding cc, but not eating gluten ingredients) would... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Positive, Biopsy Negative. Celiac?
GottaSki replied to chrise's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Chris! A bit confused by your statement about tTG and IgA test results. The panel can include: tTG-IgA tTG-IgG EMA-IgA DGP-IgA DGP-IgG Total IgA Do you know which test was positive? The statement of the doc at the time that they all need to be positive is FALSE. I don't have experience with Enterolab tests, but there... -
Thanks for sharing Lisa My Celiac Doc recommended Quinoa so I ate it frequently for my first two years gluten-free - turns out I am intolerant of it. I thought it was the high lectin component - very glad researchers are investigating the suitability for those with Celiac!

Pauliewog is right - Paleo is a very good way to start when there are multiple restrictions plus there are a lot of easy to find recipes. Wanted to add -- make sure you double check your supplements for gluten, soy and corn - corn is a tough one to get out of supplements.

Welcome LadyCeliac! Sounds like a very good plan - took me a very long time to figure that one out

ARCHIVED Are My Symptoms Celiac?
GottaSki replied to Mama Maria's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is common for symptoms to be triggered or worsened by pregnancy, surgery or other stresses on the body. In hindsight I had symptoms my entire life, but they did worsen each decade and got much worse after the birth of my last child. I also was tested for possible gallbladder problems following his birth along with a multitude of tests that were always... -
ARCHIVED Are My Symptoms Celiac?
GottaSki replied to Mama Maria's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Mama Maria! YES...you should have your doctor order the full celiac blood panel. All of your symptoms are consistent with Celiac Disease and your path to diagnosis is far too common. IMPORTANT: Do not remove gluten until you have completed both blood work and possible follow up endoscopic biopsies. Full Celiac Blood Panel: Total... -
ARCHIVED New To All Of This
GottaSki replied to doalltheyoga's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Welcome DATY! Glad you have been able to determine your body doesn't like gluten. Were you gluten-free in the months before your blood tests were drawn? If so, they may be falsely negative - even gluten-lite can reduce the amount of antibodies measured in the celiac panel. It is also possible that you have Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance.... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
GottaSki replied to Oli's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That Total IgA is low from all the numbers I've seen, so all his IgA based celiac antibodies tests would be inaccurate as he cannot produce the antibodies measured in those tests -- IMO another good reason to take a look/obtain biopsies. I'm not clear on the IgG or IgM numbers - would be good for you to verify with doctor whether he is low/deficient... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
GottaSki replied to Oli's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Jessica- I am a bit confused that you say his Ig's are low. Do you have the ranges for Total IgA Total IgG If these are indeed low, all celiac blood tests would be inaccurate in detecting Celiac Disease. Regardless of the reason he tested negative, having the endoscopy to obtain celiac biopsies would be a good idea given his symptoms...
