  1. Hmmm...I'll have to buy one for the boys....still can't do anything processed myself - even when at school, jobsite or office for the day. We have tried many other Amy's items in the past -- some are hit and some are miss
  2. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds -- The Beatles
  3. If you are reacting strongly after removing gluten -- I would highly suggest going forward with the endoscopy with or without the gluten challenge. This test can provide a lot of useful information about the status of your upper digestive tract -- do make sure they take 6-8 samples of the small intestine -- not all GIs do this -- I'll check back later to...
  4. Oh dear...hope she is feeling better very soon -- Hang in there Mom
  5. I had the urge to cough for about a day after my first endo -- subsequent endos I had different sleepy cocktail because we discovered an allergy to one used during the first endo. Needing to cough or being a bit sore in the throat is to be expected -- they did send something foreign down there for the look around.
  6. Hi Nicole! I think overall this is great news....I understand the IGF-1 would be a bit scary, but try to put that one on the list to retest and wait and see -- this year has been a huge transition for your body -- removing gluten and then treating the thyroid. Also keep in mind that as your body has time to heal your thyroid may improve more so make...
  7. Welcome! I agree to get at least the DGP-IgG, but also suggest you make sure you have more nutrient blood testing. Often docs will only run Iron and Vitamin D. Here is a good list to check if you are having problems absorbing nutrients in addition to the D you posted: Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, K Iron, Ferritin, Copper and Zinc Also if you...
  8. Happy to listen -- here is hoping you continue to improve quickly -- but just so you know -- not all of us improve quickly -- my celiac antibody levels all improved during the first six months gluten-free but it took nearly two years for my vitamins and minerals to all improve to normal levels -- again --- I am on the slow end of the curve...here's hoping...
  9. Make sure you ask for written copies of both the pathology and procedure reports for the endo and if it were my child I would push for a complete celiac antibody panel before removing gluten -- once that is done remove all gluten to see if symptoms improve -- many children improve quickly once gluten is removed. Here is the complete panel: Total Serum...
  10. Still think you need to talk to a good internist and allergist about your blood tests -- we can't look at all your results here and we are not doctors.... Google is very helpful, but be careful not to react too quickly to info you find on the net....if you think you have found something that relates to your specific symptoms -- research further -- try...
  11. I have severe reaction to avocado -- anaphylaxis - but do NOT blood or scratch allergy test positive....this is caused by Histamine Intolerance.
  12. Welcome HD!!! You have come to the right place....unfortunately Celiac Disease has many different symptoms and each of us responds differently to the removal of gluten. It takes time and patience which are both hard to come by when we are already run down prior to diagnosis. One of my kids main symptoms was GERD/Reflux -- it is our experience that...
  13. Hi Celiacmama83 Low Iron along with other minerals and vitamins is very common in Celiac Disease. With celiac disease we don't absorb nutrients properly thus are deficient -- I was anemic my entire life...other vits and mins were just low until the later years pre diagnosis. Hang in there -- time will help you become comfortable with your diagnosis...
  14. lol...mine taught me how to can so we could can his deep sea catches together
  15. Many of us have dealt with this situation with family and friends. Nicole is correct -- eduction is the key along with time. Time for your health to improve, time for them to understand this isn't a passing phase or idea, time -- took some in our extended family a couple years to get that I had not been faking my flares for the past 20 years. Feeling...
  16. Thank you for sharing -- wonderful to hear these stories -- sad that they remain the exception rather than the rule -- but thankful none the less that things are beginning to change Glad you will have the endo behind you soon and be able to begin living gluten-free
  17. Have a wonderful trip
  18. well aware of what reclaimed water they are (you will be) using....California - well the entire southwest needs to invest in all water reclamation activities -- even the not so palatable ones -- we are flushing poop with liquid gold -- oh sorry if those reading along haven't had their 'wheaties' (haven't used that phrase in a long time -- lol)
  19. it seems I could use our washing machine grey water....but not our bathroom tub as I use loads of epsom salt which would kill more poor little veggie plants.... going to talk to the hubs about hooking our washer up to my lawn (soon to be veggie garden). ....... for those of you that live elsewhere -- Southern California is a desert -- most of our...
  20. Oh yay...triple digit temps in June -- sorry -- I melt. Done b%$@#ing...here is the question bouncing around my head this morning -- I will ask google...but wonder if any of you have experience....is there any gray water that can be used for gardens? Seems like laundry and dish soap would not be a good thing to add to my vegies...but hell just my patio...
  21. Good to see you around these parts! and creamed corn....by any name sounds yummy
  22. Benefiber states it contains 20ppm -- technically gluten free but their website suggests those with gluten intolerance do not ingest.
  23. You are a dear..... I suggest....make three cassaroles....then chop them into very large portions and freeze -- label with dates to pull out of the freeze -- then skip away -- or add the schedule to your google calender and remind him....and then skip away and have fun. Oh...and leave a huge ziplock with salad -- let him know where it and a bottle...
  24. I would not classified you as spoiled...but I did grow up in a home where I was not allowed to help with dinner prep -- I did however take note in every other kitchen I was exposed to.... seems to have stuck.... recipes are great for cookies, cakes, and even extra special dips....yet I am a little of this...little of that chef as my hubby is and now are...
  25. 4 Celiac 2 NCGI All righties...two that our left sides of our bodies take harder flare hits than our right.
