  1. I improved from week 2-5, but from then on I have had much more severe joint/back pain, fatigue, sleep problems, spacey and much more. Just over 5 months now and remain hopeful and at time anxious for improvement. I was very sick and tired of being sick and tired before dx and very happy when I finally had an answer...it's been tough being sicker during...
  2. I don't have that brand, but another brand of diced tomatoes in my cupboard list ingredients as: cut tomatoes, tomato juice, salt, calcium chloride and citric acid all of which are gluten-free
  3. Coke and Dr. Pepper are gluten-free, not sure about Pibb. On occasion we have had coke, pepsi, mtn dew, dr. pepper, etc -- I also checked the generic brand from Albertson's "chill" to save some money on root beer for my kids...they responded quickly that all their sodas are gluten-free.
  4. My children have all had negative blood work, but have various Celiac Symptoms. One son and one grandson greatly improved on gluten-free diet. Others still considering gluten-free. My own tTG was only marginally elevated - endo biopsy and other blood tests confirmed dx.
  5. Your symptoms are very similar to mine. I am not vegan/vegetarian. The blood tests that helped with my diagnosis were: tTG, Vit B12, D, K, Zinc and Copper. An endoscopic biopsy shouldn't be done if you are already gluten-free. Since you have already gone gluten-free and seen some improvement, I'd suggest you stay the course. Healing time for everyone...
  6. Since being diagnosed just over 5 months ago, I have discovered that I had celiac symptoms most of my life. I'm 44. Except for a few teen years where I was eating next to nothing I've always been slightly bloated and had periodic unexplained stomach trouble/flu like symptoms which included achy joints etc. When I'd go to the doctor I'd complain of general...
  7. Hmmm, while I agree that you need to be careful about choosing restaurants, I strongly disagree with including PF Changs in the list to stay away from. We have found that their gluten-free policy is fantastic and implemented very well by everyone including hostess, waitstaff and chef at two PF Chang locations. Many restaurants with gluten-free policies...
  8. I second the In and Out theory -- they also only fry french fries in their oil, etc. My son and I order our burgers on lettuce instead of bun with good luck so far. As for restaurants being risky, the answer is yes -- there is a risk of CC at all restaurants. We still go out to eat (not as often as we used to), do a bit of research before we go, try...
  9. All great advise above...you'll be surprised how quickly you learn the ropes. Something simple that helped our family -- we put small round bright green stickers on everything in the kitchen that is gluten-free...in the fridge, pantry, spices, etc. Even if you know an item is gluten-free these little stickers make preparing food that much easier. Good...
  10. I'm new to the recipe, but my best guess would be to double the almond meal and leave out the flax meal? Good Luck!
  11. Large bottles of Nature Made Multi-Complete at Costo. Not sure what they cost at other stores. Also the Costco brand Kirkland Calcium with D work great...my D levels were confirmed to be on the rise last month.
  12. Thank you Liz and everyone else for keeping this thread going...I missed it until today! Couldn't wait to get home to try it, although I must admit I was a bit skeptical as it sounded to good to be true...easy and tasty???? Rather than stop at the store to pick up almond and flax meal, I ground whole almonds and flax seed in the blender and used...
  13. Thank you Ikonya! I've been researching Tryptophan for the past couple of days on your lead. My sleep has gotten worse and worse since going gluten-free 5 months ago, which leads to much more severe fatigue, fogginess, joint issues, etc. during the daytime. Would very much appreciate a bit more information from you or anyone else supplementing with...
  14. Seems to me that if you have found your answer by living gluten-free and your health continues to improve there isn't a compelling reason to get an official diagnosis. If your symptoms don't continue to improve or you desire an official diagnosis in the future look for a gastroenterologist that takes/wants a Celiac case as many doctors, even GIs don't...
  15. Thanks! Still hoping my severe intolerance of heat and joint issues will resolve with recovery from 43 years of gluten .
  16. Just wondering if your urticaria / anaphylaxis seem to correspond to heat and humidity??? I've had extreme heat intolerance for the past couple summers...but it has gotten worse since going gluten-free. Thanks! PS...my path to celiac diagnosis ran thru a "top" rheumatologist whom told me he doubted I had an autoimmune disease....why oh why is celiac...
  17. Add me to the broken thermostat club...was always a coldy until the past 10 years...now if is over 70 or humid I overheat extremely fast...also can't exercise past 7am unless its in the winter. Since being diagnosed with celiac I was hopeful my heat intolerence would improve with diet change. No such luck-gotten worse - seems to have gotten worse every...
  18. IF you are going ahead with the biopsy. My celiac doc at UCSD was insistant that I not go gluten-free until the procedure was complete -- it was frustrating to wait those extra weeks, but my biopsy (3 samples) did confirm celiac disease. He also wanted to make sure I didn't take any aspirin/ibuprofen(advil) for a couple weeks prior to the test. I can...
  19. Here is the email response to my query regarding "Super Chill" Soda Pop found at Albertson's Grocery Stores. I asked specifically about the cola, root beer, cream soda, lemon lime and ginger ale. I checked due to the "natural flavor" listed in the ingredients. 20. The endo/biopsy gave us long awaited decisive answers. When my primary first called my with Celiac Dx and referred me to Gastro I didn't think she had found the cause of my many symptoms...mostly because a lot of info on the net refers to weight loss and D. I've been steadily gaining unexplained weight for years, joint issues and heat intolerance (this...
  21. Here's a great informational video from UCSD's Celiac Center -- warning it is nearly one and half hours long, but worth a watch: Open Original Shared Link
  22. Love this...I've been feeling guilty about all the paper towel trees I've been killing lately! A stack of fresh towels is a great plan. Thanks!
  23. Thank you Jenny! I was just prescribed Fexofenadine and the list your posted alleviated my concern immediately! -Lisa
  24. Much more careful at three months than I was at three weeks! As you'll read on many posts -- as your body becomes gluten-free, very, very small amount of gluten can make you sick -- this was a concept that I understood, but my brain didn't really understand until I was gluten-free for some time. Your body will probably let you know within a short time too...
  25. I would never tell you you are overreacting because medical procedures can be scary. I will till you endo is very easy....you are only asleep for a very short time and not very deeply... It'll be over before you know it...make sure there is a nice gluten-free ice cream in your freezer for after the procedure
