  1. His lungs are not perfect...but are much improved. Thanks. Yes, HCl is Hydrochloric Acid. Good luck to you
  2. My son had GERD that was misdiagnosed as Asthma because he was aspirating acid into his lungs each night causing chronic cough. They finally diagnosed GERD, but then trialed every PPI available for several years and none helped. When I was finally diagnosed with Celiac, we finally found that his "gerd" was a symptom of Celiac for him. I researched...
  3. Ditto and ditto.
  4. If you have no health issues, there is no reason for a family member to assume gluten can harm your baby and If presented as you may kill your baby is being a bit harsh...imo. Does this family member have Celiac or NCGS? Do you have any health issues other than digestive? Perhaps this person thinks you are dismissing symptoms of Celiac other than digestive...
  5. Welcome Lori and little one! Yes, all of those symptoms can be associated with Celiac Disease and she should have a complete celiac antibody panel. Request written copies of all her labs. If gluten is an issue you may see low nutrients in the CMP, Calcium or D panels. Sometimes there are indicators on the CBC as well...but not always. Hang...
  6. Are you certain you are completely gluten-free? Is your kitchen gluten-free? Do you eat items without gluten ingredients at restaurants that may not be safe from cross-contamination? Have you checked your medication and/or supplements? If you are certain you are completely gluten-free...Perhaps you have developed other food intolerances. Has your...
  7. Sounds like a wonderful time for them to learn. Set up a supervisor chair in your kitchen to walk them thru prep. If they dislike the stove start with a crock pot. No reason they can't chop veggies and dump ingredients in the crock pot in the morning or prepare the night before, place crock in frig and then just turn it on in the morning.
  8. Yep...me too...that is why I encourage people to question their GI's Celiac knowledge and experience...never assume a doctor has enough celiac and/or any real food intolerance knowledge.
  9. Have to disagree here. She has been gluten free, yet digestive symptoms remain. Yes, I know I am one of the supposedly rare cases that had active celiac disease continue for subsequent endoscopic biopsies....my celiac docs at UCSD did annual endoscopies because I continued to have symptoms completely gluten-free (confirmed by complete antibody panels)....
  10. I agree that an elimination diet is the best way to weed out other intolerance. It would be wise to check that the GI you were referred to has experience with Celiac and NCGS. Another very good idea would be to have an endoscopy at the same time as the colonoscopy....sadly not all doctors check all posibilities.
  11. It is a difficult concept at first...hence the large learning curve when diagnosed. For me and many others...the reactions became more severe rather quickly....it's like your body is so used to fighting this invader and then it is gone so when small amounts are consumed there is a massive attack on smaller and smaller invaders. Try not to spend too much...
  12. Lol....it was in the cooking section....I moved it as she was looking for suggestions with several intolerance and thought she'd get more response. Oh well...either place is fine...and ideas are flowing
  13. Most doctors use sedation that makes you feel like you had a good nap....I have heard the rare story of patients not being sedate enough. Just make sure to discuss your gag reflex and your desire to be sedate during the procedure. Wouldn't worry very much for the double ender...they used more sedation when I had both ends done at once than my previous...
  14. Very true and I've thought the same thing often....and yes it is extremely frustrating to continually be patient...and there are days when I want to scream...yep this sucks! Then I have a good day...today didn't suck as much.
  15. Happy Dance here!!! ya...i get my thrills wherever i can
  16. You are right it does suck! I have been gluten-free for nearly five years and everything else in my signature for two and half and histamines for over a year. To make things more fun I have some okay periods of health, but then severe flare hits with no explanation -- leaving doctors continually stumped. It is not fair -- when we do so much to improve...
  17. Carrot and ginger puree? Add fresh herbs like basil or cilantro to broth when you use it.
  18. You need to find out which test was normal. It very well could have been normal Total Serum IgA which means you simply have enough IgA to make the tTG-IgA valid. Or it could have been any one of the other tests in a complete panel: tTG-IgG EMA-IgA DGP-IgA or IgG AGA-IgA or IgG Ask for written or electronic results for all medical tests......
  19. How about marking yours with nail polish on the handle....works for my hand tools that disappear with hubs and sons...since they have bright fushia marking them they haven't disappeared once. If the gluten eaters are still using your tools...how about a set in easy access to them and yours are stored in a drawer?
  20. At times I've had to live off liquid diets as my digestive system flares and will not tolerate even my safe foods in whole form. Over the years we have tried many meal replacement drinks including very expensive medical grade drinks and never found one I could tolerate due to the chemicals they use to produce them. If you are having some luck with...
  21. Absolutely, she should have a complete antibody panel. For a GI to say antibodies need to be extremely high to consider Celiac makes me livid! Not all biopsies are accurate...sometimes the damage is spotty and sometimes it is celiac in early stages. My antibodies were only mildly positive at 43 after suffering with undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or...
  22. Yes. I've seen many folks diagnosed after trial. That said, I've also see some fail and wonder "what if" they had been tested before removing gluten. It is especially frustrating when a doctor says to give gluten-free a try before pulling blood.
  23. No need to overdo it ... one slice of bread per day until the endoscopy is sufficient
  24. Lifelong symptom resolution by removing gluten, the inability to ingest for challenge, improved nutrient levels gluten-free and Mom's history (genes). Depends. Some doctors say only DQ2 and DQ8 are associated with Celiac. Others include several more as associated with Celiac or NCGS. Then there are folks that have been diagnosed by...
  25. Glad you found something that works
